My first visit to Westside. Dr. Mayer and Allison helped evaluate my Yorkie-poo. What a tremendous team. Genuine, thoughtful professionals who really take interest in your pet. They gave my dog an extensive evaluation and then talked to me at length about planning, treatment and costs. Very reasonable prices too. I've had dogs for 57 years and been to a number of vet offices but this practice is hands down the best. The professionals here really take pride in their practice.

Westside Animal Hospital's staff and trio of DVMs are some of the absolute best in the Triangle. Caring, compassionate, and extremely knowledgable, from their treatment of the bumps and scrapes of everyday life to regular, routine maintenance care and beyond is second to none. My five year old Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, Trajan, has been going to Westside for his entire life and has a wonderful relationship with the veterinarians and they know him well.

This team really goes the extra mile to take care of the animals they see, listen to their human family members' concerns, and recommend the best course(s) of action for any given situation. I cannot recommend Westside Animal Hospital highly enough to anyone in the area looking for a vet!

We love Westside Animal Hospital and have been going there for many years with our pets. They are so wonderful and care so much for our beloved pets, it really shows. I just dropped off some clean towels that we no longer needed and they were so appreciative! What a great group and I highly recommend them!

Westside Animal Hospital wowed us last week when we were in need of an urgent assessment for a 1-yo pup we'd just rescued from a small-town shelter. It was a busy week for all vet clinics, including Westside, but Westside was the only one that found a way to work us into their schedule with a same-day request - despite the fact that we hadn't been to the clinic for years.

We so appreciate the unusually detailed evaluation Dr. Michelle Argetsinger provided, the extra care from vet tech Denise, and the time they both devoted to addressing our questions and concerns. This is a first-class veterinary hospital located in a very homey setting. Definitely a 10/10 experience.

The techs and vets here are so compassionate. They listen to your concerns about your pup and truly tailor treatment to your specific pet. I love coming here! I have left practice with another dog because they kept insisting I put dog through dental cleaning. They're prices were twice what I was quoted and paid elsewhere. Still bring my other dog here and will continue until they insist on dental work

This is top quality vet service that we feel is simply user friendly in all respects. Great docs for our dog, friendly staff, and very service oriented. We are extremely pleased with Westside and will be happy to continue taking our dog there going forward.

I have been using Westside for treatment of my furbabies for over 25 years. They are amazing. They have helped me through all stages of their life's including the only bad day of pet ownership when they have to cross the bridge. I have moved away but still drive 45 minutes to see them. I currently have 4 dogs and a kitten, all treated there.

First experience with West Side and Dr. Betsy Williams. Dr Williams was very knowledgeable and professional ( while also easy to talk with, kind and a good sense of. humor. ) The receptionist (? name ) who I dealt with on the phone was very helpful and easy to work with. The cost of our initial visit was heavy - $600+ - but it covered everything - blood work, heart worm test, Apoquel, etc.

I am most pleased with my decision to transfer Rosie to West Side now that my long time vet at St. Francis hospital, which has closed, is no longer available, Thanks for being there, Carole LeBar

Dr. Bowden abs Dr. Bossard have gone above and beyond to comfort me after hours on a condition my dog has, given me honest advice, and have a way with my dog that I haven't experienced in a vet in a while. I never leave reviews, but our furry friends need good care. Would recommend them to anyone!

The team was very responsive and helpful. We asked so many questions since this is our first puppy. And they answered all of them. The doctor did a comprehensive check-up of our puppy and addressed all of our concerns. She prescribed some solutions to use for her skin irritation and gave us a schedule for vaccination. I will definitely recommend them.

I called to get my cat in to be seen for a UTI and they got me in the same day. They listened to all of my concerns, symptoms, past history, etc. and were very helpful and friendly. Will be returning if my regular vet is ever closed when I have a pet emergency again.

By far the best place I've taken my dog. My chihuahua is not the most socialized dog and is often very nervous/anxious in situations where he doesn't know all the people in the room. He also only likes to be held by a few people. At Westside every vet that has worked with him has been patient and very kind to him. Would recommend to any pet owner.

