The brother-sister pair grew their business, and in 2004, expanded Riverlands into the first (and to-date only) twenty-four hour emergency animal hospital in the river parishes. With over ten doctors, including emergency and relief veterinarians, and a staff of over twenty friendly faces, Riverlands Animal Hospital continues to serve the community as one of the largest veterinary hospitals in the area. For the more in depth diagnostics and procedures, we turn to Dr. Catherine Garon, Diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.
Joseph Garon: Alumnus of St. Charles High School in LaPlace. He then attended Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine where he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1994. His work interests include surgery, dermatology and catching up with old and new clients. On his spare time he enjoys fishing, LSU football, coaching baseball and spending time with his wife Darlene and 3 children.
Riverlands Animal Hospital also carries the major brands of heartworm preventatives, flea control, and skincare products for pets. For your convenience and your pets' dietary needs, we carry Hill's Science Diet line of quality pet maintenance diets.
Riverlands Animal Specializes in Internal Veterinary Medicine. This includes but is not limited to the fields of cardiology, neurology, oncology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, hematology, hepatology and immunology.
Riverlands Animal Hospital is pleased to offer your pet in clinic diagnostic blood work capabilities. Our hospital's latest analyzers allow us to determine if your pet has an issue with its organs or blood in less than five minutes! Often your pets come in as you have noticed that they simply aren't feeling their usual playful selves. With a small amount of blood drawn from your pet by a veterinarian or certified veterinary technician, we place the blood in our state-of-the art analyzers and have results while you wait!
Like humans, pets benefit from visiting their doctor regularly. Puppy and kitten wellness exams are routinely performed at 6, 9, 12, and 15 weeks. During these visits they receive vaccinations, parasite checks, and a complete physical examination. Annual wellness examinations are performed on pets between 1 and 6 years of age. Annual wellness exams help to identify and address medical, behavioral, and environmental issues before they present a serious concern. It also provides an opportunity to discuss recent advances in veterinary health care and nutrition that may be of benefit to your pet.
Surgeries performed at Riverlands Animal Hospital include routine spays, neuters, and declaws, as well as tumor removals, wound repairs, and exploratory surgery. We generally use a combination of injectable and gas anesthesia. Pre- and post-operative pain management is closely attended to.
Riverlands Animal Hospital has a complete pharmacy at our hospital. Whether your furry friend needs protection from fleas or is fighting an infection, we have the solution in our clinic. Also, the doctors and staff at Riverlands Animal Hospital are continually updated on the latest veterinary medicine innovations through meetings and continuing education classes to know what best fits your pet.
