Was trying to get my dog spayed but was told dog size is an issue. The basis was that they're not equipped to do surgical procedures on big dogs. Never heard of this before but okay.

I have never had a bad experience. The doctors and staff always take time to listen to my concerns, and take excellent care of my dogs. Have been with them from the beginning and will be with them while we have pets.

We have been bringing our beloved cat Phoebe to see Dr. Brown at North End for several years, and we wouldn't go anywhere else! Everyone on the team, from receptionists to techs to vets, has always treated our senior kitty girl as if she were one of their own.

My cat was showing some UTI symptoms and Dr. Brown was able to squeeze my boy in on my day off. Luckily nothing was wrong but got great recommendations and fast/reliable care. Vet staff very friendly and thorough, will always recommend!

My cat was able to be seen where everywhere else was booked until 3 months out. We got to the office, were greeted, placed in a room where we were seen quickly and not sitting waiting for long periods of time (like other offices). This Vet is friendly, quick, and compassionate. I highly recommend for other fur babies.

Each person took the time and kindness to make my senior cat comfortable, feel safe and not stressed. They listened to my concerns with sincerity and addressed them individually. Thank you for taking care of my baybay

Great animal hospital! Just had our annual exam and vaccine updates for our dog. Dr. Brown is so thorough, courteous and professional. Our appointment was on time, no waiting. We left feeling like we got the best care for our dog. We highly recommend North End Pet Hospital!

Just went here to get a blood draw for our dog who is having his teeth cleaned and a small biopsy done in his mouth next week. We just lost a dog so I wanted them to just walk me through his procedure. It's Covid time and every time before today we have had to call when we get there and they come get him. Today we call they say you can come on in So me and my husband come in with our sweet dog.

As soon as we walk in the receptionist who we literally just spoke to says super rudely "only one person is allowed to come jn" like we were breaking a law. I mean like really rude:(. I respond (nicely I may add )" I just spoke with you and you didn't say anything?" She says again rudely " that our policy". Uh maybe you should tell us then since every time we have come in the last year it's been something else?

So I asked if someone could talk me through his procedure and teeth cleaning he is a small dog so they anesthetize them which of course makes me nervous. I just ask " if anything goes wrong will there be vets etc.to help out? " she tells me there is a DNR we sign beforehand". Seriously? Why are you working at a pet hospital! I ask to make sure there is medical staff there and she tells me to read and sign the do not resuscitate paperwork beforehand? TERRIBLE SERVICE AND bedside manner. I understand we have stuff to sign but is that what I was asking? Or needing to hear? Will not go back here.

My cat displayed signs of being sick Thursday evening - burrowed under a blanket in the closet, very lethargic and didn’t move for 18 hours, discharge from his eyes. I called NE Pet Hospital Friday at 7:30am. Only one doctor on duty and he was in surgery all morning. (This is the vet for my 3 kitties)
All vets have been slammed by the pandemic- staff shortages, quarantines, and an increase in pet ownership. My cat wasn’t bleeding nor having breathing issues but I was so worried about him. I checked, and wait times at other vets was at least 6-7 hours.
The office assistant called back and told me to drop him off and they’d evaluate his condition by working him in between scheduled appointments. In the end, he had a slight fever indicating an infection, he was rehydrated for 3 hours and given antibiotics.
They went above and beyond in helping my kitty during very difficult times for all veterinarians! Thank you!

Dr. Brown is a very capable, compassionate provider who does his absolute best to make you and your pet feel comfortable. I have been bringing my dog in here since she was a puppy and I have never had reason to complain. 10/10 would definitely recommend!

Great staff. Great service. Great vets! I've been going to North End Vet since 1995. I love this place because they actually care about their clients and their pets! My kitties don't enjoy it but I do!

Great experience with NEPH, they continue to be very caring with our pets. This time was a new puppy and they were calm and very gentle with him. Clearly they love animals. They were responsive and very easy to work with. This is our second dog going to them for and we'll for sure be staying with them.