Dr. Hoover, Dr. Broussard and Dr. Williams have taken excellent care of several generations of dogs and cats for our family. We trust their expertise and advice. They also have a great team of Vet Techs who know what they are doing and are always professional and helpful.

Staff were friendly, efficient, and thorough. I know there have been many changes to the way healthcare is performed lately, but any stress or frustration felt by the vet team did not come through and I respect and appreciate that. My pet was looked over and we received medication in under 30 min after we got checked in. That's awesome! Thank you!

The team here was fantastic, everyone was super friendly and they showed genuine care and respect for my two kittens. They also gave me more than enough info to properly treat and care for my kittens. If you have a pet, and are looking for a great vet, I'd highly recommend starting here!

We are new to the area and so happy to have found our new vet. Our dog had an emergency, two weeks shy of her appointment and Westside understand the urgency and got her right in. We were met with great knowledge, education, and a very thorough exam. Thanks for your help with Maple!

Westside animal hospital We were referred to this clinic by our vet. On the day of the procedure our cat was admitted at 7:45 a.m. and spent about 5 hours till 12:30 p.m in her small carrier without food water or ability to move waiting for her turn. Being the first in line was the last served. No explanations just :oops sorry. Our total bill was $1204,25. For sake of your pet and rip-off stay away of this cruelty. Best regards Trella.

Recently visited Westside for my cats annual check up and vaccinations. It was extremely covid friendly and super easy. I stayed in my car while they brought in my cat. The doctor called when she was with her to discuss any concerns and when they were done they brought her back out to me and I paid right there. Super convenient and efficient model that didn't require me to go inside at all. They also printed out all the information so I could have a copy at the end too!

I have taken my pets to Westside Animal Hospital for well over 20 years. They do a consistently good job for the animals, and the staff members are all pleasant and helpful. They put my dogs at ease and obviously have genuine affection for them. They're even nice to me! There is no way to single out just one person. Across the board, they are top notch!

The folks at Westside have been taking care of my dog for over 5 years and my parents' dogs for at least 20 years. They are thorough, professional and place the welfare of clients' animals first and foremost. If I have a question the vet calls back within a few hours. They help my anxious dog through her appointments with positive reinforcement and yes, a few treats. High marks all around. If you're looking for a vet practice you won't be disappointed with Westside.

Through the years and through the worst of the pandemic, the team of techs and vets have been there for us and for Cricket and Sally, our two dogs. Annual checkups, teeth cleaning, telephone consults, and more. I love that the techs and vets know and love our dogs and that they are very supportive of how we care for them.

Dr Hoover was recommended by our friend's veterinarian. We are new to the area and would like to express our gratitude to the team at Westside Animal Hospital for the wonderful care they gave to our Russian blue kitty: Blue. We adopted him a few years ago, and as it turned out, he needed to have all of his teeth removed due to Juvenile Somatitis.

We were very worried about him, as he has never been apart from us since we adopted him, and he is very nervous and easily frightened. We need not to have worried, Dr. Hoover's staff was Amazing! They took Great care of Blue, while keeping us informed every step of the way. We followed Dr. Hoover's instructions to the T. and our kitty is doing Fantastically Well.

Better than Ever! He is literally healthier than he has Ever been, It was a wonderful experience; everything was done in a very safe COVID-19 free way and we can't say how happy we are and how grateful we are. Thanks Again Team Hoover. YOU ARE THE BEST! Gordon, Marilyn & Blue - Chapel Hill, NC

One of the WORST experiences I have ever had pertaining to the well-being of my animal. Being chastised by a vet who only saw dollar signs on my dogs head and not wanting to listen, while blaming /ME/ for the health of my animal and not understanding nor wanting to listen to the facts or history surrounding my animal. Understandably, yes I was a. new client, but all that was pushed on me was the fake notion of "science backed formulas" and companies used, to which the FDA recently came out with THIS to say about 1 company on your "scientist created formulas" list which I tried to explain we had already been through. You refused, when i asked, to tell me the grade of heart murmur my dog had.

