Wellness Exams
Our comprehensive wellness exams establish baseline health metrics and detect early disease indicators. Annual physicals include bloodwork, heartworm testing, parasite screening, and dental evaluations. Senior pets receive specialized twice-yearly exams with thyroid and kidney function tests. Our preventive approach helps maintain optimal health through tailored nutrition and weight management plans.
Pet Surgery
We perform advanced soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries using state-of-the-art techniques. Our Springfield location specializes in bone fracture repairs and ligament reconstructions. Preoperative bloodwork and continuous vital monitoring ensure patient safety. Postoperative care includes comprehensive pain management and follow-up evaluations to support complete recovery for both routine and complex procedures.
Dental Care
Our dental services prevent and treat periodontal disease through professional cleanings and digital x-rays. We perform ultrasonic scaling, tooth polishing, and extractions when necessary. Annual dental exams identify oral health issues early. We educate pet owners on home care techniques and offer preventive sealants to maintain long-term oral health for cats and dogs.
Diagnostic Imaging
Digital radiography and ultrasound enable accurate internal diagnostics for cardiopulmonary, musculoskeletal, and abdominal conditions. We utilize advanced imaging equipment for rapid diagnosis of fractures, organ abnormalities, and soft tissue issues. Our in-house diagnostics allow immediate treatment planning, while complex cases receive specialist referrals for advanced imaging modalities.
Puppy/Kitten Care
Our early care program establishes lifelong health foundations through vaccination schedules and developmental monitoring. Puppies receive distemper/parvo and rabies vaccines starting at 6 weeks, while kittens get FVRCP and FeLV protection. We provide deworming protocols, microchipping, and spay/neuter recommendations tailored to breed-specific needs during critical growth periods.

Our cat was sick and being new to the area we didn't have a regular vet. This clinic was great to work with us to get an appointment and check up. We will be coming back to make this clinic our regular vet.

The gentle care and attention my cat and I experience here is the absolute best we could ask for. Everyone who works here understands that a cats visit is usually stressful and they help move the visit along when requested-addressing any issues we may not notice. Thank you to everyone at Capitol Illini in Chatham! Steve and Alley

I have been going to Capitol Illini for over 20 plus years but I will have to say I can no longer afford the services. I recently took my two dogs for a wellness exam and one was given a 1 year rabies vaccine and the other a 3 year rabies vaccine. I walked out with an almost $300 bill. I have noting but great things to say about the vets and staff but you have got to do something about your pricing. I know places have to make money but the markup on these services is way too high.

Our two Oversized dogs (Male Rottweiler and Female Bernese Mountain Dog) are welcomed like the loving dogs they can be. I feel that they receive personalized care. I do NOT feel financially exploited. They receive Excellent quality Vet services with loving and well trained employees.
