Dr. John Zavaro received his B.S. from the University of Kentucky in 1998 and his DVM from Auburn University in 2003. He started Healthy Petz in January of 2008. Dr. Zavaro is a member of the Tennessee Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Zavaro enjoys raising cattle and riding horses on his farm with his wife, daughter, and son.
Healthy Petz offers a complete range of Veterinary services allowing us to provide exceptional animal care for dogs and cats in the Spring Hill area. In addition to our veterinary services, we now offer Dog and Cat luxury boarding. Our separate canine and feline boarding areas offer your pet a comfortable and stress free stay.
At Healthy Petz Veterinary Hospital, LLC, you can expect state of the art medical care for your four-legged companions. We believe in nurturing the human-animal bond and creating a harmonious relationship between people and animals. You can expect to be greeted by a courteous receptionist, clean exam rooms, friendly doctors, and caring technicians.
All dogs must be 5 months - 10 months old, free of external parasites, and up-to-date on all vaccines, including Bordetella. Socialization is classical conditioning - creating an association between two stimuli. Behavioral scientists have identified the period from 4 to 14 weeks as the most important window of time for a puppy's social development.

The vet, vet tech, and front desk staff were all very friendly. We were in a room much faster than I expected, which was a relief because the general commotion of the front lobby (dogs etc) was stressful to my cat. The vet and tech were kind and patient with my cat and he warmed up quickly. The vet took the time to talk about what my cat needed with me and I didn't feel pressured to make any particular decisions.
He got his shots and some medicine, also quickly, and we were on our way. This was my first time taking him to the vet and I was worried about it, but they made me feel much better about any future appointments

Healthy Petz has been our choice for the almost 5 years we've lived in this area. We recently took our newly adopted 5 year old cat to them with a couple of concerns about her teeth and eating. Dr. McCarty checked her over thoroughly and allayed any fears we had. She spent plenty of time with us and Lily and gave us very beneficial information. All the Veterinarians their have been wonderful over the years. Highly recommend!

I started taking my Frenchie, Jax, to Healthy Petz a few months ago. They are so kind and very professional. I've also boarded him there for a few days and that was a good experience too! He was neutered there a few days ago and this has been an extremely smooth process. Everything was explained to me clearly and Jax has had minimal post op pain or issue.

We were devastated after finding out that our lab had an aggressive tumor and had to be put down. The team at Healthy Petz were so kind, compassionate, and gentle with us throughout the process. They even let us say goodbye in the field behind the building so that our dog didn't have to go inside the office and get scared. It was the best possible outcome for a tragic day. Dr. Z and his team have been caring for our cats for over 15 years. We have seen Healthy Petz grow tremendously over that time and I'm sure it is due to the great care, concern and professionalism that the entire staff provides to their clients. Plus, everyone is just nice. Dr. Z and his team are never in a hurry to move on to the next room, will always not only answer any question but go to great lengths to give a detailed explanation of any suggested treatment, tests, etc. We would never consider having anyone other than Healthy Petz as our veterinarians.

Check in was immediate, we were escorted into a room and after a short wait, the tech came in to gather additional information, as we were transferring from another vet an hour away. The doctor came in, examined my pup very gently and determined what may be causing her pain. We are following his recommendations to the "T". We will be making Healthy Petz our new vet!

My family and I only moved to the area recently, but we were so nervous about finding a good vet for our 3 fur babies. 2 out of 3 of our pets have been there so far, and Healthy Petz has been so amazing to us! We came in for an appointment while there was a pet emergency, and they were amazing. Pretty much all of the vets were working to respond! They were apologetic about our longer wait, but it was so comforting to see how much they care about emergency visits.
Special shout out to Nicole! She's hilarious and really helped make us and our pets feel comfortable. You can really tell that the staff cares about your pets, which is priceless. Thank you guys for keeping our babies healthy!

We were devastated when Dr. Gilliam left Belmont Animal Hospital to move closer to home. I wouldn't take my dogs to anyone else so even though there's a bunch of closer vets we made the trek from downtown Nashville for him. Well worth it. The entire staff is phenomenal. The offices are clean. They ran on time, in fact they got us in a little earlier than our appointment. Highly recommend.

Brooke and Dr Rigsby were beyond expectations today. My senior dog suffered a stroke overnight and I knew it was time for him. They have a grieving room, keep you isolated from the rest of the clinic. Now allowing you to exit without going through the lobby. Nobody wants to say goodbye to a pet but these guys get it. And these two professionals went way above and beyond with my 14 year old dog. Both were gentle, kind, empathetic and graceful in what is an understandably tragic event. I cannot say enough good things about this clinic.

We absolutely love this vet and are so lucky to have them. They are always kind, fair in price, great vets, and know my dog by name when we come through the door. We have used them for 3 years, for both our vet and boarding. And then yesterday we had an emergency and they saved our dogs life when there was little hope. I am so grateful for Dr Grace and the staff who helped talk us through everything that was going on, while providing our dog the exact care needed to save him! They are the absolute best!

The staff are always welcoming and friendly. Very helpful and treat your “family member” as their own. Our Kuba has been visiting Healthy Petz for the 10 years that we have lived here in SH. We have always gotten great information about his breed, what to expect as he gets older and what we can do to keep him healthy and live his life to the fullest.
We saw Dr Moore for the first time today and she was amazing. She was very helpful, shared her knowledge about our Kuba & how he was doing. Our family trusts each Vet & the staff with our Kuba & he loves visiting. He gets excited when he sees us pulling in the parking lot.
