Thank you for entrusting St. Francis Animal Hospital with the care of your pets. Our hospital is locally owned and operated, and we are proud to say we have been the leading veterinary provider in the CSRA for the last decade. We believe that every animal deserves quality, compassionate care and as your pet's caregiver, you are the single most important person in their life.

We strive to make you feel so much more than just a client and as an integral part of the team. Together we work to help your beloved pets enjoy as many wonderful years by your side as possible.
Services
St. Francis Animal Hospital is the only locally owned and operated veterinary hospital in the CSRA that offers both routine and emergency services. This allows many benefits to be received by our clients that include flexible treatment plans on a case by case basis. Every routine exam includes all vaccines that are due at the time of the visit.
Dr. Curt Garner was raised in Augusta and received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree from The University of Georgia in 1998. He has worked almost exclusively in small animal medicine since that time. He founded St. Francis Animal Hospital in 2003 and became the sole owner in the Spring of 2014.
We understand that not all pets have owners (strays) and that wildlife sometimes gets sick and injured. We also understand that not all animals can receive adequate medical attention due to lack of finances. St. Francis Animal Hospital wants to try to make sure that every animal, no matter how big or small, gets the best medical attention possible.
Located near Wheeler Road, St. Francis doesn't look like an animal hospital. It looks like the fanciest dog and cat spa that ever existed. Or a church, which is apt, given it's named after the patron saint of animals. And the folks who work there care for animals almost as much as Saint Francis did, although we doubt they preach sermons to them.

I went to St. Francis for an emergency visit back in November 2021. My bearded dragon had a shredded toe and I was in panic. Dr. Cheeks was AMAZING with my beardie and was very informative and knowledgeable about everything. All the staff was very sweet and helpful! I will definitely be taking my pets here from now on.

My dog has pesticide poisoning and is having increasingly worse symptoms for the last hour. I called an hour before they close and had a very rude technician tell me that they would not take us because they are backed up. She wouldn't even ask the veterinarian. Next steps for my dog will likely be seizures and they recommended we drive an hour and a half away. I know the work is hard, they're busy, and they're backed up. But, I would have appreciated if the woman could actually act like she cares.

The policies of this practice have brought me to never returning. They are open until 8pm but don't take appointments after 4. As a walk in I would have to pay extra money even though I have been a client for over 20 years. I am being punished because I work. After 4 you can't go in and have to wait in your car. Their customer service or lack of it leaves a lot to be desired.

I am heartbroken as I think the world of Dr. Garner but their policies are not customer oriented. I wish I could leave zero stars. Dr. Garner is top knotch, knowledgeable, and kind. I have taken 3 golden retrievers to him and now it is mini schnauzers.

Truly truly so grateful for the whole staff. We had an emergency with our sweet pup after a horrible accident. After being treated terribly at another facility, I gave them a call a little less than an hour before they closed & they told me to head their way. From the woman who answered my call, the ladies that came out to get him right away to Dr. Garner, were wonderful.

They were so sweet to him. Everyone kept me informed quickly of what was going on. All of my questions were answered without a rush. There was a sense of relief being there & feeling that our dog child was in good hands. Even with COVID procedures everything went smoothly & I felt my big baby was in good hands while I waited outside. Dr. Garner spoke with me over the phone & eased my mind.

The ladies that came out to my car back & forth (bless their hearts) never had an attitude & were so nice & helpful. I'd recommend them to anyone! Great customer service overall! I'm so incredibly appreciative of the staff!

We all love our pets. They are to many of us our children. And in this furbaby world we usually don't need a doctor for our children until it's at a critical moment. I have experienced many different veterinary clinics over the years but only routine check ups or a document for travel. I have to/need to share that I am incredibly impressed with the attention St Francis has given us in our moment of emergency. Thier commitment to our family both during and in follow up was IMPRESSIVE. I'm glad we found this clinic and I without hesitation would recommend the one you love like the one we love to be cared for by them. They are exceptional.

Saint Francis came through for our puppy last weekend when he was very sick. I was impressed with the veterinarian's determination to get an accurate diagnosis and resolve our dog's problem in timely and efficient manner. Staff was great too.

I have entrusted the care of my poodles to St. Francis for at least 14 years or more and I'm at the point of considering leaving them. I always knew they were more expensive but I was willing to pay a little more to have access and quality care. Unfortunately, that has been dwindling for some time now. No longer a 24/7 location and even long time established patients have to pay ridiculous prices for emergencies to be seen on Saturday's.

I use to refer people to St. Francis but will no longer do so. This week I was about to hit the roof with one of the ladies up front. I had to call multiple times and even showed up at the front desk a couple of times. The lady could not seem to grasp the fact that with having multiple dogs on medication that you need to have similar delivery systems.

This fact is intensified when you know you will be having someone else taking care of your fur babies for a week. Now here is the part that really got me and she is lucky that I was trying to be professional and explain the situation.she had the nerve to state, "You're going to trust someone with your dogs that you can't trust to handle their medications?" I would explain all about the prescribed measures of the medications but it is too much to go into detail and that is why I wanted simplification.

This point did not seem to get through to them no matter how many times I called or showed up. But there was no problem with them insulting me on who was caring for my poodles for a week. What nerve! I spend thousands of dollars with St. Francis every year to care for my fur babies!

We booked an appointment a month out, arrived to the appointment, finding out they never booked my pet in the system. They said they can take him as a walk-in but will cost more. Now we have to wait another month. Total BS. I like the line by the staff telling me I must have booked it at another clinic or hospital. Why would I do that when we are on the VIP and been taking the animal there since we've owned him.

My family is highly considering taking him to another vet from this point on. If the front staff can't book the appointment right, then who knows what other breakdowns happen within their facility. By the way, the original appointment was in November but had to reschedule it to December due to college classes. They need to start sending email or text confirmations of the appointments after booking them. Update: St Francis did reach out and called me (and my daughter/pet owner) the same day but it didn't go anywhere.

I'm not quite sure why they called because they didn't make any improvements. The next appointment is still in January. Although, they did ask who did we talk to on when we made the appointments? It's like we are are going to remember the name 30-60 days out. Also, I don't think they state their names when they answer your phone call. But I know you get placed on hold every time you call.

St. Francis did a wonderful job with making sure my dog felt comfortable during our most recent visit. Even though my dog struggles with really bad anxiety, the St. Francis staff was very accommodating and helpful. Thank you St. Francis for a wonderful visit!

It is with a heavy heart that I type this and say I had to make the choice today to let my Heidi baby go to Heaven. I brought her back to the states from Germany in 2013. At her time of passing she was 11 (almost 12 because her birthday would have been in the next month), was an indoor cat only and was not once sick. I suffer from depression and anxiety and believe you me, she knew how to touch my soul and make everything better with a cuddle and a look from her beautiful eyes.

She had the cutest character and I really just feel she was a tiny furry human. But a compassionate one that only knew love. The reason I am taking a moment of this day to write a review is because I give 100% praises to St Francis Animal Hospital. Beginning with the staff and then finally with the doctor, there was nothing but honesty, patience and kindness through the whole process. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Dr. Burkshire and staff. May God continue to guide your hands with everyone's furry earthly angels.
