Love them, they always treat our dogs when such care. Plus the dog park in front is super nice!

Best vet in Otay Ranch. Been using them for years, they've always taken great care of my dog.

Came with a found pet. The tech scanned the pup and helped locate the owner, even tough the micro chip was not registered. I was so glad that I was able to reunite the owner with his pup. Thank you.

We absolutely love this vet and will be sad to leave! Only reason for 4stars is that they stopped boarding! Victim of Covid I guess. They have an amazing empathetic staff! I can only hope we find a great new vet where we are going.

Save your time and money and go to another vet. I've been going here for many years and have been so disappointed with their care the last 2 years. They will convince you to get x-rays, evaluations, etc just to get you no answers to your pets problems. They also have a new 10-minute late policy that they don't tell you about until you walk in and have to reschedule.

This is exclusively on their booking system for the vet and groomers. Appointments with the groomer one specifies are NOT honored. My dog has ONLY seen one groomer and I get a text message that I never specified a groomer. This appointment was done MONTHS in advance and yet I am told I will have to see someone else. Apart from the groomer, recommendations that the vet makes for services are overlooked by receptionist and issues often arise when Trying to book appts. Their app is problematic

Had a great experience here today! Needed a quick check in for my dog who was recently spayed and they got me in right away and for a great price. They called me when an appointment cancelled too so I was able to be seen even earlier than expected. Short wait, nice staff, and the vet was great! Will definitely bring my dogs back here for future care.

In 2018, I took my Sadie in for a dental cleaning. Dr. Urbina was the doctor seeing her. Something went wrong during the process and my dog's esophagus collapsed/closed. I had no idea what was going on. We took her back in after a couple of days because she couldn't eat anything. Urbina recommended the Pet Emergency Center. Sadie saw a specialist and I was informed that Sadie needed balloon dilations to reopen the passageway.

The numerous procedures cost us over $10,000. I have always appreciated Dr. Anderson and Sadie always met with him. But, when he started expanding his business and brought new doctors, all went wrong. My husband and I went back to speak to Dr. A and he refunded us the dental cleaning and labs, but would not refund us the money for the emergency hospital visits.

I never wrote about what happened because this was very traumatizing for me. By Sadie lost a lot of weight, had to get a feeding tube, and was wearing diapers from a UTI she got from the steroids. What is worse, my sister had just passed away from cancer earlier that year and she was under my care. I also had to feed her through a feeding tube and change her diapers.

I cannot begin to tell you how traumatizing this was. To this day, Sadie can no longer eat anything solid otherwise she chokes and vomits. We have to blend all her food. I'm sorry Dr. Anderson, but this happened under your watch.

I recently needed an emergency appointment, my 9 year Boxer was hit by a car. I was appalled when they couldn't "make room" to see her. I have been seeing Otay Pet Vets and Dr. Anderson since he opened. They referred me to a local Emergency Vet where I waited 3 hours before seeing the Dr. NOT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE!

The absolute worst, most horrendous experience of my entire life. I showed up with my very sick dog with an infant in a stroller and my 4 and 2 year old. No one even tried to help me in. No one asked me my name when I finally got inside. I had to wait and then announce myself. Then after waiting 10 minutes they told me since it was now more than 10 minutes past my appointment time they wouldn't be able to see my dog.

I asked for the vet to come out and Mr. Steven could not have been more arrogant. Shaming me in front of my kids for being late and that I could sit down and wait an hour to an hour and half now. Anyone in here who has small kids knows how hard it is to assemble like this. We're worried sick about our dog who can't keep food down. And we were turned away.

As a business owner myself, I can it fathom hoe anyone could be so harsh and callous. I wasn't 30 minutes late. I was maybe 5 minutes late. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

I have been going to Dr Anderson's Otay Pet Vets for over 11 yrs and today I had an apt for my dog that was having bleeding in his mouth and I was 7 mins late. They refused to see me said "my window had closed". What the heck! 7 mins late the Dr was already preparing for next visit. This clinic does not care about the pets they only care about the money. Ridiculous! Needless to say I severely disappointed! Deserves MO stars

In 50 years of going to vets, this has got to be the worst! They are clueless. I visited them five years ago when I moved to the area. The staff was gossipy. Didn't return. I thought I would give them a second chance. This time, the vet was the worse ever! Horrible experience. I had to wait 40 minutes just to see the vet. She took notes and then said she had no idea was to do. Clueless! When I complained to the staff that I had been waiting 30 minutes, they did not care. Oh, well, they said. Really? Worst experience EVER in a vet's office.

