Services
Grew up in Grand Junction and attended both Fruita Junior High and Fruita Monument High School in the 1980s. Graduated from the Colorado State University Veterinary Program in 2000. Started Kokopelli Animal Hospital in the fall of 2005. Dr. Lastine joined the our hospital in spring of 2009. She grew up in the Four Corner's region and graduated from Colorado State University in 1997.
Our pets cannot speak for themselves and laboratory work can give us a better picture as to how our four legged family members are feeling on the inside. Kokopelli Animal Hospital has advanced in house lab capabilities. Blood samples can be obtained to evaluate blood chemistry values, CBC, thyroid, heartworm, Felv/FIV testing and coagulation times to name a few.
Kokopelli Animal Hospital has a full service pharmacy stocked with a large selection of medications and supplements. These medications can be rapidly filled and sent home with our patients. We also offer a convenient online pharmacy and these medications can be shipped directly to your door. In addition to medication, KAH also carries prescription dog and cat foods which help treat a variety of chronic conditions ranging from kidney disease to diabetes to name a few.
Significant disease can be found in a pet's mouth both on the teeth and beneath the gum line. Dirty teeth harbor bacteria, which can affect the overall health of a pet as well as affect their quality of life. The doctors and staff at KAH have undergone additional training with a veterinary dental specialist to offer advanced dental care.

We've been taking our animals here for about 5 years now. They've always been amazing and super accomodating. Couldn't ask for a better vet

Super nice clinic and the vet was very kind and caring. They offered and recommended several supplements, not a pressure sell.

KAH is a fantastic veterinary practice! Everyone we have interacted with has been very friendly, professional, and thorough. Dr. Lastine and Dr. Bechtel have both been absolutely wonderful to work with. They take ample time to address concerns and to discuss all care options--we never feel rushed through an appointment or pushed to make a snap decision. I definitely recommend KAH to anyone looking for a vet in the Fruita area!

We recently had to put our 14 year old Lab down. Our vet was out of town so I called Kokopelli Animal Hospital and they got me right in. Amanda and Dr. Bechtel were absolutely awesome! They were so kind and patient and compassionate. They gave him a nice blanket to lie on and gave him treats to make him feel at ease. It was the most peaceful process I have ever experienced. Thank you again!

We were recommended by a friend and have taken all of our pets there since. They have great staff and the vets there don't make you feel pushed into doing anything that you don't want for your pet. Would highly recommend them.

I chose Kokopelli Vets on the basis of their excellent reputation and community participation. I was able to get an appointment with Dr. Lastine. My dogs and cat are being cared for by a well educated, experienced and compassionate veterinarian and her staff. Many veterinary practices in Mesa County have been acquired by "National Corporate Entities" who no longer support Mesa County Animal Services and their non-profit spay neuter assistance programs through Project PUPs. Kokopelli not only looks after my beloved pets but also contributes to the well-being of all the dogs and cats in Mesa County. I could not be happier, thank them for their continued support of our community.

I do not know where to start. Two words come to my mind: unprofessional and discriminatory. This clinic is very unprofessional in the manner in which they handle business interactions. They lie to individuals and also to the state of Colorado. Also, this is a business which has proven that they discriminate against military families and individuals with health concerns. I am a service member and find this absolutely repulsive and shameful. I cannot believe we allow this within our community!

We are new to Fruita, and after researching the best place to establish veterinary care for our dogs, we chose Kokopelli. They had high standards to meet after 25 years at our previous veterinarian, and they not only met them, but exceeded them. The amount of time and personal attention they directed at my senior dog was impressive, and all of the diet and supplement changes they recommended have had an incredibly positive effect on our dog's mobility and overall well being. So happy!

Our sweet cat Mitsy passed away and the staff there was very helpful to get us in quickly for an emergency visit right before she died. Thank you for everything you did to try and save her.
