Carson Valley Veterinary Hospital was founded in 1955 by Dr. Keith Cornforth. Dr. Cornforth was soon joined by Dr. Stephen Talbot, as well as Dr. Bob Gorrindo. Having a passion for animals and a vision of a veterinary hospital which provided medical care at a level that rivaled those providing human care, Carson Valley Veterinary Hospital was built on a strong foundation which is displayed to this day. Annual dental exams and cleanings are recommended to protect your pet from many health problems and help them maintain a healthy and clean mouth. Proper diet and nutrition can help your pet fight against disease, maintain a proper weight, and promote the overall well-being of your pet.

Recently moved to Carson City to live closer to kids & grands. Today our 2 rescues met their new vet, Dr. Amanda Buffo. We are pleased that impressive Dr. Buffo will be caring for our dogs. She is intelligent, knowledgeable & well-spoken. Her explanations & instructions were clear & concise. And, she helped our dogs feel comfortable & relaxed. I wanted to say thank you to Dr. Sheets and Sarah. My dog has been struggling with a lot of health issues, and they were very helpful during our visit. I was highly impressed by Dr. Sheets and glad he proposed a long term plan to take Chloe off a medication other vets wanted to double the dose on despite the side effects. I truly appreciate it :

The staff is exceptional! I have a deep admiration for the Doctors and technicians who show genuine care for the well-being of the animals. They consistently lend an attentive ear and treat all my concerns with utmost seriousness. Furthermore, they have been incredibly understanding when it comes to pricing and payment arrangements following costly procedures, prioritizing the animals' welfare above all else. Their diligent efforts in providing exemplary care for my beloved pets never go unnoticed, and I am immensely grateful for their dedication.

This is the best vet office I've ever experienced and trust me I've been to several over the years. Brian at the front desk is so sweet and answered all my questions with patience. All of the staff are sooo compassionate even when it comes to needing help with your pet chicken. First if I could give them 10 stars I would. We took our aging dog here 2 weeks ago ( because we could not get an appointment with our regular vet.) This place got us in right away even though we had not taken our dog there in years. Unfortunately our dog had to be put down because he had tumors all over inside him and was suffering. Dr. Mannon and his team were very caring and compassionate.
We want to thank everyone there for being so caring during this very sad time and the front office staff for getting us in last minute. We ordered a paw print and let me tell you it is very beautiful. We will cherish it forever.

Writing this review while sitting in an exam room in the facility where we have been waiting for an HOUR for the vet. And yes we had an appointment. No one has said anything or even stopped in to mention there is going to be a wait. After the assistant took my dogs temperature she left saying "the vet will be in shortly". Again that has been over an HOUR ago. I'm about to just leave this is beyond unprofessional and unexceptable. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Critical: Reliability Good vet care but horrible front office. Called to make an appointment 2 weeks earlier only to arrive on day of appointment and they do not have my dog on the schedule. We have always went here and have never had any problems except for long wait times. Will unfortunately be finding a new vet that is a little more efficient.

After more then a year of going to this place they ultimately stopped sending my dogs prescriptions to CVS. Not only is it an hours plus drive from my home but they up charge the medication by 100%. Absolutely disgusting practice and Absolutely taking advantage of people. They randomly and for no reason stopped sending prescriptions to other places to force people to have to pay the up price from them.
I will be reporting them for malpractice. I will also be speaking with my lawyer on if we can proceed with a lawsuit do to this. Horrible place don't recommend, they obviously only care about taking advantage of people.

We brought our dog in with a broken leg and missing skin over the break. They fixed the break with a plate and ended up having to do a skin graft. It has been a long couple of months but they have been great. Will always use them for all of our dogs. The people are very friendly and we're always great with my pup. Berry thankful we found them.

Just moved to Zephyr Cove and took the advice of many people to give Carson Valley Vet hospital a try. I could not be more happy that I made that decision. From the first scheduling conversations I had with Krista and Haley To the the first appointment encounter with front desk staff Brian, everyone was so nice friendly. The positive experience continued when I met veterinary assistant Stephen and Dr. Mull who were also extremely helpful And took a lot of time to know the history of the Sophie.
What an excellent first experience. Due to Sophie's health condition I will be visiting the vet every 25 days and can only hope that all my future experiences or as good as the initial. Thanks. Jeff

I saw a new vet at Carson Valley Veterinary Hospital and was pleasantly pleased with her friendliness, her knowledge and her thoroughness in treating my miniature schnauzer. What really impressed me was the time and the knowledge that she shared with me concerning the blood test that was taken, nutrition supplements and the treatment options available.
She listened to me, answered my questions and gave web site addresses I could check out for more info and ideas. Her name is Dr Amanda Buffo and I would highly recommend her.