I have been coming here for years and I have to say my experiences have been mixed. The worst experience I've had was when they weren't having the customers check in inside. This was terrible. You would call to check in and it could be an hour until your called just to find out that the receptionist never informed the tech that you had arrived on time.

This happened to me several times and the tech was super apologetic. Now that we can sit inside when we check in, the process is much more quicker. The clinical staff are always friendly and informative, it's the front desk that can be hit or miss. I'm hoping they don't go back to calling in when you check in because the process was severely flawed.

This will be my final review since I've decided not to go back to Otay Vets. My goal was to support a small business instead of a big known company. What a big mistake. All I got from this place was different Vets each appointments. It's been two years and never saw the same Vet. This is how a visit went. Saw the vet tech and explain why I was there.

Then she'd come back with a long itemized bill with services I'd need. BEFORE I WOULD SEE AN ACTUAL VETERINARIAN! How is it possible to throw me an itemized bill of potential changes before I see an actual veterinarian? I SMELL MONEY MAKING BUSINESS. These people do not care about my dog. I can't believe I stayed for two years. We are happy now at another vet and so glad we'll never be back. Please, do yourself a favor and run!

Love this place. Our fur baby just passed away but for 11 amazing year we had him we took him to Otay Pet Vets. He had several medical conditions over the years and they were always so helpful and friendly. We even moved about 30 minutes away and still continued to bring him there because we love them so much. If you live in the Chula Vista area or surrounding areas I definitely recommend Otay pet vets. Always quick to get our dog in and loved on him every time. Don't have one bad thing to say about this vet clinic.

Clean, attractive facility. Caring staff, easy parking, be sure to get directions as it is a building near, but separate from the main part of Otay shopping center!

To charge someone $60 basically for someone to pet my pup was just unacceptable! The guy that helped us just weighed our pup and checked her heart beat which when he did he didn't say that it sounds good or anything. I had to ask him to check her ears and gums which he just touched them and didn't exam. It was not the veterinarian, it was like an assistant or something!

I had so many questions and he did not answer or know the answer, I would have appreciated if he would have said he didn't know then try to make something up! I was not even given a after visit form stating her weight or anything!

We LOVE our OPV Team Hearts! We've been an OPV family for years now and our paws absolutely love and look forward to their well visits. Our fur family has included our Panchi (cat), Puffy (maltese), Kameer (blend), and Kassy (maltipoo) who was our rescue. Dr Anderson and team assisted us with ensuring her wellness and now she's the heart of our fur family.

Our visits to OPV are like visiting family and we love hanging out in the lobby seeing firsthand how happy both fur and family hearts are with OPV. We can't thank you enough!

So, I took my puppy Loki in for X-ray on his right foot that my husband paid for. When I got there, the tech Adrian came out and first gave me a form to fill out with the price of the visit. I let him know that my husband already paid for it. He came back out with the price crossed off but a new price of sedation if Loki needed it. I said he shouldn't because we gave him the medication that they recommended for this type of thing.

But he insisted that they might have to sedate him and said that if they don't the visit will be no cost and will take 20-30min but if they do sedate him, the visit will be $160 and will take 1hr. He also told me that they would call me or my husband if they go with sedation. Appointment was at 230. I didn't leave there until 415. I waited in the waiting area and I never got a phone call.

I asked someone to check on my puppy and they told me that he was sedated and recovering well. I feel like they wanted to get more money out of me and did not feel like being bothered with my sweet Loki so they just sedated him. I will not be coming back to this establishment for vet appointments. Only going there for grooming because we like the groomer Megan. She's very friendly. But the way I was treated by the tech and what they did to my Loki. Never again. Enter at your own risk people. I don't trust it. Just saying.

WORST. EXPERIENCE. EVER. I have never had such bad customer service. I'm talking for all business, not just vets. It takes a lot for me to get angry but I walked out of this office feeling upset and extremely frustrated. I'm generally very patient and understanding. When I get poor service at a restaurant or other business I always just let it go.

I don't say anything. I just won't go back to that restaurant. In this case, I had to share my disappointment. I am in the service industry myself, I understand short staffing, supply shortages and higher than normal business levels. Its tough, but we are still nice and accommodating to our guests. We are trained to listen, empathize and provide solutions for our customers.

