Woodland Veterinary Hospital - Bruce Dennie I thank Woodland vet, and especially Dr. Larson from the bottom of my heart for her kind care of my 13 year old cat and me last night. My cat needed to transition to the other side last night, and Dr. Larson couldn't have been nicer about walking me through options and the process. WVH has taken care of my 4 cats for the past 11 years, and treated me with care and concern when I had to put 2 of them down. They helped me decide when it was time for each of them to go, which I appreciated very much. I totally love this place.

Woodland Veterinary Hospital was founded in 1975 in a converted house on the outskirts of town. The new hospital was built in 2000, just to the north of that first location, and included a large medical facility and boarding kennel. To meet the demand for boarding, and to provide indoor and outdoor spaces for dog training classes, the building was expanded in 2005.
At Woodland Veterinary Hospital, we offer a variety of services to care for your pet. If you have any questions or would like more information on how we can care for your pet, please contact us today. Our staff will get a chance to talk to you and see if you are having any trouble with your pet. We will also go over diet, preventative medicine, and exercise to ensure that your pet is as healthy as possible.
One of my fondest childhood memories is of Dr. Ernie bumping down our New England farm driveway in his El Camino. As our farm's vet, he was a regular visitor who primarily cared for our horses but also was kind enough to care for my pet ladybug (yes, an actual ladybug) when she wouldn't roll over. I was probably 4 or 5 at the time and thought she was just sick. I looked up to Dr. Ernie and I knew he could fix her, so when he had to take her back to his office for proper treatment, I was very grateful!

We had to say goodbye to our Chauncey. The staff took us in on emergency and made every accommodation. We are so grateful even though we didn't catch names hopefully they know who they are. Thank you so much. We are forever grateful. Elizabeth, William, and Erik Fausak

My comments are about the business side of the clinic. I cannot comment on the care side. I made a reservation for four nights of boarding for our dog and was quoted $36 a night. When I dropped our dog off I was informed she needed a larger crate and it would be $41 a night. She currently sleeps quite comfortably in a 2x4 foot crate but apparently she needs a 4x6 foot crate.

In addition I provided the food in portioned meals in ziploc bags including a fish oil capsule with each meal. While on the road I received a telephone call with the information that the capsules were considered medication and there would be an additional charge. Long story short our boarding bill went from $144 to $216 for four nights. Our hotel bill for that period was $285. I think we'll take the dog with us next time.

After going to two different animal hospitals, including the UC Davis small animal clinic, no one was able to figure out what was wrong with my dog who had been reverse sneezing/snorting consistently for two days straight. I called Woodland Veterinary Hospital and they were able to squeeze in an appointment for me the same day. After expressing my concerns to Dr. Leslie Holeman she suggested we do another oral examination (which had been previously done at the UC Davis emergency room) and a rhinoscopy.

She was able to find a 4inch blade of grass deep inside my dogs mouth which was the cause of her discomfort and reverse sneezing. I wish we would have saved ourselves some money and gone there first. The staff is very friendly and they genuinely have your pets best interest in mind. I definitely recommend Woodland Veterinary Hospital.

Love Woodland Veterinary Hospital. They fixed our "mouthy" Yorkie named Toby. Dr. Jill Mikovich saved his leg. He had a infection in his bone of the front leg because the plate and screws that the rescue had put in went bad on him. He had sores that were oozing fluid from the infection. She recommended that we get the metal out of that leg, which we did (even though I was a nervous wreck about it). Removing the plate and screws left him with a month of recovery which we and Dr. Jill (and all the staff at Woodland Vet) took very seriously.

They were very helpful getting his medicine combination right so that he wasn't in pain at all. 2 days ago Toby went back for xrays and blood work. The bone infection is all gone and the holes in the bone where the plate and screws were are filling in. Thank you Dr. Jill for being patient with Toby (even though he wanted to nip at you) and answering all of my questions every step of the way. For anyone reading this review.just call and make the appointment. You'll be glad you did.

