Services
Although Pilchuck serves as a leading equine referral center, we also take pride in providing exceptional primary care on a field service basis for the horses of Puget Sound. Our ambulatory practitioners are based on the hospital facility and work closely with our board-certified clinicians to provide patients with exceptional care.
Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital has been serving Snohomish, Everett, Marysville, Lake Stevens, Monroe, Mill Creek, Woodinville and Clearview since 1963, and is now one of the largest multi-species veterinary practices in the United States.
We do our very best to provide quality veterinary care to all of our patients, large or small. When a furry family member becomes sick or injured, veterinary care can quickly become an unexpected financial burden. In order to help ease this stress, we will prepare an itemized estimate or treatment plan, so you know what costs to expect.
Dr Karch and her staff were so compassionate with us when we made the decision to put our dog down today. They let us take all the time we needed before and after. We didn't feel rushed at all. Since the beginning of the shut downs and social distancing I have seen a drastic decline in service for my dogs at my regular vet (not pilchuck).
Pilchuck offers both externship and internship programs for veterinary students and graduates. Equine externships lasting two to three weeks are available to students who have completed two years of veterinary school. Externships are designed to provide hands-on experience in large animal medicine and surgery to students interested in pursuing an internship after graduation, and those seeking experience in a private practice setting. Each year, we accept two DVM graduates for year-long equine internships.

First I need to say that I have spent nearly 20 years working in veterinary clinics. I had an elderly cat that was dying, I called in the afternoon and was told that we could bring him in after 8pm when the er doctor is in. I was told there could be a little wait but they try to get euthanasias in and out as quickly as possible. So, we wait until after 8pm, watching our cat struggle and die.

I called when we got there and was told she would have to check to see if that was something they could do. She came back and said they could do but they are at a 4-6 hour wait. I asked even for a euthanasia? At which point the receptionist started talking down to me about what a critical patient is. I hung up on her and we ended up going to SVS, they were at capacity but will always fit in a euthanasia.

Which is what Pilchuck should have said. I know that euthanasias are not something that takes the a lot of the doctors time. I know that if they were caring and compassionate they would have helped us that night. Instead they basically told me that my cat didn't matter and he could just die a slow miserable death. I cannot even believe the way we were treated! Again, I worked in private practice for 15 years and then an emergency & specialty hospital for 4 years before recently leaving to be a stay at home mom. I know how things should have gone!

Terrible customer service, paid for emergency visit waited over 3 hours to be seen. Then was told my dog needed surgery costing $7000. I was told someone would call that night with update and never received a call back. I called the next morning and was told they were wrong and didn't need surgery. Then once again they said they would call with an update later that day and again they never called.

I called them again and they confirmed she would be able to come home and that the doctor was on the other line and would call right back. After an hour an a half later I showed up to the vet with still no call back from the doctor and they said it would be another hour and a half before she could leave. Not sure why they never call back when they say they will.

I honestly feel like they did not do anything unless I called to check on my dog. I would not go here ever again. The worst vet I have ever been to and over priced compared to others that are local.

Had a greyhound with a dislocation on a Sunday evening. We had to wait hours as there were some more emergent cases ahead of us. When we finally got in the Staff/Dr. were amazing with our girl and got her fixed up. So appreciative of the help. I highly recommend Pilchuck.

All the staff has been wonderful to deal with. We have been in and out of this vet with emergencies. We felt we are at the best place for our animals. Dr Murphy has been amazing with our husky. All the staff has been wonderful with our dogs and fosters.

My sweet fur baby had a blood clot in the middle of the night, causing him terrible pain and paralysis in his hind legs. Due to his age we decided going to sleep was the best option. Doctor Anna and the assistant were very kind to my cat. I am very grateful they are willing to work all hours to help people with pets in need. Highly recommend.

We got here around 4:30. They took in our puppy just for an Xray or whatever tests he needs done. Because he fell off his steps walking up to the bed about a foot high. They just keep telling us hes comfortable. They told us they haven't checked for bleeding or anything yet. They told us we have to wait in the parking lot. Then they were waiting for the night doctor.

My mom has a broken hip and a broken knee. It's freezing out. It's now 9 at night. They made us wait until the night doctor got here. Other people have been in and out in about 30 minutes all night. They refuse to let us leave the parking lot. I have no idea where my dog is. They say he's next but cant give an estimate. My mom can't walk and has peed herself because she can't get up until were home and we can get the weelchair out with the ramp and her toilet.

Its been hours. Worst animal service ever. Im so worried. He could have internal bleeding and they just let him fall asleep alone. Theyve only checked on him when we call and all they say is hes sleeping and comfortable. Why have we been forced to sit in our car for so long. What is going on here? This is not how emergency medical service works. Ive brought friends animals to other hospitals tons of times even during covid.

