Mount Mc Kinley Animal Hospital - Nadia Bacon Pioneering Standards We believe in pioneering higher standards of veterinary care for our community. We believe in changing what a veterinary practice can mean to you, and the way it can make an impact in your life. It starts with practicing gold-standard medicine, to every single patient, on every single visit. It's why we have earned the rare AAHA accreditation; we believe in excellence in everything we do. We think deeply about how to better care for your pets. It's why we are a Fear Free accredited practice.

Krislyn (Kristi) DeLeon grew up in a small Southeastern Kansas town where there were always lots of animals around. Some of my best memories are of spending time at my grandparent's farm and working as a horse wrangler at Girl Scout camp during the summer. My passion for veterinary medicine solidified when at the age of 16 I started working at ElDorado Animal Clinic.
We love this community for so many reasons. But above all, we love it because the love that you share with your pet truly inspires us. We believe in caring for every pet we see like our own. That's why we are always pushing to raise standards of care, deepen medicine, and enhance the life that your pet lives by your side.
Not all animal hospitals are accredited. Nearly 60% of pet owners think their pet's veterinary hospital is accredited when it is not. In fact, only about 3,700 (12-15%) animal hospitals in the United States and Canada are accredited. At Mt. McKinley Animal Hospital, we hold ourselves to a higher standard, and promise that your pet is receiving care at a hospital that has passed the highest standards in veterinary care.
Aska Animal Welfare Foundation There is a growing movement within the veterinary industry. A movement to rethink the way that we care for pets. This movement is based upon the premise that a pet's emotional well-being is intimately tied to the level of care they receive. That's because, when a pet experiences stress, hormones change their body temperature, blood pressure, and heart rate.

We like Dr. Chen, Dr. Deleon and Dr Kuhn. We have been using this Clinic for over 10 yrs. Each Dr. brings different ideas and care for our cats and our dog. We have recently found out our dog suffers major seasonal allergies. The issue we have is with their staff. I got a call regarding my dog's allergy drops yesterday. I was just asking basic questions-do I need to make an appt before giving the drops to my dog, do I need to bring my dog in.etc.

I think it was Tamara that I spoke with.she didn't have a definite answer to my questions. It would be up to me if I wanted to speak with someone before administrating the drops. I ask if there was going to be any print out information from them regarding dosage, what to look for in terms of reactions to go along with the medicine. She chuckled and stated that the Clinic is only the Middle Man.

If I have any questions or if my dog has issues with the drops I need to call the pharmacutical company that made the drops. I am like. The vet ordered the allergy testing.and suggested to try the allergy drops because of the severity of his allergies, but, they are only the middle man.?! I have never had this said to me before regarding medications for my animals. This is not the first time I have had staff that were rude, inconsiderate on the phone.

I used another clinic and wasn't impressed with the over all experience. My friend recommended this clinic and I had a great experience here, staff and veterinarians here truly cared about my dog Bella. The vegetarian is very knowledgeable and explained everything in detail. I highly recommend Mt McKinley Animal hospital for your fur baby.

I will always sing the praises of Mt. McKinley Animal Hospital team. Dr. Deleon is a fantastic surgeon and has always been generous with her time and policies. I have taken several pets there over the decade (one seems to be there every other month!), and only once did I have a problem - years ago - and that vet is no longer there, and Dr. Deleon made it right, and still checks on that problem every time I go in to see her with that dog. The specialists are great, and the regular vets do not hesitate to refer you if they think your pet will be better off seeing a specialist.

We have been bringing our pets here for many years. Currently our toy schnauzer who is 5 and our golden doodle who is 15 months have both enjoyed excellent care here. Great vets. Always friendly and responsive. Have answered questions over the phone and always worked with us to fit them in. Our schnauzer had a issue where his bladder was full of stones. They figured it out from his symptoms, operated, and he made a full recovery. He had probably been in a lot of pain and was doing a good job of hiding it! They are great with our wild doodle puppy (she likes to poop in the reception area as soon as we get there) and really seem to care about the well being of our fur babies. Would definitely recommend.

Really nice. Separate waiting rooms for anxious pets. Vet and vet tech were really good with my cat. My cat is usually extremely nervous around others but did so well with the vet. He even let her face get close to his head. Great veterinarian and clinic. I recommend.

We are all well cared for at Mt. McKinley. Dr. DeLeon takes time to explain the options, procedures, and medications and genuinely cares for our pets and their well being. I know when we are there we can trust our little ones, even at their lowest moments, are in good hands. From follow up calls to friendly staff and easy checkout, I highly recommend them.

From the Front Desk, Vet Tech, and Vet it was a 100% positive experience. Everyone was great with my sometimes skittish Chessie. Thanks for the great experience. ~Mary

So this is going to be 2 reviews in one just to make things easy. First my dog had broke a molar and got infected. Didn't notice it until her face swelled up on a Friday. Waited until the end of the day to see if the swelling would go down. It got WAY worse. Called my vet, but because i waited to long they couldn't get her in and they are closed on the weekends.

