UPDATE 4/28: things were much better on last visit (especially not having to endure that obnoxious guy's pitches before getting in with the Dr) - - - - - - It is a very busy veterinarian clinic. The veterinarians seem competent & professional. The staff is mostly friendly and helpful. Nevertheless, it seems that before getting one's pet in to see the vet, a flunky - I meant assistant - must harass us with a menu of add-on / sales pitches / options that might appear designed to run up the bill for a simple visit.

Of course, you can just say, "no". Eventually he will shut up & move on to the exam room. The vets that we have actually met were great. But after that's done it takes longer than it should for the busy clerks to get us the bill and process our payment. On the positive side, the place has a fine reputation, which must be why things may have seemed overly busy. However, the only part that feels arguably above average is the comparatively brief time actually meeting (or tele- conferring) with your pet's veterinarian.

My very nervous little rescue dog got her 1st vet check up here recently and did not freak out once! Everyone is so patient and it's obvious that their goal is to make going to the vet a pleasant experience for pet and pet owner. Lots of services and also chiropractic and accupuncture, wellness care. Dr. Vance was very professional and informative about Healthcare for my dog. A great experience!

I have been taking my kitty Dara to Love Pet Hospital for acupuncture and chiropractic care, and have seen a huge improvement on how my kitty walks and jumps. Dr. Huckabee has brought so much joy back to my cat, and helped her live without as much pain in her back legs. Dara loves seeing Dr. Huckabee, and always relaxes as soon as she starts! It has been life changing for Dara.

Very kind staff. Amazing results for a chronically lame dog after one acupuncture treatment. Well certainly return.

I really hate that I have to write this but I'm done! When we first moved to Austin we liked Love Pet Hospital and have had some caring service from some of the vets there. However, now every time I go, I'm so mad before I ever walk in the door over their continuing ridiculous Covid policies! They make everyone wear a mask and there's absolutely NO LONGER a reason to do this.

If YALL want to wear a mask, great. But don't make your customers wear one! They limit you to one person coming in with your pet and you have to sit in your car until they come get you. I complained about this today but they don't want to even discuss it. Really? I'm a paying customer! The last time my dog was there, I brought him in for a torn du-claw (sp?). The vet clipped it with no anesthesia! He screamed in pain & I cried. Now my dog is terrified of going in the door. He was terrified today. We will be finding another Vet.

I didn't find Love Pet Hospital until October 2021; I was referred by a friend when we were talking about if there are any vets who do homeopathic care. After spending thousands on tests for my ill cat, my original vet wanted to do "exploratory surgery" - so I have a cat who is throwing up daily and they want to "explore" in his abdomen & still couldn't guarantee a diagnosis.

Once we started seeing Dr. Wisbrock at Love Pet, my cat seemed happier. Every time we went there, Romeo would rub on Dr. Wisbrock as soon as he walked in the room (Romeo never did that with any other vet). Dr. Wisbrock recommended laser accupuncture as an alternative, so we did that weekly & Romeo seemed to have improvement the 1st few days after treatment (charges were reasonable).

One time Dr. Wisbrock gave Romeo a shot which made him jerk - Dr. Wisbrock actually held Romeo for a few minutes to make sure than any pain he felt was not intentional - I have never seen another vet do that (usually the vet gives the shot & immediately walks out of the room leaving the tech to finish up). Dr. Wisbrock always took the time to ensure I understood what he was recommending and answered any questions/concerns I had; I never felt rushed during our visits no matter how long the visit took.

I will mention that this practice is smaller, so if you make a new patient appt., you will likely have to wait for 4-6 weeks. However, once you are established, they will do their best to get you in when you have an emergency. I was called a couple of times to move my appt. by 15-30 mins. so they could fit in an emergency. In addition, Romeo vomited blood over Thanksgiving weekend and when I called on Monday, they got us in the same day (note that I had to leave a message when I called, but they called me back appx. 1 hour later & had already spoken with the Dr. & had a time for us to come in).

From what I noticed with Romeo's care, Love Pet is much more geared towards taking care of animals than how much they can charge (the latter of which has been my experience with the other vets we've been to). Sadly, I think Romeo was too far gone by the time we got him to Dr. Wisbrock & he went to the Rainbow Bridge on Christmas Eve '21. Dr Wisbrock called me later that day (mind you this was Christmas Eve) to find out what happened.

I really appreciate his call; I also appreciated the sympathy card signed by all the staff. I would definitely recommend this practice, and will be taking my other cats to him as our primary vet.

Dr Davenport is amazing - so caring and knowledgeable about both traditional treatments and options outside western medicine. She helped us change the diet for one of our cats and turned him from a 6 ye old prediabetic lump to an energetic goblin. He's now almost 15 and hasn't had a blood sugar issue since. The office staff however, can be less helpful - and it can take months to get an appointment, which is why I deducted a star

We've been bringing our beloved Harriet here for ten years and the staff and docs at Love Pet Hospital never cease to amaze us with their kindness, thorough help, and *most of all* their true love of animals. We'll never take Harriet anywhere else!

