I just moved to the area and i was exceptionally happy with the care here. From the moment i walked in the front desk greeted me and I didn't have to wait. Dr. Littel saw my dog for a problem and was very loving and gentle while seeing her and treating her. I felt my dog got the best care there and will be returning for check ups.

My canine and felines received outstanding care from the doctors and other staff at the Animal & Bird Hospital of Del Mar. Dr. Sheila Ditsche is excellent at diagnosing and treating both dogs and cats. She is a compassionate veterinarian. Dr. Havens and Dr. Mira are outstanding too. If Dr. Ditsche isn't available, there are other doctors on staff that have a lot of experience. It's so important to have an entire staff that loves your non-human family members.

Animal & Bird Hospital Del Mar is THE very best vet care. I knew this place was special but still I'm so thrilled to finally find the right Vet Practice. Dr. Greenfield took the time to ask the right questions and provide smart thoughtful information to help me understand how to care for my aging babies. Brianna and Dr. Greenfield both charmed my dogs and the appointment was easy and affordable. I love this place! Watching the birds start their day @ Free Flight is another reason to come here!

My new puppy and I LOVE the staff and doctors at Animal & Bird! All of my concerns are promptly addressed, and Zoe can't wait to see her friends there.

They are the best! Always so nice and accommodating! I can usually get a same day appointment which is rare these days. Cool bird sanctuary right next door which is a nice place to go check out while waiting. And my dog always gets so excited when we pull up in the driveway!

Horrible practice- bad communication- no accountability. I dealt with them twice on behalf of my dads pets 1) They never sent home statements of care or billing- just called after for his credit card payment. 2) His rescue dog WALKED into their practice but was carried out in a comatose state and dumped into dads caretakers car. then they DENIED that she didn't arrive in better shape and that something had happened while in their care.

I called and got Dr Fournier to look at security videos and she later called me back to apologize and swear they would change their practices so no animal would EVER be sent home to an owner again in that shape without communication. 3) Fast forward a couple months and dads cat had a lump on her leg and wasn't walking. Caretaker took her in and they said it was just a fatty mass' and gave him pain meds for her- saying she'd be fine soon.

As my father was terminally ill, we took over care of the cat and brought her to our own vet. I called this hospital to confirm what they had diagnosed after taking her to the clinic here. because they were wrong and their mis-diagnosis resulted in the cat suffering for several weeks with ADVANCED CANCER. My dad trusted these people, they betrayed him and his 2 pets. I have filed a report with the Veterinary Licensing Board of California. If you love your animal- find another practice to take them to- this place is not trustworthy

Dr. Greenfield is an awesome Doctor! He has been taking care of my dogs since they were 8 weeks old! When he left his previous vet hospital, we followed him! He actually saved my little pug's life when she got pneumonia and contracted Bordetella. She's now 10 years old and super healthy! We're forever grateful to Dr. Greenfield!

Always really kind and genuine to my pug. Questions are always answered and you aren't left wondering why i was charged for something. Dr. Littel has looked out for my girl for awhile and really cares about her. 5 stars!

Seriously one the most responsive and caring staff I've ever taken my pet to! They take the time and care to help and assess my dog and they are so responsive and flexible with scheduling. Would recommend to anyone in the SD area

The communication of the front desk staff and manager is atrocious. This is only our second visit to this office. Brought my dog in Saturday and vet said they would call with test results within 24 hours. Called the next day, day after, no results. 4 days later, the manager was supposed to call (never did). 5th day find out the sample was lost. and never made it to the lab.

Front desk said they would refund the amount for the test that wasn't successfully performed. Waited another 4 days, only to find out the refund was never issued because the manager has to do it and was allegedly never in the office that week. I have expressed my concern about the lack of communication between this office and pet owner and it's still "sorry you feel that way".

I would avoid this office at all costs, especially if it's for an emergency visit/ your pet isn't acting normal. This is now the 9th day and the manager still has yet to call me back to resolve this issue. We have gone elsewhere to resolve our dog's problem.

I've had a pleasure of having Dr. Mira as my birds' doc for a few years while living in SD and he helped them when they were in near death conditions. (They are still going strong and healthy in their elderly years.) When I was told by another local avian vet, "the outcome will be the same (they were presuming death), don't waste your money on them, " Dr. Mira was there still informing me of all the practical consequences/possibilities, but he was compassionate and open to trying methods I suggested based on peer reviewed scholarly articles.