I was very unsatisfied with my previous vet and I am so happy I found North End pet hospital! They are not the cheapest vet in town (see previous statement, that vet was "inexpensive" but I was nickeled and dimed to death!) North End Pet Hospital is very thorough and knows how to take care of pets. Every appointment ends with a run down of what was found and a health check.

They took excellent care of my Lily dog her whole life (aside from the rocky start when she was a pup with another vet.) She had multiple health issues in her life, gastrointestinal problems being her worst, and they really helped us figure it out. She had many years of GI relief once we figured it out. We recently had to make the tough decision to put Lily down and they helped us through her sickness (mostly likely cancer ) and they were very gracious and gentle with her end.

They even sent us a card with personal messages about our baby. They understood her, even though she was always very nervous going to visit. I could not have asked for a better vet. I highly recommend North End Pet Hospital.

North end Vet has been my vet for several years. Dr. Brown is very patient with my dog and understands his ways. We just had dental cleaning done with his last two shots. He explains eve in detail, cannot say enough good things about him. The nurse's and reception are also a very pleasant team. If you are looking for a good Dr. for your pet please call Dr. Brown.

If I could do 0 stars I 100% would. we have a German Shepherd and he is 9 months old and 80 pounds. He is very vocal when he sees new people but is by no means aggressive, he just gets anxious. we brought him in for an ear infection and I thought everything went great until the dr. told me that she's giving me a sedative to give my dog so he's more calm because he "squirms around a lot and barks" he is a puppy still and you are a stranger so of course he's going to be a little scared.

I found out after I already paid and got my dog back that she gave me a pack of 20 sedatives which cost $50. completely unnecessary just because this lady couldn't handle him. Now the actual reason why I wish I could give them a 0 star and why I will never go back, today I took my dog to a different vet for his shots come to find out that the last doctor put all these alerts on his file and muzzled him without our consent. so now it makes sense that he was squirming around because he hates a muzzle. also I asked them to clip his nails which is $20 for her to tell me that she couldn't clip them all because he was moving around a lot.

Do not muzzle someone's dog without their consent. if you can't handle a big dog just say that but do not ever treat someone's dog like that again. you are terrible

Instead of just saying to keep taking the meds and wait. They had us bring the dog in to say it. Had to take a day off of work wasted money on an exam. Dr can not think for them selves. No ideas. Wasted time and money. Screw this place. Treat your dogs like crap. Poor customer service. Just zero stars

We only went to this place once, which was enough to know we would never be coming back again. Their covid protocol is similar to other vets offices: you bring your pet, call them, they come to your car and pick them up, the vet calls you as they check your dog to explain what is going on, etc. That is all good. Our issue was with the vet who called us as she checked our puppy, who from the very beginning was rude, presumptuous, and incredibly condescending.

She was rude when she asked us if we got our puppy from a breeder, I guess we didn't know this vet office only treated rescues. She was presumptuous when she assumed that we fed our puppy homemade raw food. We have done plenty of research as to what the best diet for our puppy is, and we are happy with the company we purchase his food from. Maybe if she had read the information we put down, she would've not made a fool of herself.

She was also incredibly condescending when she asked us if we too eat raw food. What kind of question is that? We are humans, not dogs. We also don't poop on the street or chew bones when teething. Don't get me wrong, we know most vets are against raw feeding, especially considering the money pushed by kibble companies into their practices, what we didn't know is that we would encounter such a smug, arrogant person. So, if you are looking for a vet for your pure breed dog, I would avoid Dr. Vollmar. Having said all that, the rest of the staff was polite and helpful as needed.

We had our pup here only once before he passed and the team was so great with him. Now we have a new rescue who is quite shy and scared still but the worked so well with her with so much patience.

I called in on an emergency, and the schedule was booked, but they fit my poor Bella in, and fixed her right up! She's a happy cat, now. Thank you so much for the great service!

I loved this vet and came here for years. Recently they've changed over most of their staff and I've wow one woman was extremely patronizing and beyond rude. After trying to charge me for way more medicine then my cat needed. after I wrote this review I learned that before I had taken our cat to the North End Pet Hospital, it had been sold to an out of state company.