You will get none of that at Otay Pet Vets. This office has a major problem with the staff they have working for them. Rude, condescending and feel as though they can talk to anyone however they want without consequence. This business is headed downhill. I know they have built a reputation with some of the long time clients and they probably are treated with respect.

But that is not how I was treated. If you look at all of the reviews within the last 2 years, they are mostly negative. The people with good experiences are the ones who have been using this office for several years. Anyone newer is treated like garbage. To the owner. Something needs to change with this staff you have. It is killing your business.

I have never been so disappointed with the quality of care at a veterinarians. I don't know if it's due to short staff or complete disregard. The wait times for appointments and the wait times on the phone are atrocious. I've been coming here for years and when I would see Dr Anderson I never had an issue. It's time to find a new veterinarian.

There are minimum appointments available. It took me SIXTEEN HOURS to get my pets medicine. I was kept on hold for 20 minutes. just to get his Rx from the vet on duty. This place has gone so far down hill there are no redeemable qualities. The new staff are ruining Dr Anderson's good name and once reputable practice. I am taking my business elsewhere as I do not recommend this office for your pets needs or care.

I just would like to share how much I love this vet clinic. A lot of people just write reviews to complain or point out the bad but I would like to compliment how this business takes care of their Otay Pet Vets family. I have been bringing my pets to this clinic since they first opened. All they wanna do is take care of your pets and they have always treated my pets like they were their own.

I like how Dr. Anderson along with the other doctors share exactly what they are going to do during each checkup (every step) and always answer any questions I've had. They like to keep their clients informed on everything they do. I have called other vet clinics to compare prices and with every one I've called in the Chula Vista area, they have the best prices.

They we're also very flexible especially considering everything we went through during the pandemic. If I could recommend any place to take my dog too this would be the place. They are a very busy clinic because everyone wants to bring their animals here however, they are super flexible and work with you to get your pet in as soon as possible.

DO NOT GO! If I could give them a zero I would. I took my dog here and from the get go customer service was always on the weak side. They weren't the friendliest and when I would go in they wouldn't make eye contact or even address you. I felt like I was always an inconvenience for them. However I let it slide because we first started going during the pandemic.

Fast forward In September 2021 I took my pup in for a potential ear infection and she was wearing a diaper because she was in heat. While I was there I inquired about getting her spayed. The nurse and doctor discussed the options with me and I made an appointment for blood work 2 weeks later. I went in for the blood work and I declined a few things and of course they found a reason to charge me for those things.

A week later I came in for my appointment. Checked her in, filled out some paperwork. They took her back to get her ready and then the tech asked if she had been in heat. I said yes and gave the dates she then proceeded to tell me I needed to wait 6 weeks AFTER her heat cycle. I said well this is the first I am hearing this and I was in here 2 times prior and it was never mentioned to me and she responded well I don't know who you spoke to.

I am very upset at this point because if this is a major concern prior to this surgery why wasn't it addressed the 2 times I was there prior or the phone call the night before giving me instructions on preparing for surgery? I voiced my concerns and asked for my dog back. I then left and called and spoke to Cassandra, now that the bloodwork I had to do will no longer be valid I would like my money back.

She then said well I can't do that and I said great I would like to speak to someone who can she then says WELL IF YOU LET ME SPEAK my managers don't come in until 10a call back then. I said no they can call me. 10:30a rolls around no phone call SHOCKER. I called and was placed on a 10 min wait and was told all managers are busy and they would call me back in 20 mins. 35 Mins pass no phone call SHOCKER AGAIN call and again all managers are busy. At this point I want my refund and Ill be taking my business elsewhere. AGAIN customer service not their strong suit

This used to be a 5 star business. Since they expanded however, it's gone downhill. I couldn't even say who the vet is! It takes almost 2 months to get a grooming appointment! When we ask for a vet appt we never know who is caring for our little girl. All we get is "suggested" lab tests and treatments with no diagnosis, no follow up with the test results, silence. Hundreds of dollars and not a peep.

We took her back again for a cough and they tried to push all types of medications and more labs. It feels like they're just pushing overpriced and unnecessary meds and lab tests with no care for our dog. Looking for another vet!

2 years ago this was the only place I would ever take my pets to. The Dr.'s were extremely understanding and informative right off the bat. During COVID I had to take my 18 year old cat to a different doctor for an emergency visit, paid $1,600 only to lose my cat the following day. After that, I felt like i could never see another vet other than Otay Pet Vets.

