Founded in 1995 by two devout animal lovers, Anne Bell and Paul Berry, Southern Animal Foundation has grown from a grass roots organization to a full service, non-profit animal hospital. SAF rescues and treats companion animals from all over our state, as well as Mississippi. The mission of SAF is to eliminate the need for euthanasia as a means to control the epidemic of animal overpopulation in the greater New Orleans and surrounding areas. The clinic is one of the city's only low cost, non-profit animal hospitals.

SAF is committed to providing our animals with a safe, secure, and comfortable environment until the right individual assumes responsibility as the permanent guardian. While every effort is made to match the right pet with the right home, there is always the possibility that you may feel the relationship is not working.

Your tax deductible donation goes directly towards saving the lives of abused and neglected animals, providing all aspects of needed medical treatment and care. Donations can also be used for specific projects, per your request, such as spay/neuter programs, heartworm treatment of rescued dogs, TNR feral cat program, or general care of our rescues awaiting adoption.
