My pregnant dog had a large puppy stuck and needed a cesarean section. We tried 9 different animals hospitals for two days until I was told they would help us. Due to having to wait almost 3 days, the puppies died. We brought her there to save her. We were told they wouldn't save the mother unless we had $10,000-$12.000 cash on hand! Of course we didn't.

We were sent home for our princess to die. They wouldn't give us our dog back until we paid 300 just be told "no money, no help". They wouldn't even take a payment plan. What happened to vets caring and helping animals. It's all about the money! The vet didn't care or show compassion. We would have to pay the $12k to save her life. Had someone help us days earlier and if they allowed us to make payments our dog would be alive. Sickens me! Not to mention $12k Is robbery when the national average is $4 which I could have done. If you care about your pet and don't have thousands, don't go there!

Everyone at Upstate Veterinary Specialties are fantastic. They went above and beyond the two times I have had to be there with my cat Apollo. They saved his life and I highly recommend them to anyone who wants to know their animal is in great hands. Shout out to Liz G, Emily M, Sarah, Doctor Scott and Doctor Wolf. You were all amazing!

When I mean they did a great job taking care of my dog they went all out! I didn't have enough money for surgery and all the staff helped us call clincs and organization to get the help we need, with hours of us getting denied, the staff put money down for his surgery which we are so thankful unfortunately he didn't survive the surgery at a different clinic but I'm thankful for all the help and he fought a good battle and I'm forever grateful! In loving memory of Tillow

I will never go anywhere else for my fur babies specialty services! UVS was nothing but all around phenomenal! Last year Spice (the beautiful baby you see in these photos) was diagnosed with mammary cancer due to my poor choices as a fur mom. This caused a highly expensive and intensive 2 part surgery. As well as chemotherapy sessions afterwards. The oncology staff were not only very pleasant, very welcoming, completey understanding, and extremely knowledgeable but they also treated Spice with the upmost care.

They always had good words about her after every visit and they remembered her each time we came in. (Which was extremely impressive, considering the amount of clients they see daily and our visits were always a month apart from each other.) And after all her treatments were completed, they took a picture with her, gave us a graduation form, and put a star on her kennel that read, "I'm a star at UVS".

Thanks to their honestly and their understanding through this very difficult time, Spice is finally back to her happy and healthy self! Thank you so very much UVS! Spice and her humans couldnt be anymore happier!

We drove in from the Berkshires with our very sick cat, Bandit. We knew it wasn't going to be good news. Dr. O'Brien with staff support did a thorough exam and confirmed the news about an aggressive tumor in the head. We made the difficult, but humane decision to end Bandit's suffering. We were thankful his condition only started a few weeks ago, so no protracted period of hoping it would improve. Dr. O'Brien was so compassionate and caring during this process. As well, the staff was sympathetic during our visit. Thanks to all at Upstate Veterinary Specialties for your kindness. Mary and I will never forget you.

A few days ago, we had to bring our senior cat in for an acute medical situation at 2a. Greeted immediately by a friendly man at the desk outlining potential tests along with fair and clear pricing. The vet tech taking our feline for care was equally as kind. Meeting with the wonderful Dr. Cleveland gave us peace-of-mind that euthanasia was the most humane choice. As sad as that decision was, every moment spent at UVS was made better by the incredible staff who made us comfortable as well as our sweet, feisty girl.

Upstate people are Great: Kind, Compassionate, Honest and will do everything they possibly can to help your critters and you. This is a very popular animal hospital for good reason, so you can't always get in-but when this happened to me and my Lab-they did their Very best, did a Full ER intake with vitals-and didn't charge me a cent because their eye specialist was swamped with work. I think Upstate is Outstanding.

Our Doberman Shadow was diagnosed with heart arrhythmias by our local vet. We opted to drive the 3+ hours one way to bring him to Upstate Veterinary Specialties, and it was definitely worth the drive! Cornell Animal Hospital is much closer but we have had nothing short of horrible experiences there with every aspect of what they call "care". and will never go to or recommend them to anyone. WHAT a difference in everything at/about Upstate!

I can not say enough good things about the the cardiologist (Dr. Sedacca), and everyone encountered before, during, and after my visit there! They were pleasant, caring, and professional. We got personalized care that was all about Shadow and his well being, the way it should be! Due to their excellent care, and after less then 24 hours on the prescribed heart meds, Shadow is now back to being his active happy 10yr old "puppy" acting self and we are looking forward to many more happy years with our boy!

I will continue to make the necessary trips up here as well as spread the word to everyone I know on the excellent experience they will have here! Here is a smile from him to you!

Our cat D had a blockage in his urethra and he was seen almost immediately when we took him up there! Although we had financial restraints to give him the best possible care he was flushed with a catheter and sent back home with us with medication. The next day he was eating and drinking and peeing normal feeling better still putting up a fight! We would love to give a huge shout out to the vet tech Taleah who was great as could be with her knowledge, hard work, passion and calming us down and helping us through a stressful situation. When hard and passionate work is obvious in someone it should be recognized and she was amazing! Thank you guys for everything and happy holidays!

I needed a cart for my retired service dog. The rehabilitation department was absolutely wonderful. They took the measurements ( also got lucky with a new lift harness! ) and gave us the form. We ordered the K-9 cart and had it shipped there. They helped fit the cart to him and made sure it was set right. They instructed us in it's use and they watched to be certain he would be able to use it.

My old pup is mobile again! I can't say enough praise for the caring, informative and thoughtful help we received. The best part is it all took less than a week to get it all completed.