I just wanted to say that these guys are still amazing, I continue to take Peppah here for her tune ups and while she isn't 100% she's amazing considering she couldn't walk months ago. Our poor Hannah Bear passed away earlier this year as well, I was actually on my way to the vet to see if it was her time and she expired in the car. Needless to say it was very traumatic for me and I was a mess when I finally made it there.

The vet and a few techs ran out (masks on) to double check the inevitable and stayed with me for a little to comfort me. I will be a customer for as long as I have fur babies. This place is wonderful.

All our pets have been going to Love Pet since 12 years ago. You will not find a more professional and loving group of people. They treat every animal with love compassion and concern. I doubt there’s another vet with this amazing type of team. God bless them for what they do. There is no final veterinary then Love Pet and Doctor Wesbrook.

I've been a client of Love Pet Hospital since 2005 because they came highly recommended as the best vet practice in South Austin. I believe in integrative medicine, proper nutrition, and TCM so Love Pet Hospital is a perfect fit. My current dog and my previous dog have both been patients. More recently, my golden labrador was diagnosed with a small mast cell tumor and had other lumps appear in a matter of a few weeks!

The aspiration identified one as bad and the other lipomas (not bad). Dr. Davenport completed his surgery with clean margins and it was a GRADE 1 Tumor. This was fantastic news! She provided raw food diet nutrition counseling as well which I contribute to him losing 10 lbs and remaining cancer-free! I could be classified as a "helicopter dog mom" and the staff communicated with compassion and a sense of urgency.

They were INCREDIBLE from the first appointment to the last for his surgery. Dr. Wisbrock and Dr. Davenport have booth been extremely knowledgable, responsive to my concerns and questions, and flexible when considered treatment options. If there's anything I've learned from my own chronic health issues, is that treatments are not always linear, and it's highly individual. Some things work and others don't, I will always keep trying to find what works no expecting a magic wand.

Love Pet Hospital may be on the small side but every single member of the staff I encountered was incredibly friendly and patient with my rambunctious large dogs! They all gave them tons of treats (every person asked permission, don't worry) to make them happy and comfortable. They explained everything to the best of their knowledge and referred me to websites where I could do my own research as well.

I did decide to opt out of some vaccine booster recommendations just because I felt my dogs have sufficient immunity due to past encounters. I had Dr Vance and she was so friendly and patient. And the vet tech I had (so sorry I forgot your name, you were awesome!) literally sat on the floor to slather love on my dogs and distract them while Dr Vance did the check ups.

My 70lb dog was literally so comfortable he was laying in her lap, belly up to receive pets. The whole team was fantastic and accommodating! I could not be happier. The only thing I encountered that was anything less than amazing was that I was told bordatella was about $18 each and it ended up being $30 each. Not a super big deal since I had to get it done either way, but it was definitely a bit of a surprise at checkout.

If you are reading reviews to get an idea of prices and costs, I'll include what I encountered! The vet visit was $50 each, rabies were $23 each, and bordatella was $30 each. They also mentioned heartworm tests were $50. Obviously call for pricing accurate to you but this is a general idea :-) The pricing is reasonable but I will say at low cost vets (like Thrive) it's only $10-$15 for rabies or other vaccines usually, so there's that to think about if you are just going here for vaccines. Thanks for the amazing experience, I will definitely be back in the future :-)

I've been a client at Love Pet Hospital since 2002 when I brought my diabetic Siberian Husky for acupuncture, which greatly improved her quality of life. Since then, that's where I've taken all my other dogs. The veterinarians there are first-rate and very compassionate. They listen and spend time paying attention to your animal. They will do their very best to work your pet in if you need an emergency appointment.

Besides traditional medicine, acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, they also offer chiropractic therapy and AAT (Advanced Allergy Therapeutics). Over the years, my dogs have benefitted from all of these approaches, sometimes alone or sometimes in combination. Th e staff and vet techs are kind, friendly, and extremely helpful, too. I'm glad I live close by, but I'd drive all the way across Austin to get there if I had to. They are the best. Simka and Mitsu agree.

We have been taking our 9 pets (4 dogs, 3 cats and 2 rats) to Love Pet Hospital for the last 3 years. They have a great holistic approach to vet care. Their prices are reasonable. The office staff is really nice and always caring. Sometimes, their schedule gets a little wonky and it takes a little longer than expected, but we have patience because they are always willing to take the time to answer all of our questions.

Really you can't ask for a better locally owned pet hospital. They also don't try to up-sell you to other services that aren't really necessary. They also partner with AVES for emergencies or complicated care and the coordination between the two hospitals is top-notch!

Wow. They helped me turn my dog's nail condition around by listening to his history and current food intake and evaluating what food was best and supplements needed. The holistic doctors are amazing and the traditional ones are as well. So caring and patient and spend quality time with you and the pet. My dog's nails have greatly improved and they didn't try to sell me stuff or push products. I'm thrilled I listened to many friends' advice and went here.