I have taken my dog here twice and I have left unhappy both times. I feel this clinic is just a money grab and doesn't really care about the animals. At least the vet I have dealt with. They present well, but their procedures are lacking. Example: they send out a questionnaire for your animal then do not go through the concerns that you have raised in their own questionnaire.

The only place for your dog, cat, reptile, rodent pet, rabbit, etc. care. Great surgery and ICU care. Great boarding for animals with medical needs. Come in and speak to Dr. Rode and you will know the love and expert care your pet will receive. Thank you staff.

Make it clear you guys can't handle big puppies before kicking them out after only less than an hour of boarding. Would expect more effort from a VET hospital.

The vet is amazing but buyer beware The one star is really for the business side of the practice in regards to billing practices, dishonesty, and lack of transparency. I always seem to encounter surprised fees or charges that I didn't agree to. An example is they wanted to charge $75 to draw fluid from an abscess (that had no fluid). That didn't include the lab portion. Furthermore, when I wanted to board my pet I confirmed the required immunizations and told CIV is recommended.

Once I arrive, I was told it was required and they tried to get me to pay for an exam and the shot ($130 extra). It was very telling that they do this because people are in need of boarding.

I cannot say enough good things about these guys! The compassion they show even on the phone is awesome and DVM / DR Robe is awesome and cares about your pet. He treated my dog and never tried to upsell me a single thing my dog didn't need. Prices are great also, compared to competitors.

I was on the road in transit with two Devon Rex kittens when one of them came down with a upper respiratory infection of unknown origin. Two other vets in town we're too busy to help us but Woodland Veterinary took us in almost immediately. Dr. Ellie Johnson diagnosed the issue and prescribed the correct treatment for the problem in short order. Everyone was so kind and helpful and I was able to resume my journey assured that Pounce would be okay. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone seeking the best care for their pets!

I have been taking my pets here for a long time. I love their services and how friendly and outgoing the staff is. They seem always busy which doesn't bother me because they do their work well. Thank you Woodland Vet!

Excessive wait times and rude clerical staff. Only so much you can blame COVID for and I m tired of it. Technician supervisor and Dr Rode highly unprofessional. The care you get here is suboptimal as well. With all of the superior vets in Davis close by, not sure why you would take a chance on this place. You will be disappointed or thrown out like trash if you say something. My pets are doing SO much better since we switched to Davis.

I am sharing this experience so people know what to expect if you chose Woodland Veterinary as your pets care facility. In a day where there are way to many "Karens" I hope the information I share does not come across as unrealistic expectations or ill directed anger. I have have 3 dogs that get regular care at Woodland Veterinary Hospital. We continue to go there because our Dr. Mikovich is kind and caring, we trust her and she is good.

The front desk staff was once very helpful and caring as well. In the last two months I have had two of my dogs have their dental cleaning the cost for both approx $2400.00. My little guy just had his procedure Thursday and on Sunday started feeling poorly. I called this morning to see if I could get (pay for) some medication for diarrhea. The front desk girl said that to get him medication takes 48-72 hours unless I would like to bring him in for an "urgent" care visit at the "urgent care" cost.

The wait would be long but I could come in and they could try and fit me in. The front staff are not kind or caring no matter how much money you have spent with them, you are treated as if you should be grateful they picked up your call. When you call them, every time you are placed on hold. Every time, no matter what time of day. Sadly, I called around and found an appointment at another vet for this afternoon. I am not sure if this is just the way veterinary medicine is now but I am searching for a new vet and I am sad to leave Dr. Mikovich.

Usually, we have a wonderful experience over the years with our three beagles. Unfortunately, there was an accident on I-80 and I kept calling to alert the staff that I was running behind, but the automatic answering message just placed me in a waiting queue. I kept being put on hold and the call kept dropping. When I finally got through, I was put on hold by Katelyn for several minutes.

