Dental care is vital to the overall health of any animal. Dental disease leads to health issues with the heart, liver, and kidneys, and can affect the entire body through the bloodstream. In fact, 80 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats over three years of age suffer from some form of dental disease, making it the most common pet health issue among our pet population in Knoxville, TN. In spite of these disturbing facts, many pet owners are not aware of the importance of dental care to their pet's health.

My dog Scotia gets a little nervous at the vet and they take very good care of her! If you're here to leave a one star review, remember this: That veterinarian you just berated over your veterinary bill (that could've been much less if you had pet insurance or followed the vet's advice on preventative medicine) actually discounted as much as they could because they know times are tight.

That vet tech you just yelled at because they "took too long" bringing your dog out to them, they just helped euthanize a patient they've taken care of for the last ten years. That clinic you've never been to before and just gave a nasty, 1 star review to because they wouldn't see your dog on a non-emergency without an appointment at closing time, they just had a jam packed day where no one got a bathroom break.

That veterinary receptionist you just yelled at over the phone because there isn't an appointment available for you today is juggling checking clients in and out, answering the phones, and taking deposits for surgery-all at the same time. That ER Vet staff that you just screamed at for "taking so long" on triage just performed CPR on a patient for an hour before the owners decided to let the pet go. Veterinary professionals are suffering.

They truly do want the best for your pets and we will do all we can.but at the end of the day they can only do so much. It costs nothing to be kind. But cruelty and callousness cost lives. We are all stressed and stretched thin. A little kindness goes a long way.

I am very happy with this vet clinic. I moved here last year and I have a hard time finding a vet that would give my pets good quality care. I don't have a lot of free time for appointments and such during normal business hours so I'm relieved to find a great place. I had my first appointment this evening and Dr. Leah and the rest of the staff were so nice and informative.

I know a lot about my pets and their needs already so I am already usually somewhat informed on what the issue could be, but I appreciate vets that take time to explain everything. I really appreciate how gentle they were with my little cat. I didn't have to wait long at all to see the vet and my little kitten Ollie got a nice treat at the end. He had some trouble accepting his vaccines and so a smaller needle was used and Dr. Leah made sure to make a note for future visits. Ollie was scared in the beginning, but quickly warmed up to the staff and felt comfortable being there.

They are super cat friendly and actually keep the cat patients away from the dog patients. The clinic was very clean, decorated nicely, and had a welcoming environment. I also like their online format. It makes it easier to get the information to them. Excited to take my other two babies to this clinic.

It's always a great experience bringing our pets to Hardin Valley Animal Hospital. Dr. Leah was so thorough and took plenty of time to answer my questions about Gabby. The staff is amazing and their follow-up is wonderful. We have seen three different doctors since we started bringing our guys there and each one has been great! So thankful to have found them! Thank you to everyone!

I would definitely recommend HVAH! I was so impressed with how they took their time to make sure my dog, Rose, was comfortable. They truly strive to make it as positive of an experience as possible. Rose is very treat motivated, and she was basically eating the whole time which she loved She went from trembling while we were checking in, to laying down and relaxing in the exam room.

She even started to get excited to see the tech/assistant come back into the room. They paid close attention and noticed what made her uncomfortable (hearing other dogs). They made sure to note that she will do best in a quieter room. Rose also has a variety of health issues, some of them pretty rare. She is on several medications. The doctor read through and familiarized herself with Rose's file which I really appreciated.

I am a veterinary assistant myself, and I left my last clinic because of pretty much the opposite experience. They just crammed the schedule back to back. The doctors and staff really couldn't take their time. We had to turn appointments quickly in order to stay on top of the schedule. If a patient was nervous and being "difficult", the doctors quickly lost patience because it was putting them behind.

Because of this, I can really see and appreciate the value in a fear free clinic like HVAH. It was a breath of fresh air to see how gentle, patient, and kind the staff at HVAH are with their patients and clients. Everything from the waiting room, scale, and exam rooms were set up to cause the least amount of stress possible. Rose was more comfortable her first visit at HVAH than she ever was at the clinic I worked.

