A cranial or anterior cruciate ligament injury is one of the most common causes of rear leg lameness in dogs. The good news is that 96+% of dogs can return to normal activity with the right surgical intervention, physical therapy and 8-10 weeks of restricted activity. The bad news is this won't go away on its own, and the longer you wait the less the chance of success.

Slow. Got there at 8 and didn't get my pet back until 1145pm and all they did was an exam and subQ fluids even though they called me at 9:45pm with the diagnosis. Two hours to discharge is ridiculous. Their prices are astronomical as well. SubQ fluids should only cost 20-40 and they charged me 70 dollars.

Dear MAASH -please do not advertise you perform emergency services because we arrived there 1 hour before "actual emergency hours started" -please do not advertise you are open 24 hours when you refused to admit my pet and tried to talk me out of admitting my pet "well the vet will actually arrive 2-3 hrs from now" "the vet will see the patients in triage first so that might take another hour or two".such excuses -if I would have known my bleeding pet would've been a nuisance to your clinic I would've saved everyone at least a couple hours of everyone's time

Simply remarkable. Our newly adopted kitty needed invasive surgery. Too small to operate, we had to wait a few weeks for her to gain weight. Meantime, we and the team from MASH developed a game plan. Excellent bedside manner, better than some "people doctors". Kept us well informed and talked trough all options, procedures and what to expect. Answered all our questions and had real discussions about the situation. Called in many times with questions and were met with understanding and enthusiasm. Frank, but not cold. Warm, but didn't sugar coat.

We live an hour away and had to drop kitty off day of surgery and she would stay overnight. MASH called pre and post surgery and kept us well informed. We called overnight and were met with patience and understanding. They keep diligent watch over our kitty. Surgery was a great success. MASH performed a tiny little miracle. Many will want to know about cost.

We felt the level of care, the complexity of the surgery, attention to detail, full time over night monitoring and quality of the bedside manner made every dollar more than reasonable. We felt that they were just as invested in our kitty's health and outcome as we were. Thank you MASH!

Over the past 10 years, I have brought four dogs to M.A.S.H. for rehab and medical visits. Each animal was treated with expert care and the doctors and staff have always been very professional and kind. My dogs have been rehab patients for months at a time and it has made dramatic improvements in their lives. The rehab staff is always available by email to answer any questions that I have between sessions and they take the time to train you on the exercises so that you can perform them at home. As a working professional, I also greatly appreciate the flexibility in scheduling rehab appointments. You simply cannot find a better place to take your animals for rehab.

I've been bringing my golden to MASH for rehab and therapy for a couple of years. Sheila loves the people, treadmill and entire experience. She is still going strong in spite of terrible hips and a touch of arthritis.

Yesterday my dog was severely sick and hours away from death. Dr. Beth Huwe and the entire staff of the Huntingtown location jumped into action immediately. Within minutes of our initial midnight phone call, someone met us at the front door. Immediately after a pre-operative evaluation and digital ultrasound, my miniature Chihuahua was in surgery.

They removed an infectious mass from her reproductive tract that would have otherwise poisoned her. The staff routinely called me with updates, were genuinely compassionate and can truly be described as real-life miracle workers. We received comprehensive discharge instructions detailing post operative care and a plentiful supply of antibiotics & painkillers. I highly recommend Dr. Huwe and the team at Mid-Atlantic!

I am so blessed and beyond thankful that we were referred to this place for our beloved family dog. After a consultation here, our boy was diagnosed with bone cancer. While we were completely devastated by the diagnosis, everyone at MASH was so compassionate and reliable. It felt like I called them daily to ask questions on how to care and comfort our boy and they answered with sincere compassion every time.

I never felt as if I was bothering them with another phone call, even the ones I made after midnight. I will always recommend this place for anyone needing a specialty hospital for animals. They genuinely care.

