Animal Acupuncture

Animal Acupuncture

Acupuncture is performed with thin sterilized needles (one-time use only) most often made of stainless steel. There is often brief pain of a minor nature as the needle passes through the skin. As the energy changes, the animal may experience other sensations equivalent to the subjective human experiences of relaxation or local numbness, heat, dull aching, or tingling.

In veterinary acupuncture, a primary emphasis is placed on the initial and subsequent clinical evaluations. These evaluations are based upon clinical history, physical examination, and diagnostic tests of the patient. The owner is encouraged to be present during treatment.

While interval and duration of treatments vary, the procedure generally lasts from 20 to 30 minutes, although a 2 hour appointment is initially scheduled to provide time for a complete physical along with a thorough history. Patients are often treated every 1-2 weeks for 4-6 treatments. A positive response is often noticed within the first 3-4 treatments, sometimes earlier, depending upon the condition treated. Animals usually require “tune-ups” at regular intervals, usually every 3-6 months.

I found Dr Cianelli through a friend when my pup was diagnosed with cancer back in April. Buddy enjoys some essential oil treatments & Rekki with his acupuncture at Holistic Animal Wellness, Dr. Vindhya Cianelli, PLLC. We even use his own oil blend of Lavender & Sacred Frankincense Young Living Essential Oils with a coconut carrier oil to dip the acupuncture needs in. Dr Cianelli has been a godsend making sure Buddy has everything he needs to have a happy, healthy life. His recent diet has made a huge difference with his overall health, the therapy treatment is amazing & the oils just what he needs for some extra attention.

If you are looking for alternative treatments, excellent natural health benefits, extra TLC for your pup or cat you really need to take them to see Dr Cianelli. I emailed her on a Monday night & Buddy was there for his first appointment that next Thursday morning! She is knowledgeable, does research when needed, gives suggestions but not pushy, compassionate, caring & loves each & every one of her patients like they were her own! She is thorough & always willing to help.

Customer Testimonials

My dog's stomach was distended due to high liver enzyme levels. The distention was pretty severe because my dog looked much heavier than she actually is. The only mainstream treatment available was lots of blood tests and then pharmaceuticals. The drugs would simply put a band aid on my dog's problem by suppressing her symptoms and that would require taking the meds for the rest of her life. I did not like that option, so I searched for another approach. That is when I found Dr. Cianelli and I was so glad that I did! Her office has a very calm and pleasant atmosphere that puts my little, nervous rescue dog at ease. Each appointment has been a good, productive experience for my pup. After 2 or 3 acupuncture appointments and a new nutrition plan, our little dog is back to her old self and looking trim and fit! She's even cured of her fear of cars because she has such good experiences jumping in the car for her acupuncture appointments. Now, instead of running from the car, she sits by it eagerly waiting to get in. Not only that, but she no longer gets car sick! Thank you, Dr. Cianelli.

Dr Vindhya Cianelli has helped both my pups so much through the years. I am so grateful for her knowledge and compassion through my oldest dogs lymphoma diagnosis. She has put me at ease through such a difficult time. If you looking for alternative health for your pet Dr Cianelli is the best around!

Ever since our first time meeting, Dr. Cianelli made us feel like family. Though my cat Ace was passing, she treated him so well and made him comfortable in his final hours. That meant the world to me. She treats the animals with love, respect and her care for them really shows through. My newly adopted cat Downee can be quite "rough around the edges", but was calm and content throughout the visit, even sitting with Dr. Cianelli a time or two. Dr. Cianelli's has a vast knowledge and experience with animals. I can't express my gratitude for her willingness to share this with me, but to teach myself and others about the medicines and treatments. She is a great doctor, person and mentor.
