Highland Road Animal Hospital has been providing veterinary services to Baton Rouge for over 40 years and has the remarkable accomplishment of having been an AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association) hospital for nearly 30 consecutive years! Dr. Randy Thayer opened the hospital in 1968 to offer quality care to the pets of the Highland Road and Kenilworth areas.

I feel extremely fortunate to wake up each morning and know that when I go into work, I will be doing something that I truly love. I have always loved working with animals, and with each passing day I become more excited and inspired by veterinary medicine. Practicing at Highland Road Animal Hospital is truly my dream job as I am a native of South Baton Rouge and I have always wanted to raise my family in this area.

We relocated down the hill from our former site on historic Highland Road, just past the two gorgeous live oaks. We incorporated "green" building techniques during the construction, including a metal lifetime roof which reflects heat to make cooling easier. Our x-rays are all digital, thus reducing chemicals in our environment.