I'm a puppy nanny. Ive never experienced such a long wait woth absolutely zero communication as to what is going on. NONE ALL THESE HOURS. WEVE HAD TO CALL ALL DAY TO GET ANY INFORMATION. "hes comfortable" WHERES THE DOCTOR? What about broken ribs, punctured lungs, internal bleeding? Im so scared weve just been crying in the car for 5 hours now! Freezing and in immense pain!

I couldn't bring my dog in on Friday so my daughter took off work to bring my beagle in with a torn nail bleeding, they charge almost 200 dollars for emergency then did lab work, for what I don't know, the put my dog under to cut nail, put quick stop on, wrap it up and a cone for head and it cost me over $700.00. Outrageous prices for something so simple I could have done it myself.

I've been a nurses aide for over 32 years and yes I could have done it myself. Not happy with this place. They also put the wrapping on him all the way down over foot when it was just the side nail, was really hard to get it off.

They told us our dog would die without an oxygen tank and they said she was drowning from fluid in her lungs. They also did x-rays and didn't tell us she had a mass in her spleen we found out cause we went to a better vet and they said there was never any fluid in her lungs. So we payed thousands for an oxygen tank for no reason. But sadly we weren't able to save our baby.

Maybe if this place knew what they were doing she would still be alive. Absolutely disgusted with this place. Dr. Murphy and her minions are all disrespectful and heartless. They don't care about you or your animals. They just want your money. Notice how this place only has 3.3 stars? Save your animal and money and find somewhere else to go.

Pilchuck is one of the best vet practices I have interacted with. They are efficient and compassionate. My cats have never been so calm and well handled in an exam room. I always get the answers I need in a timely manner. I feel very comfortable leaving my pets with each of the lovely vet techs who work there. Shout out to Claire for being a fantastic receptionist and going above and beyond every time with a calm cheery demeanor.

Pilchuck saved our Gus cat's life the other night by helping him through a urinary obstruction. The staff and providers were very kind and concerned. They made management of his pain their top priority. He came home today stable and happy. They gave us clear instructions on how to help him heal, and advice on prevention of repeat trouble. Thank you!

I truly can't thank the veterinarians and technicians of Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital enough for taking care of my dog Peter. I had just gone on vacation and an emergency happened at home, long story short - my dog was bit multiple times by another dog with an aggressive history. It was nearly impossible to find an animal hospital because they're all very busy and this happened late at night (we live in Kirkland and no other hospitals in the area had availablity to take in another patient).

We finally got in touch with Pilchuck through their emergency line and they were able to take my dog in and treat him. Not only did they perform a procedure to close up his wounds, but they also approved medical boarding while we were away. One of the technicians even offered to help us and board our dog at her home in case medical boarding wasn't going to be approved for the whole time we were away. Had the bite crossed the abdominal wall, they would have had to cut up his belly. Luckily, we narrowly escaped that situation.

This was a terrifying situation, especially being on the other side of the world. The veterinarian explained everything in detail to me and made sure I understood everything before performing the procedure as well as after with the final findings. The staff kept us updated on his progress and I'm pretty sure they fell in love with my sweet charismatic pup. He's healing up nicely now and I'm so thankful that he was in such good hands.

Wonderful Staff and Vet for an ER visit for Luna. They were very attentive and help our sweet Luna. I have been to ER vets years ago for other pets we have had and I have to say this is by far the best experience. Definitely would recommend this ER if you ever have to take your pet in for an emergency.

Amazing service when my older dog needed an abscessed tooth pulled. Even with his heart murmur, they were able to do it safely and get him back to us. Prices are a but higher than what other places charge but the staff and docs made up for it! We will bring our pet to them for anything in the future!

We appreciated the care, concern, and kindness the entire staff extended to us and our Roy this morning. We never thought we'd have to say goodbye to him in an emergency situation like that, but you all made him comfortable and helped the transition for us all as much as you possibly could. We are forever grateful for your kindness, professionalism, and grace as we experienced something so very heartbreaking. Thank you for caring for our best boy.

The ER staff is so kind and helpful. I brought my dog in for some sort of intoxication and they immediately took her back and got to work on her. Dr Murphy called with updates and took all my questions and concerns. She understood just how much my dog meant to me and did her best to not only comfort my dog, but me as well! Her and her team truly saved my dogs life! Thank you Pilchuck!

We had our beloved 19 year old cat euthanized today. The employees who helped us here today were exceptional. Very kind and patient with us. Clearly they care about the animals and their customers. No heavy pressure just lots of love and understanding. Really impressed and would highly recommend them for your pets needs. Thank you

Extremely poor customer service. When my dog was there for emergency care, I had to call to get an update and then I was put on hold for an extremely long time. I was told that a vet would call me back but none did in the 2+ hours I waited. The cost is extremely high, but the care is not anything beyond what any other vet could do.
