My 12-year-old cat who has been healthy her whole life inherited bad teeth. 5 years ago they removed two teeth and a Fang for $500. Her gums are bright red and she's favoring one side of her mouth so I know she's uncomfortable. They gave me a quote of over $1,500. I told them that this was a big expense and they said well we have financing or Care Credit. My credit score took a hit due to covid. Somebody told me that they have a sliding scale so I called them and they said they were going to send some paperwork requesting a copy of a bank statement and proof of monthly income. Well I spoke to someone today and I told them how much I made a month and they said oh no you won't qualify with that. Apparently $16,800 a year isn't considered low income. My rent is $900 a month. This was just outrageous so I canceled her dental appointment and rescheduled with Community Animal Hospitals in Kenneth City. Highway robbery shame on them

I have adopted 4 pets from the SPCA TB. I am so impressed how well they take care of the animals. I recommend anyone looking for a furbabie check them out! P.S. while you are there pick up a wish list and see what you have around the house that you can donate!

Thank you so much SPCA. I Adopted Quest (formally known as Choochi) a week ago and he has been such a joy. This place does such a good job placing animals in permanent homes. They do a comprehensive wellness check and identify any issues to prospective owners. Quest was everything I had hoped for in a new pup. Highly recommended.

We love the SPCA because they have such a variety of all types of animals. Unlike pet stores you are allowed to play with them and can take the dogs outside to a fenced area to see if they are a good fit for your family. We were just there over the weekend and they had 3 black labs, a German shepherd and even a great dane/husky mix with one blue and one brown eye. They are sure to have a dog that you will fall in love with. Problem is choosing only one

So thankful for this place! Went 3 times within a week to look at cats and finally left with one who had been there all 3 times. The volunteers are really helpful and surprisingly knowledgeable about the individual cats even though the turnover rate is really high for some. They offer a free first vet visit to two partner vets after adoption.

My dog had to be put down in February from cancer, called 3 shelters to donate treats, toys and food! Finally found SPCA and it was so easy to drop items off and the animal wish list needs so much will start saving items to donate to this fantastic place again!

Got my new best friend. They were so helpful. Gave me info over the phone and let me bring my old best friend to meet the new one before we decided. Where else can you get a happy healthy puppy that has all its shots and is fixed for only a hundred dollars. Plus I got a bag of food too! Leia loves her new friend!

The ladies there were extremely nice! We found a baby opossum and took it to them. They took the time to share info about this program. I highly recommend taking your wildlife to them. We are from out of state and didn't know much about the facility. Thank you so much

We adopted our Pearlie girl and she is a God given miracle. Whoever owned her before loved her immensely. We were lucky to adopt this sweet girl. She is our angel. She loves my grandson so much and I wouldn't trade her for the world. Love you Pearlie. Thank you ASPCA.

I adopted "simon" he was discarded because he was hard to handle. I have had him over 15 years. My success story of a life long companion started here. His name has changed. Please don't be lonely. You deserve this. Blessings

I went to just "look" at dogs and saw one that I loved. I was thinking about coming back and they threw all the reasons why I should get this dog and not wait. I'm not even mad cause I'm in love with my dog. She's the best. She's happy and we are happy to have her.

$1,000 to adopt a dog? People are looking to rescue pups, not buy a designer dog here. I asked if the adoption fee would be lowered after he's inevitably there for longer than others, they said no. What a way to make sure a sweet dog doesn't get adopted.

This organization is awesome and does a great job caring for their animals. The staff was helpful and friendly. Lots of commotion going on but they handled it well! The best way to do it is make and appointment, go in, and ask all your questions there. The girl and women that helped me pick out a rabbit were awesome and they let me hold whatever one I caught my interest and I couldn't thank her enough for that because I got to bring home cookie!

He is so sweet. At first he hid under my bed and was thumping his feet but by the night he was out playing and doing binkies! Not only that but the dogs they have here are so awesome! I got to meet prince at the front desk and he even shook my hand. I had a great experience here and am so happy with cookie. Thank you all for making this happen!

