They easily could have caused more problems to my puppy with their technique for X-rays! They refuse to look at the problem area (ankle) and they say things like "cancer" based on x-rays, they had trouble getting! My puppy also has underlying back issues in 2 places and I believe they may have injured another spot! Apparently; no vets can be trusted! Yes; she had a TCPLO and hasn't been able to walk due to her spine injuries! However; she recently tried and her ankle swelled!

Why wouldn't they even look at her ankle? Were they just in shock (never seen a TCPLO before)? Idk why it's so hard to find someone who can actually help an innocent beautiful puppy? Vets hurt her more than they help her!

My sweet puppy had a balding spot above her eye, she'd itch it until it bleed, and wore a cone. After a glance and nothing more, I was told (after many contractions between staff) that she had ringworm. I asked how that was possible, she had never even been let out side. (I live in a high dog populated area, and she hadn't yet had all her vaccinations.

I had concerns about parvo ect.) I was told it can come from anywhere. I was given some foot fungal cream and sent on my way. Forward a couple of months, I return, my sweet babe now has balding on her neck, back, legs, feet, almost everywhere. I told them my concerns. It wasn't getting better. I was basically laughed at. I was told I needed to clean my house, because obviously the exponential spreading of the illness was due to a lack of cleanliness.

So that's what I did. I vacuumed every day. I shampooed every couple of days. I spent hundreds at the laundry matt cleaning every piece of cloth I could. A month later, the condition is as worse as ever. So I go to a vet I trust, hours away, and I am told my puppy has the most severe case of generalize demodex mites they've ever seen. At my first appointment I told the vet I suspected demodex mites, due to the location and lack of environmental influence. Demodex mites can drastically compromised the immune system, she has secondary infections, and has spent more of her life in a cone than out of one. why?

Because the vet didn't take 2 minutes to do a UV light scan to ensure that what she was seeing was ring worm. 2 minutes. One test. Instead I got a glance. And because of that a simple routine illness has turned into months of discomfort, hundreds of wasted dollars, and many sleepless nights of worry. You are a vet clinic. You are responsible for the safety and well being of our beloved animals. And this time you failed. Do better.

I absolutely love them. They've always took care of every animal I brought to them. Even helped me out with shaving my long haired cat. She's a handful, and doesn't let me do anything, but is an angle for them.

If you don't care about your animals, this is the place for you. Pretty sure that old lady is losing her mind as well. What a terribly ran establishment. I'd go to Mountain View Veterinary clinic if you're going to a Vet office. At least they give a bleep and aren't ran like a circus with a nut at the head of it.

My dog had entropion surgery here. Trying to get the specifics of how to care for my dog after surgery was a joke! I spoke to the vet, vet tech, and front desk who gave me contradicting information(the dog needs to be seen in a few weeks, the dog doesn't need to be seen again, the stitches are dissolvable, the stitches aren't dissolvable, he can have pain meds, he can't have pain meds, he needs ointment for the wound he doesn't need ointment.) Even the paperwork and reciept had contradicting information!

I called to speak to the vet to get the correct answers. I followed the vets directions, cared for my dog, she said he didn't need to be seen again unless I had concerns. 3 weeks post surgery, I had concerns and brought my dog back to be checked. The same vet I spoke to questioned why I didn't bring my dog back for his 2 week post surgery check up---I was never told to do so!

She was so rude! The front desk workers were apologizing for the vet, they even let me know they understood if we don't come back and set up the records transfer. Horrible experience! And the surgery was unsuccessful!

Two months ago I made an appointment with Hawthorne Animal Hospital to get my cat neutered. I dropped him off in the morning and picked him up the following evening. The staff seemed friendly and professional. You could tell that he had been put under for surgery with how he was acting. Two months later he not only mounts the other cat but he tried mounting my dog as well.

So I look and his balls still look really full. So I call the vet and make an appointment for the following evening. The veternarian looked stunned when she realized he had not been fixed. Then she asked if it's for sure the same cat and if he went outside at all. I told them he was for sure the same cat and I don't let him outside. I've had him since he was 2 months old and this cat has a kink in his tail a distinct meow and stands on his hind legs and begs for food and has since birth.

I told her I can call several people to vouch if this is the same cat. Then she told me that she will fix him for free but did not apologize for the mistake. I leave my cat there overnight and pick him up the following evening. Once again you could tell he was put under for surgery and his balls are no longer full. I still didn't receive an apology for the mistake or any compensation. I understand mistakes happen, however I feel they did the very bare minimum to fix this giant mistake.

Dr. Gerstner came in on a Sunday evening to see my son’s golden doodle Sonny who was close to death from what turned out to be parvo. He spent 5 nights at the hospital where he received the very best of care. Unfortunately he quietly passed away during his first night back home but we know that everything that could be done for him was and he was comfortable. We’ll always miss Sonny. When we get a new dog sometime in the future he’ll be seeing Dr. Gerstner for sure.

Workers were non responsive and disrespectful in my concerns about my dog. They also advised my family members that it would be appropriate to let my dog travel the 3 hour drive to their location in his condition instead of getting him emergency help. When we arrived, I basically got made fun of for freaking out about my dog's condition. They laughed at me saying that it was not a big deal, and made me feel silly for overreacting.

Their arrogance lead them to leave him under poor supervision and he passed away in their care at 3 years old. I am still in shock because of how I was made to believe that the surgery was so simple. I understand that accidents happen, but my experience at this vet could've been salvaged with just a little empathy for my situation. People come to your business for warmth and love in the hardest times, do better.

Hawthorne recently treated our cat Cheeto for Pancreatitis and a UTI. Dr. Gerstner and her staff were very kind with us and Cheeto and showed excellent service. Dr. Gerstner made sure to fully investigate the issue before letting him go home, and really had compassion throughout the entire treatment and explained everything thoroughly. We are grateful for their team, and so is Cheeto!

Drs. Oates and Gershner are fantastic. They provide down to earth medical care for animals with genuine care for both the fur baby and the owner. I never feel judged, just supported as a pet owner who wants to take good care of my animals. They made time in their very busy schedule for our dogs when we were in a pinch, and seemed genuinely happy to do so!

Best animal hospital in town. One of are former dogs died from cancer and they sent us a sympathy card. Before we went here one of our dogs got hit by a drunk driver and that place just put her down. I will always take my pets here they are awesome.

This is the only place I will take my animals! I've been going here for many years and do not foresee me taking my business anywhere else. They have realistic prices and amazing staff!

Hawthorne Animal Hospital seems to have a commitment to the animals, not themselves. They don't have a fancy building or waiting room and their prices are much lower than other places. I have paid 2-3 times more at other facilities. My sister sent me to them because they are a 'country vet' with a mission to do what is medically necessary and what is the BEST FOR THE ANIMAL. My family has been going here for 30 years. PS- I also recognize that every animal can't be saved, and that veterinarians are human. Thanks to all vets for trying their best!

We recently took our dog to Hawthorne Animal Hospital but were worried about being at the mercy of an unscrupulous vet. We're new in town. The vet thoroughly examined and diagnosed our dog. Thankfully, the problem wasn't serious. We were quite satisfied with the clinic and vet. We've found our new vet!

Absolutely the best animal doctors in Pocatello. Been taking our animals there for more than 20 years. Dr. Oates is so experienced, knowledgeable, and caring, plus reasonable rates. They will do their very best and NOT beef up the bill with un necessary procedures. Can't say enough about this wonderful group. They are in Chubbuck but so worth the extra drive if you live in Pocatello. They just this week performed a great service for our family, and I'm so grateful.
