We had to take my mom's dog (my brother dog) to the ER vet as he had congestive heart failure and took a turn for the worst. So, on Christmas night, after calling numerous ER vets, we chose Sunset. Andrea is the lady I first talked to and was such a sweetheart. We ended up having to put him to sleep. The entire staff was so very sweet, compassionate and accommodating and were very respectful and sympathetic during this extremely difficult time. They took us right in due to our situation and allowed my parents to be with their baby during the visit and of course as they had to let him go. They even allowed me to go in there. The vet was a younger lady (I hate that I can't recall her name) who was an absolute sweetie!! She was very caring and empathetic. The pricing was very reasonable and they even waived the standard fee for evaluation. Thank y'all so very much for everything y'all did during this very difficult time.

You refused to put an animal down that was suffering. You guys took an oath when you became vets and techs to help all animals. How is letting one suffer because you don’t see exotics humane? You don’t have to be an exotic vet to perform euthanasia. I will never recommend you to anyone.

We brought in a tiny male tuxedo kitten on Tuesday around 9pm. We called upon arrival and they checked us in while we waited from our car. We only waited about 20min when the Vet Tech, Erica came to greet us and get a history. She took the poor little baby in and came right back to give us Dr. Pitts recommendation for a plan of care. I know this little kitty is receiving the best care possible and now has the greatest chance for survival. I love this clinic/hospital and will continue to bring our furry babies/rescues to this place.
So much thanks to Erica and Dr. Pitts!! Keep on being the loving and caring healers that you are. 💗

Sunset Animal Hospital is absolutely the right place for your pets!! I went there for an emergency and right away they took care of my furr boy Buddha. they made sure if felt comfortable and that my baby was in good hands. The staff was so amazing s/o to Elma!! She really made me felt like me and furr boy was family when we was there. I thought to myself I'm happy and this is going to be Buddha new home for everything he needs when it comes to his medical attention. The one thing for sure Dr. Lobna Dagher is sharp Vet. she understood, new how to handle the situation and was very on point with her breakdowns. When she broke things down to me about my furr baby Buddha I was full of emotions. I was scared but she made sure she took that feeling from me so I wasn't scared anymore. She made me felt like our time was very valuable when it comes to our furr babies and that there was nothing to worry about because she will find the solution which she did!! I thought I was loosing my boy but she turned it all around and now my boy is able to run around, hope on the bed and lick me. On and all I'm a happy furr mom! so blessed I found Sunset Animal Hospital because they really CARE!! Say for those of you who are looking for the right Vet for you pet I highly recommend SUNSET ANIMAL HOSPITAL. I PROMISE YOU THEY WILL TAKE CARE OF NOT JUST ONLY YOUR PET FAMILY BUT THEY WILL ALSO TAKE CARE OF YOU.

Located in the Rice University/Medical Center area of Houston, Sunset Animal Hospital proudly serves canine and feline companions in and around Houston, TX. We are a full-service veterinary hospital and boarding facility that is conveniently open all day, every day-even on weekends and holidays! Our professional and courteous health care team aspires to excellence in medical quality and client service. We utilize the most cutting-edge knowledge, equipment and techniques available to care for your pets and exceed your expectations.

Dental care is an important and often overlooked factor in keeping your pet healthy and happy. According to the American Veterinary Dental Society, 80% of dogs and 70% of cats show signs of oral disease by three years of age. Consistent home dental care and routine professional examinations can help prevent problems like bad breath or oral infections. There are many different ways to check and see if your pet may be having dental issues, but there are also signs that may not be as visible. This is why veterinarians recommend having your pet's teeth checked annually.

Pet vaccinations are important for all dogs and cats; even the ones that remain indoors most, if not all, of the time because they could still catch an airborne virus from outside at potty time or through an open window or door screen. More often than not, viruses are spread due to contact with other infected animals that are wild or whose owners did not elect to keep their pet vaccinations up to date. Given the violent and progressive nature of small-animal viruses, it is of the utmost importance to immunize your pet and opt to keep your kitty current with the latest cat vaccinations and your pooch up to date with his or her dog vaccinations.

The primary reason you should have your pet spayed or neutered early on is that female dogs and cats can begin their heat cycles as early as seven months and males can develop aggressive behaviors during puppyhood or kittenhood. When a female dog or cat goes into heat, they can become highly uncomfortable, will seek attention and will likely attract attention from male dogs and cats in the area. Spaying eliminates heat cycles, making your pet more comfortable. For many pet owners, a major benefit of neutering their male cat or dog is that it reduces aggressive, destructive and territorial behaviors such as spraying, mounting and roaming.

Our wellness procedures are designed to prevent disease and prolong the lives of your pets. Preventative care should begin the day you welcome a new pet into your home. For puppies and kittens, we recommend beginning a vaccination series between six and eightweeks of age. While receiving appropriatevaccinations is important, the comprehensive physical examinations, intestinal parasite screenings and precautionary dewormings that are also administered during this series will help ensure your new family member is off to a happy, healthy start.

From simple procedures to the most complex, Sunset's veterinary surgical services put pets on the road to recovery. Sunset is proud tooffer the most advanced surgical techniques and technology available in the veterinary medicine industry. Although many technological advancements have made anesthesia and surgery very safe for pets, some risks still exist. To decrease these risks, we require all patients to undergo a physical exam prior to surgery and also conduct a pre-anesthetic blood screening before surgery day.

We know that your pets are members of your family and that it is difficult to leave them behind when you travel.
