Van Stavern Animal Hospital Van Stavern Small Animal Hospital is proud to serve the Brazos Valley, Bryan/College Station area and the surrounding communities. We are dedicated to providing the highest level of veterinary medicine along with friendly, compassionate service. Services
Yes, and we would love to see you! Please contact the office with any of your pet's needs, or submit an online appointment request. Texas law mandates that a client-veterinarian relationship is maintained in order to prescribe any treatment or medication. Appointments are preferred. An appointment allows our doctors to devote time and attention to each patient so that we may ensure quality of care.
Our veterinarians are skilled in routine surgery and provide spay, neuter, dental, and other common surgical services. All patients are closely monitored by trained veterinary technicians and assistants while under anesthesia according to AAHA recommendations and protocols. We believe the best cure is prevention, whether that means keeping your pet's annual vaccinations up to date or ensuring that they receive effective medications to thwart those pesky parasites.Van Stavern Small Animal Hospital offers competitively-priced prescriptions filled both in-house and through our online pharmacy.
Only 12%-15% of animal hospitals are accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association. Accreditation is required for human hospitals but voluntary for animal hospitals. The American Animal Hospital Association is the only organization to accredit companion animal veterinary hospitals. To become AAHA accredited, practices undergo regular, comprehensive onsite evaluations by AAHA veterinary experts who evaluate each practice on more than 900 standards of veterinary care - including surgical procedures, pain management, dental care, management of patient stress, nutrition, preventative care, and more.
Trained and caring kennel assistants monitor your pet extensively and address any issues directly with a doctor. All activity (appetite, water intake, urination, bowel movements, attitude) are electronically recorded for the entirety of your pet's stay. A sensitive stomach diet is also provided if you forget to bring your pet's regular diet, or would prefer they eat our kennel diet.

The BEST vet office we have ever had. Oh my! First of all, all three providers here are fantastic and are so knowledgeable. We ended up choosing Dr. Nelson to be our main primary care vet, and we couldn't be more appreciative of the care she provides our boys. She is always gentle, informative, shows restraint when needed, is never trying to sell stuff we don't need, and always looking out for our babies best interest.

Most of all, when our dog of a lifetime suddenly got very ill, she gave us 9 extra months with him by catching his disease extremely quick and working with Texas A&M's team as well. When it was time for our baby to leave us, she and her team (Alicia) worked so hard to give us the only goodbye I could fathom. We will forever owe this clinic and this staff so much for the peace that they brought us during one of the most difficult times in our lives. I'm not the easiest client, and neither are my dogs, but boy do they handle us well! If you're looking for the best care possible for your babies, this is the place.

I do not know. They would not see one of our wolfdogs. I have heard they are good. I wish I could have tried them out. I have a wolfdog sanctuary and at times like what we just went through with Willow I wish we could have gotten in. I am so thankful I found someone who could get her in, quickly. To the owner, the receptionist did tell me that you all would not treat wolfdogs. If there was a misunderstanding, please let me know.

I use Van Stavern for my 3 dogs and my cat. They make them all feel like they are the only animals in the building. I have never been uncomfortable letting my babies go out of my sight for tests/exams. They just let your cat be a cat when it wants to, as you can see in my photos. Their prices are extremely reasonable!

Van Stavern has been our home vet clinic for years and they always take great care of our pets! We love Dr. Schwartz, but the other vets are wonderful as well. And the staff is completely amazing!

Seemed strange to drop off Rosie for her annual appointment and wait in the parking lot for her return. I understand perfectly the reason for this precaution for all of you and us. Thank you for being there for us for the last 25 years. We love you all and so have our dogs.

This is the veterinarian office we use for our dog. They take such very good care of him. It is clear that they love him and know his personality. That is a big deal because a pet is a member of the family. And this is the same care and attention they show for all their patients. We do not enjoy having to board our dog when we must be out of town. But we do sleep a little sounder knowing that he is getting fantastic care and attention while we're away.

Van Stavern SAH has been my go-to bet for my mom and dad for 15 years before I moved to the area in 2012 and I began taking my pups. I love them! They're like family and Dr. Laura Bay Williams is MOST awesome. Knowledgeable, compassionate and kind. The only place I want to take my animals. They're also associated with Texas A&M Small Animal Hospital, so there's that! Gig em!

I am very grateful to have found this vet at this time. We just moved here and I relied on google reviews to find a vet for my yorkie who was having issues with his teeth. They got him in the same day I called and he was scheduled for surgery the next week. They took excellent care of my little guy and answered all of my questions and nervous phone calls with the same patience and calmness each time.

I understand it is a difficult time for everyone right now with the social distancing and quarantine so I was very appreciative that the staff was there to help my dog and I. They were very upfront and thorough with their care and very affordable for us. They even called a few days later to check up on him. He's doing really well right now and we have Van Stavern to thank.

Dr. Laura Bay-Williams has taken care of our rescue dogs for 20 plus years. We have had four in that period of time and have had nothing but wonderful experiences with her excellent care of our babies.

We recently switched to Van Stavern Animal Hospital and have been working with Dr. Staci Dennis on getting our diabetic 12 year old dog regulated on insulin. Abbey was diagnosed 8 months ago and was still not regulated following our previous vet's recommendations. We are absolutely delighted with Dr. Dennis. She actually listens to our concerns and patiently answers our questions.

She responds within a day to any email I send and has called me to check on Abbey's progress. She is not offended if I make a suggestion, or ask her why she recommends a change in food or insulin levels. She has encouraged us to do home testing and do curves at home to lessen the stress on Abbey who gets upset when she is left at the vet's all day. Dr. Dennis also recommended a treatment for Abbey's twin sister, Maggie for her allergies. And within a week we saw a dramatic difference! We are so pleased to be working with Dr. Dennis and just wish we'd found her sooner.