So i called Mt. McKinley and they told me to bring her in. They did x-rays and showed me the broke tooth and the horrible infection. Said they could pull it Monday morning. Decided to go ahead and have them do it. Glad i did. Monday morning my dog wouldn't move and couldn't open her mouth without yelping bad. It was so bad that she was oozing blood and pus from her mouth and eye.

So they did everything in one day. Pick up my dog at the end of the day and it was a night and day difference. I think if i would have waited until Monday for my regular vet my dog would have died from the infection. Super happy with Mt McKinley for getting to her quick. So the sad part. About a year and a half later the time came to say good bye to my old girl.

She went down hill fast and hadn't planned on what to do. Well, Sunday morning i knew it was time. Called Mt McKinley to see if i could take her there. At first the lady who answered the phone was kind of snotty to me. Asked me why did i think i need to put my dog down. At first it made me really mad she asked me that, but then i realized it was a very good question. Told her that my dog as 15, not eating, couldn't stand up and was in a lot of pain.

She said to bring her in and they would look at her. Got there and the first look at my dog, they gave me a room by myself. I was so stricken with grief i was really worried about someone saying something and going off. The ladies at the front counter and the ladies who did the shots were very understanding. Very professional people. When i picked up my dogs ash's the older lady at the front counter was very nice and sympathetic.

The only reason i didn't give 5 stars is the long waits and it seems like they go thru a lot of Vets. I like to be able to see the same person every time. Other then that i would highly recommend this place.

They are always so helpful and friendly. They do want you to wear a mask at this location to enter. You can also call when you arrive and they will come out to get your pet.

My boy Oliver started acting abnormally and after monitoring for two hours decided to call and ask for advice. Being new to the area we weren't established patients anywhere. The receptionist was so polite and helpful after hearing what was going on with Oliver. He recommended we bring him in to be seen and explained that there would be an urgent care fee which I completely understood.

We loaded him up and made our way down to the office. Upon arrival I was told to call and check in and they would get us in as soon as possible. We parked and waited maybe 20 - 25 minutes. The staff worked quickly and efficiently and the vet had wonderful insight as to what might be making Oliver not feel well. All in all it was a wonderful encounter from start to finish. To say the least we will be going back for all of our fur babies veterinary care from now on!

These folks have been our babies Dr's since they were 5 weeks old. They are very caring and thorough. Each pet is priority. We love them. When we lost Opie all the staff felt the lose and was very caring.

5 days ago i called Mt McKinley as i was desperate to see if there was something i could do to keep my cat from suffering as she had taken a turn for the worst and with all the snow I couldn't get out of my driveway nor would've been able to make the hour and a half drive to Fairbanks. I was distraught and just didn't want my kitty to suffer and what the receptionist told me absolutely shocked me to the point of tears. Telling someone they can take their fur animals out back and shoot them is by far the most disgusting callous thing i have ever been told.

My animals are like my children and i do not nor will i ever be able to do something like that. They may just be animals to you but my kitty has helped me through alot of really rough stuff and to say something like that to someone who is panicked and upset is abhorent and you should be ashamed of yourself. I do have the recording of the phone call and im pretty sure her name was said but im not able to listen to it yet. Sad that anyone would say that.

Mt. McKinley offers excellent veterinary care and has a high standard of patient care. Dr. Kuhn takes time to speak with us during each visit and promptly returns calls if we have follow-up questions. Vet Tech, Brenna, is thorough and kind when answering questions and explaining post-op care. Professional, courteous, clean, and well-laid out. I especially appreciate their waiting area with a few toys for my kids to use while waiting.

I brought my dog in to the clinic because she had an eye injury and needed treatment. We have been clients at this clinic for many years and hadn't ever had a bad experience before. We saw Dr. Vaughan. She seemed competent and was good with our dog. The issue I have is her people skills. She came across as demeaning and I felt at times that I was being ridiculed when I would ask questions.

I asked her how long to use the eye ointment she prescribed and she gave me a lecture on always reading the label even though the label did not specify. When she told me to use a quarter inch of ointment in my dogs eye she paused and asked "you do know what a quarter inch is don't you?" I'm like "uh yeah of course.who wouldn't?" I just felt it was unnecessary to treat me that way.

She could have been more professional. I would hope she wouldn't treat someone like this when they were bringing in a pet for more serious reasons like euthanasia. I would have been devastated. I will continue to come to this clinic but will see a different vet next time.

They were awesome with my dog. He was an Urgent Care walk in and they had him back relatively quick and called me every step of the way. This was his first trip to the vet without us going back and the Tech/Dr were amazing at getting him as comfortable as possible. The bill was 1/3 the quoted price of the After Hours clinic and 1/2 of what I I told them my budget was. I highly recommend them and Dr Chen in particular.

My pets have received care for years. Dr. Chen is my go to for my cats. She is just amazing. The support staff work their tails off and take excellent care when my cats need to be taken to "the back" for things. The front staff are kind and helpful. I hope everyone treats the vets and staff well, they are there to help us with our pets!
