Kimberly Crest Veterinary Hospital was created by Drs. Merle Lang and Ken Knutstrom. The practice originated on Harrison Street but moved to Kimberly Road in 1969 where you can find it today. Dr. Donald Lantow and Dr. Roger Laimans joined the partnership in 1969 and 1970, respectively.
Did you know that accreditation is required for human hospitals, but voluntary for animal hospitals? We've voluntarily chosen to go through the process of becoming accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) because we understand that your pet holds a valued place in your heart, and his/her health is important to us.
The Frankie Fund was established in 2003 in honor of Frankie VanSeveren. Frankie was a 10 year-old rescued greyhound who was not only a patient, but a friend. Frankie's kind heart and gentle personality made him very easy to work with and love. Frankie helped a countless number of pets and their families by becoming a blood donor.
Dozer's journey with chemo began about a year ago when we noticed the glands in his neck were enlarged. Our worst fears were confirmed when we received the diagnosis of lymphoma. Thankfully, our vet referred us to Kimberly Crest Veterinary Hospital where Dr. Thomsen recommended chemotherapy. We were a little apprehensive because we knew friends and co-workers that had chemo and didn't want Dozer to suffer those same adverse side effects. When Dr. Thomsen assured us that dogs tolerated chemo with very little side effects, Dozer's journey began.

They ripped us off! Was told our limit wouldn't exceed 2000$ and got updates that our cat was doin better and it may just be asthma! Then all of a sudden he passed. So we go to pick him up! Bill is 2600! They didn't give any form of receipt didn't give my kennel back and the lady Ashley was so unpleasant to talk with! We had just lost a close pet and they over charged us and she kept hanging up on us on the phone! So unprofessional! Highly do not recommend! Unless u don't want your pet back or your funds! This place needs to be shut down!

We are extremely upset and angered by the way they handled our dog's care. I took our dog to the emergency center, and was told that he needed surgery, but it could wait for morning when we could take him to Kimberly. He was worse when I picked him up from emergency at 7:30 am, and drove him straight to Kimberly. I called when I arrived at 7:45 and they came out to the car to get him telling me that the surgeon was on his way in.

She told me she was going to take him right back to surgery. I left thinking that he was going right into surgery. When I called at eleven, they said he was in surgery. I thought it was taking a long time, but we went in when they called and said he was out. Our dog was in even worse shape. He was pretty much brain dead and not able to breathe on his own.

After he died, we found out that they made him wait three hours before they operated, allowing a fever to spike, because they had scheduled surgeries that they wouldn't set aside for anything critical. Do regular hospitals and doctors treat their patients so callously? If we had known they were going to leave him on the back burner we would have looked for another option.

We weren't even able to spend that time with him before surgery to comfort him. We're waiting on what is sure to be a huge bill. Maybe we'll give that the same consideration they did our boy. This is the second dog we've lost that had the same problem, and now I'm wondering how long the first dog had to wait for surgery. I think they only care about your pet if it's not an emergency.

My dog has extreme anxiety about going to the vet, probably from our past experiences at other offices where he was forced onto the exam table or into a muzzle in a situation where he was already very scared. We decided to switch to Kimberly Crest based on reviews. This was the best vet experience we've ever had. They took so much time to gain his trust, make him comfortable, and be flexible with their approach when administering his shots.

He went from having his tail tucked all the way under his body to wagging his tail and accepting treats by the end of the appointment. I finally have hope that vet visits won't always have to be such a stressful experience for my baby!

We used to just take our dogs to a small vet office to get shots but after our first boxer began having more issues many years ago we decided to take him to Kimberly Crest. He ended up having cancer and passed away within a month because by then it was too late for treatment. But we have continued to take our other dogs in since then and have always felt they were taken care of and in good hands.

The vet is super up front with pricing, treatment options, and does a really good job at answering questions. We have an older boxer and a problematic english bulldog, but there is peace of mind knowing there is a place we can take them that will care for our dogs in the same way we would. It is expensive, but that's the price of healthcare for humans and dogs so if you want a cheaper price get your fur baby pet insurance. I will never take my pets anywhere else.

I got referred to Kimberly Crest because I have a very small dog that needed to be spaded. Dr Bahns did an awesome job with her, she was very kind considerate and professional. My dog Olive loved them all .

I was recentley consulted for my dogs acl tear. first off after the consult my dog leg was worse after leaving there and i feel the doctor did that to make sure i do the surgery and i decided to pursue the surgery, but they called me back stating they were incapable of doing the surgery because i was not buying their over priced meds and the incompetent staff could not get back to me in a timley manner, this vet practice is money hungry and the dr even told me he would be out of business without the surgeries, but they are the only practice to do it besides the university of iowa they are terrible practice.

I scheduled a new puppy initial exam and everything was just perfect. I am impressed by all the staff and especially Dr. Ryder. She is awesome and so involved in your pet as if the puppy or cat was hers. She responds to all my questions and answers the phone promptly when I need an answer. I love this clinic!

We have been going to Kimberly Crest for our veterinary care for over 25 years, and we have always felt our pets are treated with as much care as we give them ourselves. Everyone in this group is both professional and helpful. Thank you!
