I can't say enough about the fantastic care and advice I have received from Dr Benyei and all the vets at Schulhof over the past 9 years. They always check-in and follow-up, and have often advised the non-invasive or drug store solution when possible over expensive vet bills. My lab runs in the door for his cookies, and clearly has had nothing but positive experiences in their offices.

I board my dog, use their veterinary services as well as grooming. They are top notch. They treat my dog like gold, the vets are AMAZING, caring, empathetic, bright and on the forefront of pet care. The staff is always friendly, courteous and love my dog and he adores going there. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Dr. Westerfield just operated on my dog and was truly astounding. Aside from her great skills as a vet, she shows a true understanding of how deeply one can love their pet.

My office is directly across the street from Schulhof. The other day my cousin found a cat he believed to have been hit by car, so he calls me. I head to the office with a towel and blanket with the plan of getting the cat. Thought I would stop in Schulhof first, because I didn't know what I would do with the cat once caught. Christian Benyai couldn't have been more helpful. Grabbed his gloves and cat carrier and a fabulous co worker and headed accross the street to the rescue. Unfortunately cat disappeared. Christian gave good warning about rabies and the hazard of just going and trying to save it. They are vaccinated for rabies. my point is, they were and are happy to help with any animal in distres, even if not your pet. They will go and get the animal in distress or you are welcome to drop off. Not to many places do this. A truly wonderful animal hospital. Thank you Christian and the staff at Schulhof!!! I will be recommending you whenever I can.

Schulhof Animal Hospital is a family owned full-service, holistically oriented, teaching animal hospital that has been operating at its current location in lovely downtown Westport, Connecticut, since 1946. Over the years, we have made a number of important changes to our facility, both structurally and technologically. Our radiology and dental suites are equipped with the latest in digital x-ray equipment. We have created separated waiting, exam, and boarding facilities for cats and dogs in order to provide a more welcoming and less stressful environment for our furry friends.

Radiographs (X-rays) are extremely helpful for diagnosing and monitoring many medical and surgical conditions. X-rays are useful in examining your pet's bones, lungs, heart, abdomen, oral cavity and other areas of the body. An X-ray can spot a fractured bone, detect tumors, help with the diagnosis of heartworm disease or locate an obstruction or foreign body in your pet's intestine or stomach. When used in conjunction with other diagnostic procedures like ultrasound, X-rays can accurately diagnose problems, making treatment faster and easier for your pet and your veterinarian.

Advancements in veterinary care mean that surgical procedures are far safer than ever before and, in most cases, recovery times are significantly reduced. Schulhof Animal Hospital has a complete surgery suite and is dedicated to providing your pet with the highest quality of care with the most compassionate approach. This includes the most up-to-date pain management protocols, advanced monitoring equipment and the safest anesthesia available, all under the supervision of our highly trained technical staff.

In an emergency, seconds count. Our experienced staff is equipped to administer the ABC's of basic life support-Airway, Breathing, Circulation/Cardiac compressions, as well as emergency surgery when necessary. When possible, we ask that you call ahead before bringing your pet in for emergency treatment. This allows us to better prepare for your pet's care. If we feel the case is complex, we may refer your pet to a critical care facility after we have stabilized him or her. Schulhof Animal Hospital offers emergency care during regular business hours.

The foundation of your pet's health is the thorough practice of preventative care, which includes a complete physical examination at least once each year. Listen to your pet's heart - Early signs of cardiac disease such as heart murmurs and abnormal heart beat patterns known as arrhythmias can be heard through a stethoscope. Discovering these initial indicators of trouble ahead can lead to identifying and treating the underlying condition before it becomes a more serious health threat. If serious arrhythmias are detected, we can do an electrocardiogram to determine the extent of the problem.

Schulhof Animal Hospital is a member of the AKC Veterinary Network. As such we honor Certificates presented by recent AKC - registrants. Each certificate is redeemable for a first office visit only and excludes any vaccines, x-rays, medications, and/or procedures. Recent registrants may only redeem their certificate for the AKC-registered dog indicated on the certificate and may only redeem one certificate per practice. Schulhof Animal Hospital honors Humane Society Certificates for an initial free office visit.

Schulhof Animal Hospital has two USDA Federally licensed Veterinarians. We can provide inter-state health certificates and also assist you in obtaining foreign health certificates for pets that travel with you. Please be aware that many countries have lengthy procedures for the admission of pets from outside their borders. Foreign health certificates must also be signed by the Connecticut State Veterinarian, so let us know of your travel plans well in advance so we can help make this process as painless as possible.