He understood that my birds were my family (and everything) and the decisions should be made based on all factors. I can't thank Dr. Mira and his staff enough for all they have done for my birds during my time in SD. They are the light of SD if not of this world and I will be sure to return when/if I am back in the area. Thank you so much again!

Very quick and helpful with an emergency with my dog. They took him immediately and was able to effectively remedy the issue. They are kind and communicate well. Highly recommend.

Critical: Quality, Reliability I've taken my dogs here multiple times now and it's always a 20+ minute wait. Having dogs that not only don't like the vet, but car rides as well, is not a fun mix

I have been getting my cockatiels wings and nails clipped here since April and I love it! Very responsive and he's not freaked out when I bring him home. Plus he gets a chance to enjoy the bird sanctuary next door.

I am so pleased with the service. I didn't have appointment and my bird was so sick. They let us in and helped my bird get stable. The dr. is so nice and answered all our questions. All the staff were very kind and helpful.

This location created a very kind atmosphere that was quite comfortable. While registration of our appointment was a bit confusing, it ended up to be quick and mostly hassle-free- we got an appointment the same day, within an hour of calling (perhaps just lucky). At the office, we waited only a minimal amount before seeing a quite friendly assistant. Later, our doctor diagnosed our conure in an efficient and honest manner, without harming the bird, keeping us cheery the entire time.

He saw our problem as it was, rather than jumping straight to a prescription to fix it, and led us through his thought process in a very clear manner. We will certainly come back here if we require more aid; the entire experience was pleasant.

I can't sing the praises of this place enough! They definitely earned their 5 star rating in every category, every time. I've owned birds for more than two decades. Keep in mind it is VERY difficult to find an avian specialist and someone who is willing to treat small birds. Dr Mira, and the staff at Animal & Bird Hospital, however deserve 10 stars for his (and their) genuine compassion on birds and all of our animal family members who come through their door.

I haven't yet found a veterinarian who is more kind, gentle, understanding (to both the animal and the owner) and affordable than him. The staff are always willing to help out anyway they can, especially in emergency situations, and are genuinely concerned to get everything done right. There is also a large bird sanctuary on the premises which you can tour. If you're a bird owner, and any owner who wants to give your family member/friend the very best care around, look no further, and come here!

Met Dr Mira last week with one of my big parrots. Super comfortable with the way he and his staff handled my bird. Great care and will be taking my other two in for well bird checks soon. Would highly recommend this facility

Dr Greenfield was very patient, kind, knowledgeable, and straightforward in the diagnosis and care of our Conure. I will unreservedly trust him with my pets' well-being. We also had a beak trim and the veterinary assistants were absolutely wonderful; gentile, professional, and effective. They did a fabulous job of ensuring our parrot was relaxed and comfortable during the trim. I'm sorry that @Jana Andreas had a bad experience but I don't think that it's necessarily indicative of their current staff. I will for sure go back.

We now have 4 furbabies who own us and I can't think of better place to take them for all their needs. Caring, friendly, and knowledgeable. Special thanks to an incredibly compassionate Cory Greenfield DVM for easing our little old man Chester to that big spaghetti heaven in the sky.

Everyone takes such great care of my four legged fur babies. I won't take them anywhere else.

Dr. Mira is an amazing vet! He genuinely cares about his patients, both animal and human! Dr. Mira provided an excellent standard of care for my 15 yr old lab and followed a practical protocol to give her the best life in her senior years. The staff was attentive and very thoughtful. Thank you!

Dr. Ditsche opened our eyes to a higher level of health and comfort we could easily provide our older English Bulldog. Wow, didn't know what we were missing. Thank you. We are glad we made the switch to the Animal and Bird Hospital!

The best there is! I have been seeing three of their vets and referring them for years. They have a wonderful staff and the best technology available. My dogs feel right at home!:

The vets and staff are animal lovers first, as well as being tops in their areas of specialty.

We have met two of the Doctors here, Layne and Sheila. Both are the warmest, most approachable veterinarians we have ever met. They really care about our pup Jack, and give us great post visit care instructions. The staff up front is really nice too - it's not like a clinic, it's like a friendly place you take your pet, to make them feel better. Jack seems to like it too - he's not as nervous going here as he was at our previous pet hospital. There IS a better atmosphere here!