I went to one of the animal shelters to donate things and play with the pups. It took so much resistance to not adopt 4 of them! The staff in the kennels are mostly young kids, but they were helpful enough. The girl at the front desk was knowledgeable and very friendly. They only had a handful of dogs on the site so I was surprised to see more of a selection when I walked through. It's the quietest shelter I've ever been to, not a single dog was barking for the first 20 minutes. (this was typed few months ago and somehow not shared so I apologize if information is no longer relevant or accurate).

I can say from the moment we walked into the building the staff was friendly and took us immediately into the exam room. The atmosphere with the lights dimmed was comforting. The staff was very compassionate with allowing us as much time ad we wanted and needed to say our goddbyes to our Kiki. Thank you to the staff that day for making a most diffucult day seem somewhat bearable to get through.

I can't say enough about SPCA Tampa Bay! We have adopted 3 cats from them and they helped us re home a bunny we "inherited" after a family member passed. The facility is clean and the volunteers are very pleasant and helpful. Additionally, on 3 separate occasions I have enlisted their help with wildlife rescue. They literally do it all! Thank you SPCA Tampa Bay for the great work you do.

I took our puppy Jezebel in for her Spay- all the girls were amazing and sweet with her. Vivian was awesome. Jezebel cam home and is already practically herself, so thank you for professional, reasonably price pet care. i will be switching to you for both our dogs' ongoing Vet care.

Do NOT trust what they say about the animals you adopt. I'm completely pro-rescuing but we adopted a cat and 12 hours later had to take her to an emergency vet where we found out that she was dehydrated and on deaths door. We have already paid almost $2,000 to keep her alive and we have no idea how much more we'll have to pay if we want to keep her alive.

We were told she was 1 and had a clean bill of health. None of that was true and now I have no savings left and the cat still might die. Our hearts are broken. We waited 2 years after our cat passed to adopt and now we've been emotionally and financially broken. I can't stop crying. Fuck these assholes!

If I could honestly give zero stars I would but apparently that must be too harsh? We recently adopted an adorable, twenty three pound cat at Petsmart from the SPCA. They informed us he would have been put down on that following Monday due to his age, he was only eight years old. We gladly gave some money to adopt him and took him home. He was doing wonderfully the first week we received him, he wasn't too sure of us but he began warming up.

We fed him bits of chicken because that seemed to be the only thing he would touch and some milk. However this week he began to exhibit odd behavior. He stopped eating completely, drinking nothing, laying around in one spot and barely using the restroom. Then that's when he started vomiting. This morning, I woke up to my terrified mother who had been up all night with Little Suga who was barely breathing and laying in the hallway.

We decided to contact the women who sold us the cat whose name is Phyllis who works for Cat Kids Rescue through the SPCA. We had documents from this company for his shots that said he was on Mirtazapine. We had never been told this and didn't have any clue what it was. I looked into it to find out that it was an appetite stimulate and it could've been used for cats with "renal failure and stomach disease" or "used as an anti-nausea for pets undergoing cancer treatments".

I found this information via 1800petmeds considering he seemed to be taking this frequently. When Phyllis came to pick him up for the vet this morning, she grabbed him roughly off my lap and basically threw him into the pet carrier. She told us she'd be taking him to the vet and quickly grabbed his medical reports while storming out. Not to mention, we were blamed for this when we had no clue of what he was taking and the condition he was in.

We just received a call stating Little Suga took his last breath in the car on the way to the vet. I've never been more furious and I will be furthering this case because NOBODY should have to go through this especially children. I'm extremely disappointed in lack of communication about his condition and I won't stop until something is done.

We took one of our cats there in November for a teeth cleaning since it was much more affordable than quotes I’d gotten from other vets. We were happy with the work performed and liked the staff so much that we switched to this veterinary center for all of our cats needs. Last week, one of our other cats had a terrible hotspot that needed vet assistance.

The friendly staff got us in quickly and even contacted us when another appointment was cancelled so that we could come in a day early. We’d told them that our cat was abused before we got him and is consequently quite skiddish. The staff took care in making sure that the visit went smoothly. Dr. Gisel and her assistant (Dylan) were wonderful with our nervous cat.