I explained to her the situation and she checked in and let me know the veterinarian had left and they never received my call according to their call log. We have taken our precious 3 beagles to this place for several years, but at this point, we don't trust them based upon Katelyn's arrogance and lack of empathy.

We recently got an older dog and needed to get him set up with a veterinarian. We have used Woodland Vet Hospital in the past and they really helped us get our new dog set up with a checkup and discuss some items about weight (who didn't gain some during the pandemic). We went when they were only doing appointments where they would come out and get your pet and take them in for their appointment and then call to discuss any items that came up during the visit.

You can also pick up prescriptions. Staff are always friendly and our new dog was happy with the vet techs who took care of him. They are very busy with so many people taking on pets during the pandemic.

We had such a great experience with WVH over the weekend I felt it was necessary to write a review. My dogs got into a fight and my senior dog ended up getting bite on the ear. The bite itself wasn't bad but the ear filled up with fluid. I normally take my dogs to Banfield, so I called to get an appt. They couldn't get me in for 2 weeks!

I called several locations throughout the area and they were all pretty much the same. I was furious, the amount of money we have spent with them and this was the kind of care we got. My mom uses WVH so I decided to give them a call. They got me in within 2 hours and were amazing! I expected to pay an emergency appt and was bracing myself for a $700-900 bill, but not even close! It was so affordable and they gave my old girl such great care. Thank you WVH!

Great, efficient service and communication, from the first phone call to the way they write their receipts. Great attention to our dog's issue and clearly described the options and recommendations - best vet service we've ever received!

I've never met our vet in person bc of Covid but she seems really kind over the phone. Dr Larsen I believe? Idk but when they come get my puppy from the car for her shots, she is literally peeing from excitement haha so I guess it's fun in there. When she comes out she is still excited and ready to play. Makes me happy. We did a wellness puppy package that is totally worth the money. I recommend.

I love the doctors but it's like Fort Knox to get through on the phone. I am always told they are busy with someone else they need to put you on hold or now they will take your number and call you back. Why even answer the phone. Now they have a app. Well it's easy to use but what happens then? It doesn't say when to pick up it's frustrating it might be time to look else where

Since Dr. Pau has been gone, we saw Dr. Rode. He has failed us. He wasn't able to do a simple skin test. If he had done it right, he would have seen the mite infestation. Instead, he kept giving us more steroids and continued to keep my dog on steroids even though it was unnecessary. Iatrogenic Cushing's disease, my dog is now slowly dying because of Dr. Rode's incompetence.

The steroids pushed my dog into IMHA, autoimmune hemolytic anemia. My dog's immune system is attacking her red blood cells. When I called to confront him, he said, "aw, poor thing." I could not believe my ears. Dr. Rode, next time you do your stupid skin test with a tape, don't do it. You have to pull some fur out and look at the root of the fur under the microscope because mites LIVE AT THE ROOT, not on the shaft. I'm going to have to put my dog to sleep pretty soon because her organs are starting to fail. Thank you so much for killing my dog. I watched her come into this world and now I have to watch her leave.

My dog suffered an injury and her back paw was curled into a ball and she would not put any weight on it. Upon examination it was all red and swollen. Thinking she might have been bitten by a snake or stepped on glass, I called several pet ER's. Woodland Vet Hospital was able to see her right away on a Sunday, and the price was very reasonable considering it was an emergency visit.

The doctor fixed her right up, and she was walking normally just a couple of hours later. I would highly recommend this clinic and know for a fact that the same service in at our local university hospital would have been much, much more expensive.

Dr. Keith Rode great vet. Made three trips. Spent $1005 for wellness for two dogs. Teeth not included. The long greeting the front desk manager requires to tell every single caller the same message every time eliminates the opportunity for a quick transfer or answer. Finally I think the use of assistants is growing in both human and animal care. It is concerning.

We don't use Woodland Vet as a vet since I live in Davis, but we use them for boarding my dog when we go out of town. I can't believe the care my dog gets and he hates coming home when I pick him up. They go out of their way to contact you and to give you updates and they don't care if you call to check on your dog. I'm not a trusting person when it comes to my dog but I will trust Woodland Veterinary Hospital anytime.

