Shelly Stevens, DVM
I received my DVM degree from the University of Illinois in 1982. After working 3 years in the region of Chicago, my husband, Dr. Groesch and I moved downstate to be closer to our family. We bought Fairview Clinic for Animals in 1989 and built a new facility in 2006. I am interested in ophthalmology, dermatology and endocrinology. I am the proud mother of three children, two dogs and two cats.
Products & Services
At Fairview Hospital for Animals we recommend yearly examinations with annual vaccines. For dogs, we recommend Rabies, Distemper/Parvo/Leptospirosis and Bordetella. In accordance with your pet's exposure, we may also suggest Lyme vaccine. Dogs also need to be tested yearly for heartworms and intestinal parasites. They also need to take monthly medication to prevent heartworms and intestinal parasites. There are many selections now for heartworm, flea and parasite control. Let us help you decide which is the best, so we can prevent your dog from getting deadly heartworms. For cats, the recommended vaccines are Rabies, Feline Distemper and possibly Feline Leukemia vaccine, depending on your cat's risk. We also recommend intestinal parasite screenings and flea control for cats.
We offer indoor, temperature controlled boarding services for cats and dogs. For your pet's food time, you may bring toys, blankets, beds or their own food. We can administer any medication as instructed for a nominal daily fee. Cat condos are present in a separate boarding area, to keep cats isolated from dogs. The condos also provide separate sleeping and feeding areas. All pets admitted for boarding must be flea and tick free, as well as current on required vaccinations. The required vaccinations are:
Dogs: Rabies, Distemper/Parvovirus/Leptospirosis 4, Bordetella
Cats: Rabies and Feline Distemper
