Dr. Christine Barnhorst recently took over ownership of Walker Valley Veterinary Hospital, who had owned the practice since 2002. Dr. Lucas has chosen to stay on as part of the team and is critical for the growth of the practice. Together, we have chosen to remain a privately owned hospital in the sea of ever expanding corporate owned hospitals. By doing this we have the freedom to practice medicine with the best interest of you and your pet in mind. Dr Barnhorst started her career over 25 years ago as a veterinary Captain in the US Army where she trained enlisted soldiers, performed public health duties and cared for military working dogs and pets of military families.

The staff has always been very attentive and I have had a good experience with them and though I don't love the ongoing Covid restriction it's only because they are being extra careful. Unfortunately, I will no longer be taking my pet there. Over a week ago, my dog was having a medical emergency. I called them to get him in on the same day. At first they agreed to see him after a full day of surgeries and 15 minutes later they called to tell me they couldn't see him after all.
They recommended another vet which thankfully took him right away. Sadly he was very sick and I had to say goodbye to him. I'm not upset that Walker Valley couldn't see my pet. I'm upset that it's been 8 days since my dog was put to sleep and I never heard from Walker Valley to check in on his health or to see how he made out. This is no longer a good fit for me or my other dog.

THE most compassionate, amazing people here. A small country vet setting - not a large intimidating hospital. All the docs are incredible, the services are fair and reasonably priced and the LOVE they have for what they do is beyond compare. Dr. Kate has taken care of my dogs for years. recently we had to put our 15 year old beloved pooch down and the staff could not have been more compassionate or wonderful. If you live near here, or even if you have to drive a bit, I GUARANTEE it is worth it. LOVE them.
