Bel Air Veterinary Hospital Inc. was established at this location in 1945. When Dr. Richard Cook came in 1959, Tollgate Road was still a dirt road from Rt 1 (Belair Road) to our building. Most of today's housing developments were active farms and the practice provided care for their livestock and pets. As the area has become developed, the small animal practice has become our focus.

We're a well-founded, full-service, small animal veterinary hospital delivering comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care. We supply a wide spectrum of diagnostic procedures through in-house testing and the use of external laboratories. We work closely with local practices when special diagnostic procedures are required.

Through the years the practice has changed with the population. Originally a mixed practice, we became an exclusively tiny animal practice in 1976. Swan Creek Veterinary Clinic SCVC, situated in historic Havre de Grace, MD, was opened on July 30, 2007. It opened as our 3rd location in Harford County.


Dr. Esra Yavuz graduated from Skidmore College in 1993 with a BA in Bio-chemistry and from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. Dr. Esra has been in private practice for 12 years. She has studied wildlife management in Kenya and done animal studies in Istanbul, Turkey. She is a certified acupuncturist and has a special interest in herbal medicine.
