In May of 1980, Dr. Wayne T. Springer purchased Highlands Pet Clinic from Dr. Stromlund, who was retiring. The clinic grew over the next 20 years. Dr. Wayne Springer's son Dr. Samuel Springer joined the practice in 1997. At that time, plans were underway to build a new hospital at a different location.
We seek to build a practice that provides individualized, thoughtful, and quality care to our patients through every stage of their life. At Highlands Veterinary Center, we believe annual wellness care is imperative to keeping your pet happy and healthy! Your pet's health is important and preventive care is necessary.
Your kind words mean the world to us, and we're so thankful that you've taken the time to provide us with feedback. We know you have a lot of choices when choosing the best Chesapeake, VA veterinary hospital, and we're happy that you've decided to join the Whiskerframe family. Your kind words and feedback help us continue to provide over-the-top service to you and your pet.
We're always looking for outstanding people to join our team. The Licensed Veterinary Technician assists the doctors to the fullest possible extent, to help improve the quality of care given to the patients, and to aid the doctors in achieving greater efficiency by relieving them of technical work at Highlands Veterinary Center, Inc.

I don't know how the rest of the vets are but let me tell you about an experience with Dr Hood that I never got an apology. Nice lady. I trusted her. So did my family,..when she told my family that she had talked to me and I supposedly told them not to treat a condition that had led to an agonizing death of a beloved pet. I loved this vet . I trusted this vet. I thought there must have been a miscommunication since I obviously wanted this animal treated. I called the clinic and, after receiving the message for treatment, she left without returning a phone call. I loved this vet. I trusted this vet. I asked that the clinic call her and ask for medication. There must be a mistake because this vet was wonderful.
Still, here was this little life slipping away, writhing in pain for lack of a medication. I called the ERS in the area. Everyone was at capacity. I would have to go to Washington DC for a vet. So we left but by the time we got there, they were at capacity and so was everyone else. We headed home and our little fur angel died in agony. Our baby may have been bound to cross that rainbow bridge but, Dr. Hood, did it have to be in that much pain. Again, a situation that occurred because she lied and said I approved of not treating a problem.
She never apologized.

They have been absolutely amazing with my dog Jade, I've had to bring her in twice so far in this last month for a lump under her tail. Dr. Hood and her team did everything possible to make me and my dog feel more comfortable. Her vet techs were extremely nice and helpful as well, my dog is definitely not the easiest at vets because she's so anxious and they always take their time to make sure that she's as comfortable as she can be while being examined.
They are a bit more expensive but honestly it's 100% worth it to have someone that genuinely cares for animals and wants to make sure they are in great health. The receptionist have also been extremely nice and always give me a breakdown of the prices of what they are going to do before they do it so I know about how much I'm getting charged before she ever goes back for her visit!

My hamster Buttercup had wet tail, and I immediately made a vet appointment with this facility. Staff was absolutely amazing and helpful, and super friendly. Dr. Springer and the vet assistants did a wonderful job with Buttercup. Although she has just crossed the Rainbow Bridge, I am super grateful for this facility.

Amazing vet! Took my cat here after a bad experience with the Blue Pearl Emergency vet. They were able to see my cat that day, in the morning. Lots of tests done with immediate results, very helpful Doctor, and answered all my fiance's questions with patience and knowledge. The staff there really cares about your pet and want to help in any way they can.
With multiple tests, blood work, medicine, and fluids, the total cost was cheaper than just 1 exam, 1 radiograph, and a dose of fluids at Blue Pearl. My cat was taken in right away and all tests done promptly. Out the door in 2 hours with everything done. Highly recommend!

Very unprofessional, messed up test results, won't return! It was under my daughter. Her dog's thyroid test wasn't don't properly. When we decided to change vets, it took over 3 weeks to get the records to the new vet bc they kept sending only the vaccination records. Then the girl I talked to on the phone was rude after telling her she sent the wrong records.
I told Highlands I was changing vets and needed all the dog's records transferred. Wouldn't you think that would include records that showed a medical problem such as thyroid deficiencies to be sent. At no time did I ask for only the vaccination records. I asked for all the dog's records.

Very upset with Highland Veterinary. I have been taking my dog Clipso for years to here. She was diagnosed with Bladder Cancer not to long ago, Asked if there was anything we can do to help her, I was told no she has two weeks to live. After that never received even a email to ask how she was doing they did not seem compasiant at all. When it was time to euthanize her, they where to busy even though she was in a great deal of pain. We did find another fantastic Clinic that was compassionate and caring.

Searched "Vets near me" and called this one based off of location and reviews. I was impressed with the efficiency and willingness to listen to my questions. They needed to research previous records from another vet and called me back in record time. They were able to squeeze us in due to the urgent nature of my cat's needs, No waiting. Quick service. Clean facility. Loving hands and voices surrounded my 13 year old cat. Knowledgeable staff in every department. Both me and my kitty recommend Highlands Veterinary Center.

I had the hardest decision any fur parent has to make today, to let my sweet sweet beloved Creature (aka Creatch McFeatch) cross the rainbow bridge. The staff was caring and respectful during the whole ordeal. Dr. Springer explained every step clearly and compassionately. They didn't make it any less painful but they did make it as comfortable as possible. Thankyou to all that helped me, my family and my sweetest bestest Creature on this awful day.