I can't say enough great things about this clinic and the staff. They are the warmest, most attentive staff members I've EVER encountered at a veterinarian clinic. I'm so blessed to have them right down the road. They are honest and kind and genuinely care for your pets. They don't do unnecessary expensive tests unless they are really needed. Can't say enough good things! Thanks you Love Pet Hospital! Special shout out to Dr. Vance, she's amazing.

I usually don't post a bad review but after visiting this business the last time. I left disgusted and angry! My dog was having a skin problem and the vet prescribed an anti fungal and some wipes. After 2 weeks, my dog did not get any better. I returned and the vet quoted $300 for a skin test, and recommended some "other" alternatives that were even more expensive.

I ended up going to Manchaca village vet. OMG after the reasonably priced skin test $90, the result was as expected and I picked up some shampoo and a prescription was called in. My dog is on the mend, and I am so glad I decided to change vets!

We are big fans of Dr Huckabee. She treats both our pups and we have met a lot of wonderful people working at Love Pet Hospital. We very much appreciate the holistic approach that Dr Huckabee takes and she has helped a ton with one of our pups' allergies. She's also a very kind and warm spirited doctor. I don't think there is a vet practice these days that people will not complain about costs, I don't feel their charges are out of alignment with the market and we have been to much more unreasonably priced practices.

I was in search of a local vet that would feel like a personal experience when I visited. I have a cat who is overall very healthy. We began coming here for check-ups, shots, etc. I really like the way everything is set up. The drop off area is very convenient and the process is quick. Everyone who works here is very friendly. Checking out is just as easy.

Recently my cat wasn't his normal self. We were in for an appointment the very next morning. I found out that he was experiencing some urinary tract issues they required antibiotics and a special diet. I feel that the process was very straightforward and I was able to trust what was being recommended. I like the fact that I am able to speak directly to Dr. Hunt when I have questions. Now when issues arise I feel very comfortable bringing my cat in. I know that he will receive top notch care from a vet who knows my cat and care about his well being.

There may be treatments here that benefit patients. As a human, I've heard nothing good about chiropractic practice. As a pet owner who didn't know where else to turn, we went to see Dr Love. As with most doctors prior, we were just another time-slot filler with an issue that supplements and poor treatment were thrown at without a second thought.

We did chiropractic done by Dr Love. She was rather closed off and distant and didn't explain much about her process. Nor were there questions asked about his history and how this could possibly affect long term doing such a procedure. Basically, my boy was not an individual with individual needs. Time-slot filler. You have this problem? Here.

Take this treatment. We give this treatment to every single time-slot filler that comes in here, regardless of history or current concerns. About our fourth or fifth appointment, we stopped going. Her manipulations were causing spasms in his back. She chuckled it off without further question or assistance. The spasms have progressed. We're looking at possible paralysis.

We haven't been there in a few months. After his last appointment he didn't have an appetite or energy for three days. Now here we are, looking for emergency help because his hind end keeps spasming. He may not be able to walk in a few weeks. I am aware there are many people who love this clinic. They offer a holistic approach to the overwhelming toxins placed in front of us by primary care vets. Reconsider your choice in moving forward with chiropractic care. Beware when an individual full history isn't discussed and your pet is not considered an individual. Beware being a time-slot filler.

I decided twice now to try and use this local vet clinic. Called twice 6 months apart (in case the first time was a fluke) but no. Each time the lady who answered the phone was rude and short. Not helpful and short with me. Again, I decided to go elsewhere. Ironically, I have a friend who uses this clinic and so I went with him one time. We waited in waiting room for about 30 minutes.

The front desk staff was unfriendly and rude to about everyone who came in for their appointments. One guy came in with a big dog who was missing a back leg and the other back leg was in a giant cast. The owner had a towel wrapped around his waist. Helping his dog walk because he couldn't do it by himself. The front desk lady chastised him for not having the poor crippled dog on a leash.

In my opinion, every experience from the phone call to check out should be exceptional. I'm not sure how this place is so busy. My friend says the techs and vets are awesome but honestly I can't get past the front desk. I will be seeking my vet services elsewhere.

My 11 year old Schnauzer has had a rough 4 weeks with multiple visits to multiple vets for a range of ailments with little or no conclusive treatment options. I was referred to Love as an alternative treatment for a CCL injury. Gertie's appointment was made quickly by an amazing woman at reception. Gertie met Dr. Wisbrock and I was so impressed by the way he approached her.

He entered the room and just let her get "used" to him being there. It wasn't a "put her in the table and let me see what we have here" at all! She responded so well to that! I am OCD with my pet records and even went prepared with a detailed list of concerns. Dr. Wisbrock addressed all of the issues and even explained the why's and why not's of the past vet visits. Gertie had acupuncture and did well.

The amazing vet tech comforted my sweet baby for :20 minutes! I couldn't have asked for a better experience and even the ride home with Gertie seemed calm and less stressful. Very happy to have found this place!