Well I finally got an appointment for my cat and dog and the experience was nothing like I remembered. I was presented with a LONG LIST of "well tell me what you want to exclude" for a final bill. I went from feeling like I'm doing everything for my pets to feeling like I'm not doing enough. really disappointed i was never even warned about my cats after effects to the vaccines. He got extremely lethargic and I had no idea why until I started googling.

I was a little skeptic coming in as a first client as some vets are a hit or miss but was glad my dog was Seen. The staff was friendly, and the dr was knowledgeable. Our dog had to get blood work, and office greeted us with respect and kindness. Needless to say, the manager was also helpful and explained our options for future dental work. Thank you!

I love this place! I've been coming here since 2009. They helped me "raise" three dogs all the way into their after life. I was so happy with them that I now bring my new rescue to them for care. From grooming, teeth cleaning, X-rays, ultrasound, to vaccines, they are amazing! I recommend them to everyone in the area.

Fuck this place! I was told a certain time to be there for my appointment. I show up on time, just to be told that I was supposed to call to confirm my appointment. I left work early to bring my dog to be told, "Oops Sorry, we forgot to tell you that you have to call a head of time to confirm your appointment". What the hell! What kind of shit is that. Leaving work early is no joke.

Then I get told that I can be rescheduled to make up for the inconvenience. I was looking forward to this place. I did my research, I read about the Veterinarians, I read about all their Staff. Bro, fuck your rescheduled appointment. Lost a customer, I will look for other options. Whoever is in charge of the appointments and schedules should be on top of their shit. I'm sure losing one potential customer might not mean shit to them, but to the customer trying to build a bond with a Veterinarian means a lot.

My one star is for the shitty receptionist job. Not to mention when you get there you'll find a small desk with instructions on how to check in, due to COVID-19 you first call and check in before you step inside the pet clinic. I wish that at that moment I was told that I was late to my "ON TIME" appointment, so that I didn't have to wait like an idiot for an extra 15 minutes.

Just to be told I was late, when I fucking checked in on time. The dude goes: Sorry to tell you that you're late, you had to call us 50 minutes ago to confirm. Bro, if your staff would have told me to confirm that morning I would have. I'm sure one customer doesn't hurt their pocket. But hopefully they take this post as a FUCK UP, so that they can fix the issue for future and current customers. We're talking about the life of our pets.

We will be switching to a new vet. I've been coming for about three years. I showed up the first time when I needed to make a quick appointment as my elderly cat was rapidly deteriorating. They got me right in and the vet was so patient and compassionate while I made that difficult decision to euthanize that I thought I'd be a lifelong client.

Fast forward to the covid era, and they do not seem able to handle the changes and workload. They seem to be incredibly busy. I've never had an appt that was near on time. It's even hard to get someone on the phone to check in. The communication is also not great. My cat's bloodwork came back abnormal, and despite multiple requests for a vet to call and explain what was going on, I never received a call.

A tech told me he would get additional blood taken on a future visit, but when that visit came, there was no record of that conversation and they seemed to have no idea what I was talking about. I also never received reminders by phone or email for vaccine updates and was told I'd miss the third part of a vaccine cycle by two days and would need to restart the series. I'll be looking for a smaller clinic that is able to provide better service.

Rarely would I follow a bad review into a good review; but I do believe in second chances. I am glad I did. My last visit was good. Otay Pet Vets impressed me this time with good customer service for me and my dog Bruno. Two employees especially, Melissa and Christopher, were rockstars in my book. With an appointment during Covid-19. Otay Pet Vets was very well organized to continue doing business during this pandemic. Following, what I thought, were great safety measures.

We communicated the whole time by phone while I sat in their parking lot in my car. I didn't have to leave my car once to enter the veterinary office. Melissa, one of the vet assistants, came out to me. Took my dog Bruno and brought Bruno back when he was done. The vet visit itself was to get my dog's shot record up to date and to have him checked out for an irregular cough.

The whole visit went as best as it could. Again, I believe in second chances. So glad I came back. Dr. Anderson is a great veterinarian. His staff did a excellent job. Thank you Melissa and Christopher. You guys were very patient with me and my dog Bruno. I appreciate you answering all my questions. Putting me the dog owner at ease. Again, thank you.