My old timid girl needed an emergency surgery last week. The staff was beyond amazing. They made sure to explain everything to us before hand. Emphasized that it was fine to call whenever to check on our girl. Told me it was okay when I was a complete crying mess because she had to stay for a few days. And to top it off when I called a few days later with a concern about her not going number 2 they remembered my girl! I have never had a vets office be so personable and sweet. Dixie and our family thank the amazing staff for taking such good care of our lazy girl

They were there in our time of need and gave us so much information and treated her with the appropriate medications. Everything they did made the follow up appointments that our dog had so much easier because we knew what to research and what to expect. she is doing much better.

Bought me valuable time with my Buddy. I carried him in and he walked out. God bless you all. I have no idea what happens next but whatever happens they gave me the time to prepare for it and enjoy every second with him. I'm so grateful. I would also like to note, looking at the other reviews, they are very fair. He got a sonogram but despite his weakness he still gave them a hard time. To get a better look at the problem they needed to do it again with him sedated and only charged me for the sedation.

Short version: 100% recommended that you bring your furry family members here. You and your family will be cared for by true knowledgeable & experienced professionals with genuine & sincere kindness & support. Full story: After a week of our eleven year old golden retriever seeing multiple other local vets, his condition continued to worsen.

We brought him to Mid-Atlantic Animal Specialty Hospital on Friday night as he needed immediate professional care. From the moment we pulled into the parking lot we knew we’d made the right choice. They came out to the car to check him before helping us get him in. They did I swift evaluation and determined that he needed medical support to get through the diagnostic testing they would be conducting.

As the results came in they continually kept us updated & were very direct about what the results were indicating. They explained everything they would do to keep him comfortable if we chose to continue with testing & step-by-step explained each test & what it might tell us. We made the decision as a family that we didn’t want our old boy to spend his final days on life support being poked & prodded just so we could have an official diagnosis.

He lived a long, full life & we didn’t want him to suffer any more. Within minutes they had him set up for us to visit and spend all the time we wanted with him, about which they were very clear. We did not for one second feel rushed, nor did we feel any pressure from them through any step of the process. They truly let us move through the experience at our own pace & did so with unmatched kindness & care.

They checked in with us periodically, were very communicative, and incredibly supportive through a truly heartbreaking experience. When we were ready, Marley found peace in the arms of his family. Again, they encouraged us to take all the time we needed to say our final farewell & were so gentle with him as they honored our wishes for putting him to rest.

Anyone who has endured severe illness with and/or the passing of a pet understands the incredible weight that is lifted when you have complete trust & faith in who cares for them. It is never easy to let go, but every single person we interacted with at Mid-Atlantic Animal Specialty Hospital helped us get through it as seamlessly as possible & exactly at our pace. We are grateful beyond words & I 100% recommend them to anyone looking for the absolute best care for their pets.

Awful experience. Needed emergency care for our dog after an attack by another dog. This place was the one recommended on our vet's answering machine, so that's where we went. Got there before 9 AM and waited an hour to see a vet tech. She took our dog back and told us to go home and wait to hear from them. I was worried about my dog; she had blood all over her face and numerous bite marks all over her head.

After waiting 4 hours, my husband called to check on her progress. She still hadn't been seen yet! Apparently, they had more important cases to see first and she went to the bottom of the list. Not acceptable to me! If you don't have enough vets to handle the workload on a 24/7 facility, then you get more. Poor management in my opinion. It is now almost ten hours since we dropped our dog off and she is still not home. I wish I could give this place zero stars. Don't go here ever!

We are so grateful for them. They took great care of our boy. We were in need of vet care over a weekend for a dog we adopted not even 24 hours prior. He had ripped open his incision before we brought him home and we hadn't realized till we got him home. He should have been wearing an E-collar (cone) however we quickly realized why he wasn't. He became violently irritated with it after waking up from sedation.

They had to sedate him again just for us to get him home. Ultimately we had to take it off and monitor him closely so he does not mess with the incisions again. Our hearts were breaking for our boy with as much as he had endured in just 24 hours. A new place, a new home, new people, surgery all over again. We are grateful for MASH for taking great care of him. Veterinary care in an emergency is never cheap but they did everything they could to keep the cost down for us. And thankfully it wasn't too bad of a bill. I would recommend them! All of the staff were very good people as well! Kind hearted and understanding.
