Retama Equine Hospital is proud to serve as a referral center for South Central Texas, offering advanced diagnostic and treatment options beyond what may be available from primary caregivers. We offer round-the-clock care by veterinarians and support staff that allows us to handle a broad range of patients, including the most critical or unusual.
Gait Analysis is a novel approach to assessing lameness in horses. It allows your veterinarian to determine the amount of weight your horse is placing on each foot and the force that each limb is landing with and pushing off with. This means that we can localize even the most subtle lameness, which can be very helpful in working horses, as well as horses that are stoic.

I have an old horse, and have had to call Retama out several times on an emergency, this has included weekends and evenings. On those calls I would have given them five stars, and that's why today I'm not giving a one-star but yesterday my old horse was down he had a heat stroke and I called a few minutes after their normal hours, the vet on call, the emergency vet refused to come out.
I was shocked at the very least. Thankfully with the help of a few friends we were able to get the horse up get him in the shaded area and get him soaked down. Since I have always been happyWith the care they provided my old guy in the past I'm hoping this is a one-time isolated incident.

Great team of vets and techs and interns they treat every patient as if they are their very own they truly care and explain everything they make sure you pet is in no pain they take their time to make sure everything is assessed and taken care of the right way they also call to check in how your pet is doing couldn't be happier especially with vet Elizabeth trust them with all my heart

Dr. Grose and the staff at Retama Equine Hospital have consistently provided the absolute best care for the rescue horses that come through our doors. Pricing is always reasonable and fair. Compassion for our horses is remarkable and the compassion passes right on through to me, the founder of Happened by Chance Horses. Dr. Grose cares 100% about our horses.
She is very kind no matter the situation and I will say we throw some tough ones at her. I can't thank her and the team there at Retama Equine Hospital enough. I am glad they are a true partner of the rescue. I never doubt that our horses will receive the best in care. I would and do highly recommend them.

Retama Equine Hospital very attentive to both the equine and the human aspect of there service. They explain what is happening as they go and let you know in advance what their plan if action is as well as keeping you up to date on the estimated cost. Dr. Gross is our got to for anything to do with our horses/mules.

I have an amazing relationship with my Vet Dr. Gross. She is extremely good at listening to the whole picture and not pushing an agenda down my throat. She is very personable and has a wealth of knowledge that I appreciate. I have had experiences with all the Vets at Retama and I have yet to have a complaint. I have had emergency farm calls that were extremely urgent and I had a person asap. The Techs are very nice and work very fast. This is my go to hospital for all equine.

INCREDIBLE OH my gosh Dr. Martin, Dr. Rosenberg and Dr. Holloway Are incredible I have never been to vet clinic where the staff and doctor are so involved every step of the way! I received phone calls morning and night was able to visit my mare and foal whenever I wanted through their stay! I feel that Dr. Martin goes over and beyond for his clients and I am forever grateful for everything that they have done! Reasonably priced for sure I will drive over an hour and pass up many Equine vets just to come see these people they are by far the best!