Dr. Broussard is the best veterinarian I know! I trust her explicitly! I have had the pleasure of working with her even before she became a veterinarian and I know she is honest and straightforward! She only does what is best for you and your babies with no judgement!

I've had several negative experiences bringing my cats here. This most recent trip has convinced me to bring my cats elsewhere in Durham as I had a truly uncomfortable, anxious experience. The tech that was with us made a point to immediately remind me that my cats were flagged as aggressive and poorly behaved. She was flippant and ready to get the exam over with.

I waited for longer than the time it took for both cats to have both of their exams. The tech and doctor were shaky and distant and the doctor (a new one for us) callously threw out issues without explaining them to me. In the past, Dr. Broussard has been warm with my cats and brought in catnip and wet food to down them down. Dr. Williams acted as though we were an inconvenience and I left the office feeling like I'd spent entirely too much for entirely too little. Will not be returning here.

I had a very positive experience here with my cat, an opinionated Maine coon who despises the vet and is usually very difficult. Everyone I interacted with--from the office staff to the vet tech to the doc herself--was professional and kind, and they clearly love the animals they serve. Although my cat wasn't perfect, they handled him very well and used minimally restrictive measures to efficiently complete the exam. Further, they had my budget in mind when ordering tests and studies.

Everything was very transparent in terms of cost and risk/benefit. At the end of the visit, I received copies of lab results and the typed note the vet put into my cat's chart. I absolutely recommend this practice!

There is no doubt that Dr. Hoover is a top-notch veterinary dentist, but he's also a top-notch person. Cooper is just another patient to most vets, but Dr. Hoover didn't treat him as such. Yes, I am THAT dog mom. My dog is the most precious pup to ever live (yup, I said that!). Dr. Hoover has compassion and kindness that goes beyond good bedside manner.

He let me believe that my dog was the most precious pup ever and could tell that this surgery would be harder on me than Cooper. He called me during the surgery with an update, and allowed me to pick up Cooper immediately after the surgery. He knew recovery at home would be better for my high-stress dog than staying in his office all day. Dr. Hoover and his staff made this experience the best it could possibly be. Too bad he doesn't work on humans :)

I have been at Westside since moving to NC in 2008. This is the most amazing vet clinic I've ever gone to, with staff I truly treasure. They go out of their way to make us at home at each and every visit. There is no one I trust more regarding the care of my precious babies. Thank you, Westside!

This was one of the best experiences we have ever had at the doctor. Our dog broke her tooth, and they were able to do a root canal so she wouldn't have to loose it! The staff is so loving and caring, I instantly knew Holly was in great hands. We will be coming back with all of our pets from now on!

Our pup has an underbite and needed to get teeth removed. Our Vet offered a more aggressive treatment plan so we wanted to get a second opinion. We called NC State's Vet Hospital, their dentist recently left but they recommended Dr. Hoover at Westside Animal Hospital. Removing teeth is a routine procedure that most Vets can do but we wanted to see a specialist to ensure that the problem was being corrected with the least amount of teeth being removed.

With that being said, I definitely recommend getting a second opinion here. It was a bit of a drive for us but worth it. Dr. Hoover and his assistants were fantastic from start to finish. Extremely happy with the decision that we made. We also heard another Vet mentioned that they referred business to Dr. Hoover so that was reassuring. Highly recommend if you are close to the area.

I don't understand how this place got so many good reviews. I usually go to New hope but try to find a closer place to get tick head removed from my dog's skin. I told the staff on the phone about it and was told to go to my regular vet without any further explanation.

I called around to several clinics to bring our cat Max in for a last minute appointment on a Saturday. Westside was the one that made time on a full day ("we can fit him in between appointments"), because it was quite urgent. They were so friendly and helpful, and so kind with our cat Max (who was definitely not kind in return). What I appreciated most was the vet sitting down with me and thoroughly discussing his situation with me, and carefully answering all my questions. I appreciate the care and kindness. Thank you - we'll definitely be back!