New to the area and took my geriatric labradoodle in because of a recurring ear infection -- Received excellent service both from the staff and Dr. Nancy Lollmar, the vet that took care of my beautiful Beau. But, more importantly, they went out of their way to accommodate my lack of a car and took care of Beau's 'hairy' ears during the appointment instead of asking me to come back during the week (my family is only available to take me on week-ends and Urber doesn't take Big Dogs) -- It really helped me out and beautiful Beau is feeling much better! So, thank you North End Pet Hospital, Dr. Lollmar, and Staff!

The staff at North End Pet Hospital are so wonderful and compassionate. I had to put my cat down a few months ago and the team's kindness truly helped me through such a rough time. Thank you for the thoughtful card and flower. So very sweet.

Dr Brown at North End Pet Hospital is so kind and compassionate. He helped me at the saddest time a pet owner can have - deciding if it is time to let your pet go. He consulted with me twice over the phone when I had more questions. When I opted for further tests, he called a specialty hospital and arranged for my pet to be admitted that day. His patience and kindness really touched me. You can trust him with your precious pet.

I was just there with my very sick cat. It was about 3:50pm and I was refused because I did not have an appointment and their schedule was full. Ok so here is the problem. I brought in a sick cat. This says it is a hospital but yet they turn you away? I made an appointment but I will worry about that my cat will be ok through Monday. I really liked Dr. Brown, he once treated my miniature dachshund Oscar.

If you're a hospital then why do you not see any patients that don't have an appointment? The young woman up front was very nice but very firm but never once asked what was wrong with my cat. He's lost over 10% of his weight in a very very short period of time. She referred me to the emergency hospital. Those emergency hospital charge you $110 for just being seen and then whatever is wrong with your pet. Sorry, I'm not rich.

I do the best I can but that's too much. I take care of 2 dependents and 4 rescued pets. I think after reading some of these comments I think I will also decline and see if I can find another vet more caring.

My family has been going to North End Pet Hospital since I was a kid (more than 20 years) but recent experiences pushed me to move on. I can vouch for reviews noting relatively high prices and occasional recommendations of unnecessary procedures. North End's limited hours of service will also be a challenge if you don't have a ton of Monday through Friday, 9 to 5 flexibility.

At my last visit, I was 12 minutes late (for the first time ever!) due to extenuating circumstances. In spite of doing my best to be there on time, I was treated rudely when I called to explain and scolded when I arrived in person. Dr. Brown (who was standing nearby) refused the appointment but did not speak to me himself -- including to apologize for not being able to see me or to smooth over a negative interaction.

I appreciate that Jamie, North End's truly wonderful Hospital Manager, called to apologize and debrief (as she mentions in her response below) and that certainly lives up to the standard of service I have always counted on from her. She took my concerns seriously and was sincere in her response. That said, I've found a more affordable office that offers hours that are much more accommodating to a working person's schedule. I will miss some fantastic North End staff members, but I have found a better fit for me. [Posted 2/9/19, edited 2/20/19.]

I'd give more stars if I could. As far as vets go I couldn't imagine a better one. Every effort is made every time we take our dog Perry to reduce his anxiety and to make his experience as positive as can be. I was impressed when I went in today and I heard one staff member discussing with her coworkers that in the past, Perry had a lot of anxiety of the exam room so they decided to give him his shots in the waiting room.

A group of staff gathered around Perry, bombarding him with healthy treats that perry gobbled up while the shots were given. Taking Perry to the vet has always been super stressful for our dog but we were in and out in no time and not once did he show signs of anxiety. He left a happy dog. Our dog is our family and I'm thankful to have a Vet that treats him as such. We've got a vet for life. I've seen reviews on yelp about this place. Stating "no compassion", ordering tests that are not necessary, and high prices.

These statements are so insanely inaccurate. Prices are comparable to other vets. Every staff member radiates compassion here and we have had the opposite experience with test ordering. Perry hurt his paw and they recommending giving it time and medicine. They said if it doesn't get better they will do x-rays and, I quote, "I don't want to charge you for x-rays unnecessarily. They could have easily done x-rays and we would have paid for them without hesitation. Not once have they taken advantage of us.
