Dr. Carrie Turnbull didn't always dream of being a veterinarian. When she set off for college her dream was to be a professional cellist. It wasn't until the summer between her junior and senior year that she changed courses. It was during a stay at her older brother's house that summer that she truly discovered how much she loved animals.
Dental
Report
Did you know that at least 60% of dogs and cats have dental disease? Not only does dental disease make your dog or cat's breath smell bad, but it also can affect their overall health. Infection in the mouth can travel to other organs and cause infections in the kidneys, liver and heart. If you notice any of the above, you should schedule an exam for one of our veterinarians to check out that mouth!
Digital Radiology
Report
Radiographs (or x-rays) can be a very useful diagnostic tool when your pet is injured or sick. At Staunton River Vet Clinic we offer digital radiology. There are various reasons why we may recommend radiographs be taken on your dog, cat or pig. Look for evidence of something stuck in the stomach or intestines if there is vomiting and diarrhea. If you feel that your pet may be sick or injured, please contact our office at (540) 297-1000 to schedule your appointment today!
Laser Therapy & Pain Management
Report
Our Class IV Deep Tissue Laser uses a beam of laser light to penetrate tissue without damaging it. The energy from the laser beam causes a response in the tissue called "photo-bio-modulation". This response leads to the reduced pain, inflammation and the increased healing speed. The laser therapy treatment is done with a hand-held device that may cause a slight warming sensation in the area it is treating.