I have been taking my dogs and cats to Westside for over 20 years now. I recently had a dog that had many chronic issues who just a few weeks ago had to be put down. The folks are Westside went so far beyond expectations and care so much for 'our' pets and the myriad of decisions that need to be made from the beginning of their lives as sweet pups or kitties to the end of life issues.

There is no doubt in my mind that this process leading up to this final decision could not have been handled with as much understanding, compassion and grace as it was by Drs. Broussard and Hoover and their staff. If you are reading this trying to make a decision if Westside Animal Hospital is the place for you and your pets, do not hesitate for a moment more. They are the very best and I have had good experiences with vets in my years so I know excellence when I see (and feel) it.

We've been bringing our animals to Westside Animal hospital for about a couple years now and we've been pleased with the service. The staff has gotten to know us and our dogs, and they keep good records and help with reminders. I feel that we've gotten good advice about treatment options and have not been intentionally misled to more costly services. I've also been able to talk to the vets on the phone when discussing treatment which has impressed me.

The main service that we have been using is the dental cleaning which is performed by Dr. Hoover. The teeth look nice and white after the treatment and hopefully it saves us a lot more money down the road. The only thing that kind of surprises me is their suggestion to try some alternative/holistic treatment such as acupuncture. Perhaps acupuncture would have worked in our case but it seems a little strange to mix that with more scientific methods. Maybe I shouldn't worry about that though.

What a great experience! After moving from Chapel Hill to Durham I needed a closer vet. They seem to do ONLY what is necessary, which you can't say for every vet/dentist/whatever. Super sweet with the dog, and really thorough. Gave me the option of getting meds called in to Kroger or Walmart because they'd be cheaper- gotta love that! Over all I'm glad I read the Yelp reviews and saved myself the hassle of looking around.

I feel like I'm in a rap video: West! Siiide! Now that I've gotten that out of my system, I can talk to you about this vet. We recently switched over from Banfield in order to bring our pets to a hospital that doesn't have as much staff turnover, or push their programs on us. I couldn't have been happier with Dr. B who was just absolutely phenomenal with both of our dogs -- two pinschers, with one a lot of anxiety and one with a little dog attitude problem -- not an easy task.

She sat on the floor as they warmed up to her, and soon the little one was transformed into a sweet lap dog just like he acts with us; and the other was fawning for attention. The doctor carefully went over their background via records and also discussion with us. She also addressed our main concerns (posturing-not-producing; bladder leakage after spay; and separation anxiety) by posing options for treatment, starting us off on the most conservative paths -- more fiber in the food; a low dosage; and reading a book on how to coach the dog to a better comfort zone.

The doctor also caught advanced gum disease in our younger dog (now I feel like I'm broadcasting why I'm not an actual mother yet). But this was something that had gone unnoticed by our previous vets. meaning more $ for us, and more discomfort for our pet. Regarding the medication, we were instructed to call with an update after one week of administration. Again, with the bad parent thing, we actually failed to call until. well. until we ran out of the prescription.

But at that point, the doctor didn't guilt us. She personally hopped on a call with me to get an update and talk about next steps. We have an appointment scheduled for the gum tissue/teeth problems, and I hope that they'll show as much care with that as they have with the general stuff.

My cat has been here twice to have his teeth pulled for reabsorptive leisions (sp). My only caveat would be that Dr. Hoover should have been more forceful during the first visit about getting all the cat's teeth pulled in a preventative way. He did present it as an option, but didn't convey that the cat's other teeth would inevitably deteriorate. Dental extraction is very expensive, $800 to $1,200 each time. Still, I think I am going to switch all my cat's care to this clinic next year.

The vet was kind to my cat and friendly to me, but he was inconsiderate of my budget. He guilted me into getting expensive tests for my cat just in case her fatal condition was actually a curable condition even though she had none of the classic signs of the curable condition. He gave me false hope in exchange for my $150.

Both vets have been extremely kind, patient, and REASONABLE. I have had some of the best care for my three cats ever, and I have seen quite a few vets as I have moved a several times in the past few years. They will give good advice over the phone without insisting that you bring your pet in every single time, unless they truly think you need professional help. I can't say enough good things, except that I trust my babies (aka cats) with them.