The only potentially "negative" note I will add: because they do strive to be as fear free as possible, your appointment may be pretty long. They may urge you to not do too many procedures at once in order to not stress your pet out too much. This could mean scheduling another appointment, which may be inconvenient and financially unattainable for some.

With that said, it was our first time here and I was asking for Rose to have quite a bit done (vaccines, bloodwork, anal glands, etc.) This most likely won't be the case for more routine visits. I also personally believe that every pet deserves the absolute best we are able to do for them. If that means I spend extra money to split up Rose's visits, and the appointments are really long, you best believe I am going to happily sit in the exam room and pull out my credit card. That's my baby. Thank you, HVAH, for being what an animal hospital should be. Compassionate, gentle, loving, and thorough.

Our first impression with Hardin Valley Animal Hospital is outstanding to say the least. We recently transferred our dogs there after being with another provider for years, but were not happy with their facility or service. Hardin Valley is like a 5 star spa for pets.no kidding! First, making an appointment is easy, and availability is relatively quick.

The facility is so clean and new, it's more like a really nice home. The staff are all so friendly and professional. We were greeted with a welcome sign in the lobby, welcoming us as new customers. There was no waiting, we went right into one of the spacious and clean exam rooms. There is even soft music playing to create the serene environment. Our Doctor and assistant were two of the nicest people.

They were both caring and friendly with our dog and won him over right away. The best part was that they took time to go over every aspect of our dogs health very clearly and patiently. They made it as though ours was the only dog they were focused on and would do anything to put us at ease. Their knowledge, talent and professionalism is the best you will find anywhere.

They followed up to check on us with a phone call, and we received a welcome card in the mail.signed by the entire staff! These may be simple acts of service that are not found commonly in business anymore.but the folks at Hardin Valley are a refreshing place to ensure our pets health and our 100% satisfaction!

Love their whole staff and veterinarians! We normally have Dr. Sherman. She helped us through a loss of our own dog from cancer, and when we were ready for a puppy, she has taken amazing care of him. Highly recommend! They really care for your fur-babies.

We moved to Knoxville a year ago so we needed to find a vet for our 2 year old golden doodle. This is the best vet office we have ever been to. Where we lived before we did not have great experiences and Ollie was traumatized. Ollie actually looks forward to going which tells me he is treated lovingly when I am not watching. Most of our visits were done with me in the car during Covid restrictions over the last year.

Now that we can come in I have to say Dr. Sherman is amazing. She is caring and goes above and beyond to offer the best possible care for our boy. The front desk staff are also always patient and accommodating.

Been taking my dogs here for almost a year. I had no issues with them until my husband brought them in for vaccines for boarding. They did tests that were not needed. When I called asking why they were doing these tests when the dogs' exams were fine with no abnormal findings, (and they had already had these same tests earlier in the year.) all I got was "sorry about that".

I received no explanation, no offer to speak to anyone else regarding the matter. I doubt we will return, and I likely will be getting my prevention elsewhere. I would advise not going here unless you want to be ripped off. This was clearly an opportunity to price gouge. He walked out paying $400 when the appointment was just for vaccines!

We started using Hardin Valley vet in February 2021. We used their home care service first and also take our pets to their facility. With three dogs and two cats, we use their services often, especially with our senior dog who had cancer multiple times (his cancers were treated by an oncologist at a specialty vet.) Sadly, our sweet Polo left this life last week.

And the staff at Hardin Valley were so kind and helpful as we held our farewell to him. The veterinary staff at Hardin Valley are superb doctors and the vet techs are knowledgeable and kind. Their "no fear" practices help our animals and us, knowing that the level of care is of the highest quality. We are able to make appointments and get medication refills as needed thanks to helpful office staff. Additionally, they follow-up appointments with phone calls to ensure our furry family are doing well. Moving to this area from Northern Virginia, where we had superb veterinary care, I never expected to find the same level of service and excellence, but I'm extremely happy to state that Hardin Valley provides the same level of care.

First time visit with our new puppy and it was such a delightful experience! Our pup had so much fun and got to greet everyone. They did a great job with educating me about her diet, medicine, training, and behaviors. Highly recommend!
