Spartanburg Humane Society We offer a variety of programs and services for both pets and pet owners. Our mission remains focused on providing excellent shelter and care to homeless animals in need, the Spartanburg Humane Society has evolved to develop proactive strategies aimed at combating the root causes of substandard animal care and thousands of unwanted animals. The Spartanburg Humane Society is located at 150 Dexter Road in Spartanburg, SC.

In 1964, a group of concerned citizens led by Mary Frances Grimes incorporated the Spartanburg Animal Welfare League (SAWL) to provide a humane method for managing the homeless animal population.
Services
The Spartanburg Humane Society offers a second chance for pets who can no longer stay in their homes. Whether an animal comes to us from the City of Spartanburg Animal Control or from a former family, it is treated with love and respect here with us. If you are considering surrendering your pet because of a medical condition and would like help, please contact the Spartanburg Humane Society Veterinary Clinic. We understand that some circumstances cannot be overcome and we offer shelter and care for these pets.
Come in to our adoption lobby with a list of animals from our website you think might be a good fit for your family. Our adoption counselors will ask you a couple of questions about your lifestyle and day to day life and make some additional recommendations that they think would be a good match for you to meet with.
Thank you for choosing to donate to the Spartanburg Humane Society. If you have any questions please call us at 864-583-4805 or email us at development@spartanburghumane.org. We thank you again for all your generous contributions. This section is not required if it is a general donation. If you are purchasing a brick for our memorial garden please scroll the Memorial Brick Section below. Please note we never list the amount of your gift on the acknowledgement card.
Educating our community about homeless animals, solutions to pet overpopulation, compassionate and responsible pet care is an important part of our core mission at the Spartanburg Humane Society. We know that no one is ever too young or too old to learn or to explore their love for animals. Our Humane Education Department offers opportunities for all ages.

I adopted a pet there almost a year ago. The process was easy and I liked that they gave me some doses of heartworm medicine to last a few months. I could tell that the workers cared about each animal there. I'm enjoying my Chihuahua puppy. She's now a year old and so precious! I would definitely recommend the Spartanburg Humane society for pet adoptions.

The 2 ladies who helped me and gave my dog a microchip shot are super friendly. HOWEVER. I AM NOT OKAY WITH THEM OR ANYONE ELSE WORKING IN THAT BUILDING WITH NO AIR-CONDITIONING. **THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED**

I adopted Toby. a 10 year old cockapoo. He is the best additional to my life! Toby is constantly wagging his tale, going on hiking adventures and wanting pets from every we walk past. He is fully house trained, does not bark and is the easiest dog in the world. A lot of people don't give senior dogs a thought when adopting but he is such an angel and full of life. I'm happy he's my best friend. Thank you Spartanburg Humane Society.

Absolutely loved the adoption process! We adopted Dusty! The friendly staff was very helpful when it came to choosing the best puppers for us. They let us bring our daughter and dog to meet dusty before adopting him, while we was waiting on the paperwork the staff brought our current doggo a treat and some water. Hands down the best experience! Would recommend to anyone!

I gotta talk about this because every time I remember this situation it makes me so upset and sad. I found a kitten, he was injured but not that much, but I realized that he needed help, the worst part is that I didn't have any money to take care of him so I thought going to this place because he could find a home and be treated well. We went with my sister, I even hold this poor kitten on my arms.

We waited and when it was our turn, I went to talk about the situation, but that stupid lady didn't even care, she just asked me what school did I attend. I told her and that b1tch told me she couldn't take the kitten because we had to call so they could come to my house to pick him up. It made me so upset because he really needed help IMMEDIATELY.

I just wanted to cry and we went back home. Everytime I looked the kitten made me wanna cry because he even was crying so I went quick to call them. Guess what? THEY NEVER ANSWERED. I just didn't know what to do, I can't drive and my family wasn't at home. I was desperate but then the kitten stoped crying, looked at me and died. Every time I remember him it makes me cry so bad, we went to bury him and while my sister was doing it, in my head I was just insulting that stupid woman, I hate her so much and that stupid shelter. Poor dogs and kittens, they don't deserve a place like this. It would make me feel better if they closed that place, they don't need to be there, they need a BETTER place.

Wonderful place. Always professional. I owe my dog's life to Kelly. I was about to put my baby down as I had no options in order to afford a life saving surgery. Kelly alerted me that all I had to do was get my dog spayed and she even went above and beyond to point me to animal allies to help save my fur baby. Thank you Kelly you are truly a life saver and I am truly grateful for the acts of kindness you have shown to me and my baby! I wish you many blessings!