We saw Dr. Johnson for a corgi we just adopted. She took her time looking over her, gave us good advice about her nutrition and diet (our dog was dealing with digestive issues), and looked over her international vaccination records to ensure everything was in order. Turned out she was missing her bordatella shots so advised us to get it done, but also said it might be better to come back at a different time because our dog was dealing with an upset stomach at the visit.

She also gave us several options for her monthly flea and heartworm preventative and helped us pick one that worked best for us. The front office people are really nice and courteous. We get text alerts for appointments and we're looking forward to leaving our dog with their boarding services for our upcoming trip. I'll update my review after the trip is over.

We are new pup owners and this office and doctors always provide the best service! Friendly and so gentle with our boy! He is always excited to be there. That may change when he leaves his jewels there in a month!

I come from West Sac to visit this place because it's solid and has many services. They sell specialty food, board animals, and even have vets that see other less common animals like rabbits. Finding a trustworthy vet can be difficult, but I am glad I found this place. I found it from other yelpers and now I gotta give back and share my experience.

I bring my cat and rabbits for regular care and other specialty issues (example: my rabbit needs a tooth trim or my cat has allergies). It's a big facility and the appointment availability is convenient, I have had some last minute needs that they fulfilled. It can be a bit pricey, especially for the medication, but overall I come back because I trust the vets and the staff is great.

I'm going to be honest, I have a pain in the @ss cat when it comes to taking him to the Vet. He is mean, ferocious, and down right horrible. I have been putting off taking him to the vet because of his temperament, however; my fiance talked me into it since we noticed some teeth issues. I had to take my cat three times to Woodland Vet Hospital.

The first time was for a wellness check-up to see if there was anything wrong with him. Since he was absolutely a pain and extremely horrible, they were not able to do a full exam. The Vet technician, I didn't catch his name but they told me he is the "cat whisperer" was hands down amazing handling my upset feline. They asked me to give him some "kitty valum" and bring him back.

So they charged me for the exam and the meds but informed me that the next time I would not be charged. They also told me if I wanted to drop him off prior to the appointment that they would give the meds to him. The second appointment was to see if he would be calm enough with the meds. to do the full exam. They said he took the meds with a pill pocket; however, he was not calm.

Come to find out he didn't eat the meds at all, but I was still charged for the medication even though he didn't use it. They ended up sedating him since he didn't take the meds and was still not calm. After he was sedated and they did an exam, he ended up needing a tooth extraction due to a lesion on one of his back tooth. The third visit was for the tooth extraction.

For one tooth, it came out to a little under a thousand dollars. I called around to other Vets and this seemed like the normal going rate for dentistry. Some places even higher price for one tooth. All in all, I think Woodland Vet Hospital has done a fabulous job treating my feisty feline. He is a sweet cat, when he's not at the Vet! ** Update** I originally put 4/5 stars; however, they deserve 5/5.

They refunded me back the meds My cat didn't consume and gave him excellent care. Dr. Rode even called me twice to inform me how my kitty was doing. Thank you again Woodland Vet Hospital!

Woodland Vet Hospital has been seeing our pets for approximately 13yrs. They've taken care of our 3 cats as well as our 4 dogs. We moved out of Woodland for several yrs and still brought our pets to see Dr Rode. A three hour drive! Everyone there is kind and compassionate to the animals under their care. They are all professional and listen to what you have to say.

They understand you know your pet best and use that to help make a diagnosis. I completely trust and recommend them not only for the best veterinary care but boarding as well. Whenever we drop off our dogs they're excited and unafraid; when we pick them up they act like they want to stay! Lol We will always bring our pets here.

Great Staff, they took care of my puppy (Bella), and did amazing with her. They explained everything to us with a T, not leave anything out. They always did follow up call with us after Bella was seen by them A+
