Dr. Schwartz grew up on a farm in Idaho. He graduated from Washington State University in 1981, and started his career in Veterinary Medicine in Woodburn, Oregon. In 1995, Dr. Schwartz opened Animal Care Center Veterinary Clinic. In his spare time, Dr. Schwartz enjoys hiking, fishing and spending time with his grandson Quentin and granddaughter Opal.

All of my cats (2) and dogs (2) have been going here for years. Doctors Slama and Schwartz are amazing. Honest, clear, with obvious care for the best interests of my pets and also reasonable understanding of costs and recommendations for pet ownership. Honestly, if I moved, I would make an effort to travel just to keep this vet clinic. And the techs - they care so much. It's obviously they love what they do.

Spooky was due for some shots. I wasn't able to go inside the building with Spooky because I had both my little children and did not want them to get upset and through a tantrum. The nurse was kind enough to understand and took Spooky in. Then when his appointment was done the veterinarian came outside and talked to me. I really appreciate them working with me and for taking good care of my kitty

A very kind and caring staff. All the veterinarians are wonderful to work with but Dr. Alexander is my favorite. Always amazed how much time she will spend with me answering all my questions and concerns even when she is standing outside of my car on a cold day. Plus she is very easy to talk to. If I decline some of the services recommended for my senior dog then the entire group of vets do not make me feel bad about my decisions. Overall I highly recommend all of the veterinarians!

We recently moved to the Salem area. We have two shiba inu's and needed to find a new vet after having only one veterinarian for their whole life. So far we have been really impressed with the whole team. They are compassionate, patient, and made sure to answer all of our questions. We had to have our younger dog have a tooth extraction and the staff did an amazing job at an extremely reasonable price.
I hope this will be a long term relationship and feel really positive about it at this point. My wife and I feel really fortunate to have been introduced to this team of pet lovers.

Dr Slama came out to my car to personally explain what he was going to do and what he had done. The assistants clearly stated what procedures were needed and the costs. I was never put in long holds and they were very prompt. Very satisfied with our experience. My dog whimpers excitedly when we pull up and then runs inside happily with them.

We love everything about them. We have had many animals we have brought to them over the years (cats and dogs) and they are so caring towards our fur babies. The medical staff, including assistants are so gentle and kind to our animals. The front office staff are equally kind, caring and professional. The vets always have the right diagnosis and/or administer the proper care our animals need.
The fact that they are so friendly, caring and compassionate with our animals will always keep us coming back with each new generation of pets. Their prices are very reasonable too.

As I walked back to my car to call in to pick up a prescription for my cats- Sofia was so kind as to ask what I needed help with before heading back inside after helping another customer. It was fast, and she made an account for me so that I dont have to keep bringing my prescription back each time. Sofia was awesome and had such an infectious, joyful energy, on top of the courtesy shown with the willingness to help, she made my experience memorable.

First time visit and it was great. Social distancing meant i stayed in the car. I was not kept waiting and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Doctor came out to discuss the visit, did not try to push things on me like so many do. Left with a detailed report card. I also found this place to be very affordable in comparison. Would recommend.

I love the communication I have recieved with the animal care center. I have been with them for 15months. they have promptly answered my questions in a timely manor, called me to after my pups surgery to let me know how he is doing. I feel they genuinely care for all of their patients and families. and in the past have allowed me to make payments on an emergency procedure. and have done all they can do in their power good quality care is consistent, I'm grateful for their knowledge and skills. and their professionalism.
