Services
Slit-Lamp Biomicroscopy
Slit-Lamp Biomicroscopy provides high-magnification visualization of ocular structures to detect abnormalities. This diagnostic tool enables precise evaluation of corneal health, lens clarity, and intraocular pressure. Our specialists use this technology to diagnose conditions like cataracts, uveitis, and retinal detachment, ensuring accurate treatment planning for improved patient outcomes.
Phacoemulsification
Phacoemulsification removes cataracts using ultrasonic energy to break down and extract cloudy lens material. This minimally invasive procedure restores vision clarity in pets suffering from lens opacity. We implant foldable intraocular lenses post-surgery to optimize visual function, combining advanced techniques with postoperative care for successful recovery.
Genetic Ophthalmic Screening
Genetic Ophthalmic Screening identifies inherited eye disease risks in breeds predisposed to conditions like progressive retinal atrophy. Using Optigen technology, we analyze DNA samples to predict potential vision-threatening disorders. Early detection allows proactive management strategies, helping owners make informed breeding and care decisions to preserve long-term ocular health.
Graft Surgery
Graft Surgery treats deep corneal ulcers by transplanting healthy tissue to reinforce compromised eye structures. This procedure prevents perforation and promotes healing in severe ocular injuries. Our surgeons use conjunctival or corneal-scleral grafts, combining surgical precision with postoperative monitoring to restore corneal integrity and maintain vision.
Nutritional Counseling
Nutritional Counseling addresses the impact of diet on ocular health, offering tailored dietary recommendations to support eye function. We evaluate pets' nutritional needs to manage conditions like dry eye and retinal degeneration. By integrating specialized supplements such as Ocu-GLO RX with balanced meal plans, we enhance overall eye health outcomes through evidence-based dietary interventions.

Dr. Powell is the worst medical practitioner I have ever met. She misdiagnosed my boxer for 2 months. Her only agenda was prescribing medications that cost a fortune, that didn't work, and most importantly giving us inaccurate medication storage instructions. Only prolonging the agony my poor dog was in. Some of the medications should not have been prescribed for corneal ulcers. Antibiotics she had us administer for 2 months were totally unnecessary.
I was only educated to all this after going to get a second opinion with another Ophthalmologist who informed us of all this after taking my boxer there. My poor dogs ulcer had ruptured. When I raised concerns with Dr. Powell and sent in photos. I was told all this was normal. Also be cautious she takes your pet to a back room for her exam and you never really know what goes on back there. Please do not take your pets to this butcher! We are now pursuing legal action as no Pet should have to go through this.

The must not have children cuz she was extremely rude and short with me about my son who was 1 at the time. There were no other customers in the lobby and my son just walked around the lobby exploring and she had a major problem with him simply being a kid. It wasn't like he was touching stuff or making a mess. He was just walking around. The receptionist was kind enough to give him some paper and a pen to draw on and the doctor still had an attitude with his presence. It took everything in me not to snap at her. You couldn't pay me to go back here. I'd give it no stars if I could

If you value your pet and your purse, find another solution. This doctor has no idea what she is doing and is after money. She does not treat cherry eye in dogs and is no good at diagnosing the simplest of ailments. If something isn't going correctly, she blames your pet. Always puts the blame on you. Go somewhere else. Read ALL of her reviews, not just the ones you can skim on Google. You have been warned. I learned the hard way.

Dr. Powell and her staff are the best and we love taking our blind chihuahua to her eye clinic. They are also extremely precautious about COVID and make you feel more at ease than most places. It also helps that Dr. Powell has her boxer up there with her bc she is absolutely adorable
