Surgical services and facilities include: fully trained veterinary and technical staff, two fully equipped surgical suites; heated surgery tables for greater comfort, : ECG, respiratory and blood pressure monitoring; observed recovery in a centrally located ICU area and surgical; patients are supported by a full in-house laboratory.
All patients are carefully screened for anesthetic safety and anesthetics are specifically tailored to your pet. At River Heights, anesthetic safety and pain management is not optional, rather an important part of every surgical intervention. Each surgical patient receives pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative pain medication based on the individual patient and surgical procedure performed. In fact, elective surgeries such as spays and neuters are performed with the same care and dedication as more complex surgeries.

Digital Radiology (x-rays)

Radiology or x-rays help our veterinarians evaluate the musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary system, intestinal, reproductive, and urinary systems. Digital imaging permits the veterinarian to see images much more clearly. With digital imaging, we have the capability of emailing your pet’s x-rays to a specialist or burning the images onto a disc.

I took my dog to Francine for her inaugural grooming session. Having adopted her in June, I suspect she may not have received proper grooming before. Francine was patient with Annie, ensuring her grooming experience was as comfortable as possible.
I'm extremely grateful to Francine for her gentle approach and can't express my appreciation enough. We'll definitely return for future grooming sessions.

Since moving to Oswego Illinois, we have been going to River Heights Veterinary Hospital. Dr Pocius is our primary vet, however, all of the vets are great. Dr Pocius is responsive, a good listener, takes time to go over conditions, and reasons for the care of my dogs. I highly recommend this clinic, from the reception, the vet technicians, and all of the doctors.

Today I went to River heights for my baby girl kittie Athena just to make sure she had no more baby kittens stuck in her belly. The whole staff was WONDERFUL! They took great care of Athena and in such a timely manner. I look forward to bringing my other cats here for their check ups and future appointments. Not disappointed whatsoever and it's super close to where I live. 10/10!

Dr Anderson just radiates kindness. It's like you can actually feel how much she cares about your pet. My dog has been there a lot cause unfortunately she caught heart worm disease. DON'T skip theses pills. Or take the shot. Not a cheap or fun experience! But this place has made it less brutal. Dr Anderson explains in detail and gives you paper to go home and reread if needed. My dog actually loves going there. She gets so excited.

Great veterinarian’s office. The office staff are very caring and supportive to both animals and their humans. It was our first visit to the River Heights Veterinary Hospital I was impressed with the veterinarian and the staff. They thoughtfully answered all of my concerns and handled my pet with live and compassion.

I am very grateful to River Heights! My dog suddenly became ill and I reached out to them..they were able to get her in and do her exam to find the cause of her illness quickly and treat her. The vets and the rest of the staff were wonderful to work with and kept me updated on her condition throughout her treatment!

I recently switched vets and I love River Heights. The previous vet had very long wait times (1- 1/2 hours even if you had an appointment). With River Heights, they get you in a your scheduled time and get you out fast and the staff is friendly. Dr. Anderson takes the extra time to explain what is going on with your animal and treatment options.

Our furbaby developed a sudden fever, shaking, vomiting. We were able to get in first thing in the morning after being sent away from VCA the night before because she wasn't "critical ". We were so scared & everyone at River Heights was AMAZING! Dr. P was so reassuring! She went through all the options & expenses. She even called to check on her the next day! We love being patients their! Amazing place! Thanks

Beginning to end, great fist experience. Took my 8 yr old, newly rescued, Calico in for cleaning, which had seemingly never been done. Found 5 teeth decayed beyond repair and I was kept in the loop, before, during and after the procedure. Came home with instructions, meds and a follow up call the next day. They care more than I was anticipating and for that, I’m grateful.

I cannot express my gratitude enough for Dr. Anderson and the River Heights staff. They were unbelievably friendly and kept me well informed of my very ill cat. It was my first visit and my cat needed emergency surgery. I cannot imagine going anywhere else now. I was so nervous to just drop her off but I could tell she was in such good hands. They provided great education and made me feel such at ease. I will be forever grateful for their services and the price wasn't bad either! I am looking forward to seeing them again for the follow up. I couldn't ask for a better vet.

I brought my dog Lola into River Heights to see Dr. Pocius for a second opinion, regarding a possible bladder cancer diagnosis. I had taken her to my vet in Yorkville and was unsatisfied with her care. A friend referred me to Dr. Pocius, and I am so grateful we found her. Though my sweet dog is gone, and we are heartbroken, Dr. Pocius was open and honest with me about her cancer and the options we had.
She genuinely cared about Lola, even though she only knew her a short time, and I am eternally grateful. I received a heartfelt card today from Dr. Pocius after we sent our sweet girl over the rainbow bridge, and it was a testament to the love and care they have for their patients. We were recommended by my wife boss. Love the doctor and the staff. Since we have been coming here, we never had a bad experience. The veterinarian has been honest and straight forward with every thing. The staff calls and text messages when your appointment is near. They always follow-up after your pet has been released into your care. I love that. Overall I am pleased and happy.

Just wanted to post about how much we loved our visit to River Heights Veterinary Hospital yesterday. Our poor pup has had some recurrent ongoing issues. We wanted a second opinion and Dr. Weaver and all of the staff really took the time to examine him and explain everything to us. They were also very patient with our two little kiddos who were not always the quietest.
We never felt rushed and really felt like they were not only treating his current symptoms but also trying to figure out the underlying cause. We are so glad we switched vets. While there's some work ahead of us to hopefully get our dog feeling better, we are happy we have the support and care of this awesome team. We highly recommend!