They kept him as comfortable as possible and made what we thought would be a difficult visit into an easy one. I’m so happy that they have the Paw It Forward program. The money I spend on my pets is used to help other pets in need. All in all, SPCA Vet Center has a clean new facility with a fabulous staff and great rates. Visit them and you will be pleased!

Worst experience. Was there when they opened and they told us to go look at dogs. No one told me the procedure and no one was anywhere to be seen. I found three dogs I wanted to ask about and found a person. She said to take the information off the cage. By then, two of the dogs were taken. I returned with the paperwork on the third dog. A man then arrived with a document to 'finalize the paperwork' on the dog he and his family had decided to adopt the previous day.

Yes the same dog. The young woman said very harshly "sorry but she may adopt that dog" to the man. His face fell. I said I have no intention of taking the dog promised to that family and handed him the paperwork. I asked the woman which dog she would recommend. She knew NOTHING about the dogs but said people there liked a specific dog. I went looking for that one and it was not there.

I went back and she then said it was in the puppy room. I did not want a puppy so did not look there. By the time I got there, her paperwork was gone. They REALLY need a better system. I went to another shelter that was not even open that day and they let me in and talked to me at length about the various animals and asked me a lot of questions. I came home with the perfect dog.

No question it's karma that the SPCA experience was such a fiasco. But when I looked online two days later only two of the dogs had been adopted so they are not doing something right.

This SPCA in Largo is a disgrace. I have left over SIX messages in the last month regarding surrendering a pet but not ONE call back. What kind of business does not return calls requesting a service they are there to provide, especially as they function solely on grants and donations? I have been a life-long donator to SPCA and carry their member card.

They had better believe they will never receive ONE more red cent from me if this is the kind of "service" they provide to pet lovers. I am so disgusted by what I've experienced with this SPCA, I fully intend to make my views known publicly. They need to be investigated.

We had visited this SPCA over 5 times. In 2 weeks. We could not decide, did we want a kitten or an older cat. There were so many cats that we just could not decide, we wanted them All! (I did at least maybe not my boyfriend) lol During Some visits, certain volenteers would "push" us to "take a cat home today" that sort of made me uncomfortable and they would follow us around the cat rooms.

Other then that, I felt the facilities were clean and the volunteers truly cared for the animals. The animals looked to be token care of. We finally decided on a 1 year old cat, that stole our hearts. She has brought so much joy to our home! The paper work/adoption was a great and a painless process. They had a special that month. Any cat over a year old. Was free.

So I donated 20 dollars. She was fixed, micro chipped and her shots were up to date. The day we adopted her we saw over 5 cats leaving. So happy that these animals are getting new homes! Our cat, who we named Milla, had had a surgery while at this SPCA, When we took her to our vet a week later, the vet said he was very impressed by the scar and records from the SPCA OF Tampa. So it made me respect them even more. I suggest if you want a pet to check this place out! You get a fair price and they truly love the animals!

We just went and adopted a wonderful little guy here. The staff was friendly, courteous, and most importantly very devoted to the animals in their care. The little guy tight was very well taken care of and you can tell the animals are well cared for. A great way to find that perfect pet and addition to anyone's life

This place really cares about the animals! The SPCA Tampa Bay has large rooms to play with cats, an outside play area for their dogs, and sometimes they make a large area for the rabbits to hop around in! I did take off one star, because now, to play with the dogs (even if you're not interested), they want a lot of personal information. However, for any other animal, you don't have to give them information. All in all, they are a great, no kill, caring shelter who provides the best for their animals!

SPCA is a great way to adopt a pet while saving a pet's life as well as money! I got my basenji mix Tyson here when he was 10 weeks old and he has been a blessing. While I grew up with many types of animals over the years, this was my first dog. The staff was very helpful, and shared tips on how to train and care for Tyson. They also provided free weekend obedience training seminars that were very helpful.

This review is just for the indoor dog park available on Sundays. $5 from 11:30-1:30. Nice idea for pets to play, socialize and run around- especially in the summer when it's too hot outside! Awesome employees to keep all the dogs in check. They made sure everyone played nice. I guess I misread the info though online and thought the park would be over 2000 square feet.

