Owner

I founded Dessau Vet Clinic in 1986, and have the great good fortune to still like what I do these many years later. Veterinary medicine offers a daily challenge in problem solving and my customers are motivated owners who, for the most part, treat their pets as cherished family members. I have a great team in my employees, and together with Susan Waage, we make a great staff. Come on in and meet us!

We have basically an ungroomable dog. He does not like to be groomed and has been put under in the past! Dessau Vet groomed him with out sedation and said he did great which speaks for itself. The staff was friendly, quick and caring!

We have older adopted dogs who have emotional and physical problems and everyone here has amazing patience and love for our big puppies. There's no shortage of ideas to help us, great advice, patience and fast response times to questions.

They show an amazing level of love, care and knowledge and have yet to steer us wrong after years of going there. The lengths they go to to take care of our pets and us are fantastic.

Not only that, I've see so many other pets come through there and get the exact same amazing treatment.

Customer Testimonials

Just a quick "thank you" note for seeing Raine on such short notice...but an even bigger thank you for the DAP collar you recommended. Although all the literature indicated that it might take up to two weeks for the DAP collar to work, a lot of the literature said it can start working much sooner. Although I just put the collar on Raine yesterday, she is remarkably calm today--I had furniture delivered, and the deliverymen were just a big deal to her at all (that's a first)! Even more, Raine hasn't been frantically barking at the neighbor kids next door at all today, nor has she chased the cat... I wouldn't have thought the DAP collar would impact the cat at all, but she's now walking around the house calmly--no mad dashing to "beat" Raine. Yeah!

Thanks again!

I have known since Peter was a puppy that he would have special needs in his life. He was always just a little sick, not to mention a handful when visiting a vet clinic. When I moved to Austin you took Peter on without hesitation, knowing his history and behavior. I don't know what we would have done without you the past several years. You have been patient, compassionate and honest. I believe you always knew he was the biggest part of my life.

When Peter was diagnosed terminal cancer you did everything possible to keep us together as long as possible. I will always be indebted to you for that. The last several months have meant everything to me. I know I would have lost him much earlier without your help. I believe you are an angel. You truly took care of my boy as if he were your own. I could thank you every day for the rest of my life and it would still not be enough. I couldn't have survived this horrible time without you. You are truly the best.

Brought my adopted doxie here to have heartworm treatment, and a couple growths removed. They did an awesome job. The growths have not returned and you can't even tell where they were. One was even on the edge of his eyelid.

Awesome vet! They always go over and beyond for my dogs. We currently have 4! They have saved me a bunch of money dealing with my Great Dane with a ear issue, and calmed my nerves and let me know other things were not as bad as I expected. Thanks to everyone there!

We are asking all clients to PLEASE CALL WHEN YOU ARRIVE AND WAIT IN YOUR CARS UNTIL DIRECTED OTHERWISE BY STAFF MEMBERS. Welcome to Dessau Veterinary Clinic, proudly serving the North Austin, Pflugerville, and the surrounding communities. Our clinic was originally founded in 1985 by veterinarian Dr. Kellee K. Campbell. Dr. Campbell and our animal clinic team are committed to bringing our patients the best, most compassionate care available. After all, we truly believe our motto that "gentle handling makes the difference" in veterinary care.

At Dessau Veterinary Clinic, we truly believe that gentle handling makes all the difference. This philosophy is carried over through every single interaction our veterinarians and animal hospital staff has with each of our patients and their owners. From our emergency veterinary service to our dog boarding and cat boarding services we strive to show care and compassion to animals through our entire organization. We treat every pet and pet owner with special care and take extra time to explain any health concerns or veterinary procedures.

Did you know that pet dental health issues and periodontal disease is a growing epidemic? Can you imagine a world where humans went a few weeks, months, or even years without a trip to the dental office or brushing their teeth? Over 70 percent of cats and 80 percent of dogs have dental disease by age 3. Are you one of the many pet owners who don't realize that a lack of dental hygiene for pets leads to bad breath, painful oral infections, problems eating, and tooth loss? Studies have confirmed the link between systemic diseases that affect the kidney, heart, and liver and oral diseases.

Pets are aging along with the baby boomer generation. More than 22 million U.S. cats and 18 million dogs are senior pets, according to Dr. Kellee Campbell, the veterinarian who founded our Austin, TX clinic. Keeping these "seniors" in the best of physical and mental health requires special professional and at-home care. Although the definition varies a bit, a vet usually considers a cat or a small dog a senior at age 7. While owners tend to think of a pet's age in human years, there is no precise calculation.

Few moments are more exciting for any animal lover than welcoming a new puppy or kitten into the family. At the same time, however, you don't want that joy to blind you to the practical issues of responsible puppy and kitten care. Your little friend is depending on you for a lifetime of proper nutrition, preventative wellness care, and other veterinary basics. Fortunately, you can depend on your veterinarians in North Austin & Pflugerville, Dr. Campbell or Dr. Waage, to provide the proper care here at Dessau Veterinary Clinic.

At Dessau Vet Clinic, our veterinarian in North Austin provides the services your pet needs for optimal health and wellness. From routine exams to diagnosis and treatment of serious medical conditions, our full-service veterinary clinic does it all. One of the more common diagnoses we make in our office is for that of skin conditions and other dermatological problems. We strongly encourage all pet owners to be aware of the different types of skin conditions often seen in pets, their symptoms, and what to do if you suspect your pet is suffering from a skin condition.

Heartworm is a parasitic infestation that begins when a mosquito harboring heartworm larvae bites your pet. The larvae mature into long, thin worms that settle into the heart and lungs, creating serious cardiopulmonary problems. Fortunately, Dessau Vet Clinic can help you protect your pet against this potentially fatal foe. Heartworm affects dogs and cats somewhat differently. In dogs, the worms can live on for years, causing a gradual but significant progression of symptoms such as coughing, weight loss, breathing difficulties and exercise intolerance.

At Dessau Veterinary Clinic, we take our responsibility to animals very seriously. Because we want to prevent unnecessary pain and suffering for every pet in North Austin, we're proud to offer spay and neuter surgeries for dogs and cats. Sterilization is a common preventative procedure that reduces your pet's health risks while preventing unwanted litters, and we encourage every pet owner to consider it for their family. Learn why our spay and neuter services are such an essential part of our preventative care services here in the North Austin and Pflugerville area.
