Before joining the Lakewood Animal Hospital staff in 2009, Dr. Curren held associate positions in Cincinnati, Berea, and Brooklyn, Ohio, and has worked as a relief vet. She is a member of the OVMA, the AVMA and has twice been President of the Cleveland Academy of Veterinary Medicine. A longtime resident of Lakewood until recently, Dr. Curren lives in Avon with her husband, 2 sons, 1 cat and a crazy large breed dog.
Lakewood Animal Hospital is a certified Cat Friendly Practice through the American Association of Feline Practicioners. We know that many cats find being away from home stressful. Having to face a dog only adds to their misery. Here at Lakewood Animal Hospital, we have a Cat Only reception area, Cat Only Exam Rooms and an exclusively Cat Kennel area. Our goal is to make your cat's visit here as comfortable as possible.

We're been taking our cats here for over 40 years and we love these guys. All the doctors and associates are very kind and caring to our pets and to us.

The staff was very polite and caring. I definitely felt like my cat Cilantro was in good hands during his vet visit, which made daddy very happy, definitely will be my regular vet and definitely recommend

This will be my first kitty and my first time taking a pet to the vet. I spoke with Colleen just to ask a few questions and she had great advice to share with me. She was so kind friendly and patient. Great customer service!

Have been bringing my cats here for over 6 years. & definitely recommend to anyone who needs vet care. Great pricing & wonderful staff, they always do their best to be accomodating & make my cats feel very cared for. Found and brought home a kitten in oct 2020, they fit me in for a welcome visit &shots in nov, & he had just started peeing on the floor (and laundry) a week prior so they squeezed in his neuter appt for two days later!

Never had a peeing problem again. So grateful they got us into their busy schedule at such a rough time. All the spay/neuter clinics were charging double or just not taking animals.

Dr. was great and tech that helped with my euthanization for my cat. This was also my first appointment. My cat was 20 years old. I just moved to Ohio. I was sticker shocked at the price for the visit. I paid. I picked up the paw print the next day. The name was wrong for my cat. I finally received a call regarding the mixup. The tech told me that I signed the paper and it had the name on it which was wrong and I signed it.

I had other things on my mind at the time. I will not be going back. Very unprofessional attitude from the tech who called she only wanted to argue regarding the mess up of the wrong name they had on chart.

Great place to take your pets. I moved out of Lakewood and still drive 25-30 min to take my dog here. My dog became very ill and since day one of diagnosis and treatment Dr. Koenig and the rest of the staff have been incredible. Extremely responsive, they always answer questions by phone and Dr Koenig herself has taken the time call and speak with me personally countless times while trying to managing my dogs illnesses at home.

When dr Koenig was on vacation, the medical director took over and did the same for me and my dog. Even while i was out of town and my dog was deathly ill, my neighbor showed up with my pet, and they took her without appointment and saved her life. Reasonable with charges/prices. I'm so grateful for this place!

I've been taking my animals, both cats and dogs, there for 40 years. The length of time I've entrusted my animals to their care speaks for itself. The original owner Dr. Barney retired and sold the hospital to VCA but several of his long time veterinarian colleagues remain on the team. The staff has always been professional and provided good care.

I've never worried about leaving my animals in their hands for any procedures needed to be done. The vets have never tried to push unnecessary procedures and have provided excellent educational resources when I needed them. I do feel, however, that the atmosphere has changed since VCA took over. It used to be a warm welcoming place and now has an impersonal clinical feel to it. All the prices have been raised to satisfy corporate profits. Sad to see it going in this direction.

VCA Lakewood Animal Hospital has always done a great job for our two lazy hound dogs and a couple of cats. Been with them for 10+ years -there's been a couple surgeries over the years and even a referral to a doggie dentist, they have kept the pack happy and healthy. Very thorough and treat all pets as if they were part of their own family. No complaints, great job - I'd recommend them.

Love the staff here. Super Friendly. The place is super clean. They're always on time, unless there's a emergency. They've taken such wonderful care of my cats. I wouldn't trust my pets in any other hands. I swear the staff are part animal. Lol. My cats are very relaxed in their waiting room and exams rooms. My cats sense they're good people!

This clinic saw our pet, interuped a very very short appointment, misdiagnosed the condition and then refused to see your pet when we called due to the pets' severe respiratory distress. We were told that they were going home soon and that we would have to wait until the next day. In other words they are happy to take your money but when your pet's life is in jeopardy, they could care less.