I had high expectations lol. Instead it was just in one room of the facility. Not a lot of room for the dogs, so they limit how many can come inside at any given time. My poor dog felt trapped though and didn't have fun lol. And she wouldn't pee or poop since there was no grass. So not for my pup but maybe yours would enjoy! She likes to run around and there was just not enough room there. I kept cringing and waiting for a dog to run into the wall or each other.

This SPCA has a wonderful system for viewing and introductions. They are well-staffed and have great facilities with a number of introduction rooms. The metal cages are open for viewing, so you can hear the kitties meow (which makes you want to take all of them home). We could tell that the animals are treated humanely and are well taken care of. We were looking for a cat and went back several times.

Most of the cats we looked at were adopted by the time we went back to visit them again. Finally, we met Binks, who has (three years later) become a true member of our family. We can't imagine life without him! This shelter has a wide variety of animal species, including farm animals. They have a beautiful new adoption center/store where we purchased several items.

Please be advised that if you live in a rental, you must bring your landlord's phone number for approval. Binks' adoption was a few years ago, but we were able to get a cardboard carrier from them when bringing him home. We brought an old, comfy towel to put on the bottom of the carrier for his car ride. Before we were able to take him home, they neutered him, gave him an exam, placed a microchip in him, and offered to clean his teeth.all as part of our small adoption fee ($25).

He had a horrible URI when we brought him home, but we were able to bring him in for an exam and medication (free of charge) since it was within a week of the adoption. We have since moved to Arizona and adopted a second cat from the local Humane Society. We were not nearly as impressed with how HS functioned and truly missed our SPCA Tampa Bay experience. I highly recommend paying them a visit to find your forever friend.

Above and beyond excellent, attentive, loving care for our 10 year old Pug Ziggy. We love our local Vet, but tried SPCA so that we could do more for him within our budget. Yet, we still wanted the best, professional care we could get. Everything worked out perfect, and we could not thank Dr. Conway and her friendly Team enough! Would recommend them to all my friends, family and neighbors in the Bay area. Thank you SPCA of Tampa Bay! ~Clarissa, Mitch and Ziggy of South Tampa :)

I moved to St. Pete from Tampa a year ago, and it was no longer convenient to keep my Tampa vet, so I made an appointment at the Vet Center for my two dogs - one is relatively young and still healthy, and the other is a senior with several health conditions. Dr. Gisel and the entire team were very thorough in their exam of my old lady and very patient as I went through her history. So relieved to have found a good vet in St. Pete that I really like and trust.
Alana Walker
I absolutely love them! They made me and my dog feel very comfortable. Very reasonable price! I wouldn't want to take my dogs anywhere else but SPCA!

Sadly I had to euthanize my dog today and the only thing that made it a little easier was the staff here. They were so kind and compassionate...more than I could've ever asked for. I was so lucky for the care from Dr.Mayne and the nurses. Dr.Mayne even hugged me and assured me what I was doing was the best choice for my baby I don't think she or the staff know how much I really NEEDED that support. I can't say thank you enough to this SPCA for everything. Overall the helped make the best out of a tramatic experience.

I took my dog Bruno to be put to sleep. I never done this before, as all my dogs have passed on their own. They came outside helped me bring him in for he was 150lbs. He layed on the floor eating treats until he fell asleep. They hugged me and consoled after he left me. They even sent me a card. I have 4 other dogs, I will bringing them here for now on. They are absolutely the most compassionate, kind and caring people.
Chuck Homsy
The staff here are amazing. They actually care about you and your pet family. They don't try to kill your pets with unnecessary procedures and medications. They don't try to brow beat you into padding the bill, with over expensive flea products that don't work.
Carolyn Wisniewski
Awesome! My partner and I adopted our pet from SPCA Tampa Bay and brought her to their Veterinary Center for her first visit. This is my first dog as an adult so I had a LOT of questions. The entire staff was fantastic! They patiently answered all my questions and took great care of Bailey!

Excellent staff, gorgeous facility, and low prices. Had my Frenchy neutered there and would highly recommend them. We will be back!

Excellent nurses and doctors. Professional and helpful. The facility is clean and inviting and they took great care of my cat when I had to bring her in for an emergency check up. I recommend them highly. It's a stressful job to have, and they showed both my and my kitty compassionate care. A+++
