Dr. Rafferty has been married to Lisa Rafferty since 1993 and they are blessed with 2 children - twins - Thomas and Ellie.
Many people have questions about various aspects of their pet's surgery, and we hope this information will help. Today's modern anesthetic monitors have made surgery much safer than in the past. Here at Circle C Animal Hospital, we do a thorough physical exam on your pet before administering anesthetics, to ensure that a fever or other illness won't be a problem.

Hands down the best vet in Austin! We took a sick dog in and, per usual, everyone was so kind and friendly. The appoint was quick and efficient. Dr. Neeley obviously loves her job and cares about the animals.

Even little things stand out. For instance, one of the meds prescribed was for a half-tablet dosage. No biggie - I can chop a tablet. They had already done that for the entire bottle though! It’s things like this that set them apart.

I can't articulate how pleased and appreciative I am of the level of service, care and results we consistently have with Circle C. Without exception, every staff member is kind, patient and clearly cares deeply about what they do. Both our dogs had always been very wary of veterinarians until they experienced Circle C. Now, they can't wait to get inside and see their friends.

When our puppy needed emergency treatment, Circle C coordinated a specialist surgeon that night, stayed way past close and worked diligently to save our lil pup. They even went out of their way to distract us and cheer us up while we were sitting there, stewing in anxiety. When I profusely apologized and asked how I could repay them for going the extra mile, they said his health was all they wanted. It clearly wasn't just lip service. If you live in the Austin area, this is 100% the best place to bring your pet to be cared for by the best veterinarian team, period.

These vets know so much about greyhounds. We came from a state that had good vets but knew next to nothing about greyhounds. We were recommended by GALT, the local greyhound group. When our boy got hemangiosarcoma, they knew EXACTLY what it was and what the prognosis would be. They were in contact with the emergency clinic in San Antonio and monitored his case.

They were honest and frank, but in the kindest way possible. They really put the pets care first. That's why we drove from San Antonio to Austin when we had to help our boy cross the rainbow bridge. Every experience we've had there has been nothing short of exemplary. They are the kindest and most compassionate humans I have ever met. Thank you for caring for our boy.

I took my dog here after a less than pleasant experience at a different local vet. The vet tech and the doctor were both extremely polite and helpful. They were able to diagnose the issue and provide suitable treatment all while remaining extremely professional and transparent.

Good staff, clean and pleasant facility, excellent care. I just wanted to share from my most recent visit that they are currently doing some renovations. They took my cat from me, closed the door, and then the sounds of hammering and a drill filled the room from behind the door. The Looney-Tunesque effect, while not part of their regular services, was absolutely worth the price of admission. I'm still laughing.

I have been taking my pets to CCAH for 10 years. Nothing but excellent service. Call backs after hours. Have had emergency visits and Dr Duncan has stayed after hours with his staff to perform surgery on my cat. Informative, communicative, professional doctors and staff who genuinely care about owners and their pets.

We are new clients to Circle C animal hospital. It's always nerve racking to find a new vet after a move that you can trust with your pets. We had just moved to southwest Austin and I came across CCAH since it was right down the road from my house. I am so glad we gave it a try! Our new vet was very kind, they were able to make us an appointment a week out, and the costs were actually reasonable for once. I think we've found ourselves our go-to vet!

I want to thank Dr. Greenville and the entire staff at CCAH for the exemplary care our dog Griffin received today. I can hardly imagine a more focused and sincere effort to diagnose his condition given the perplexing clinical information. Nor could I ask for anything more than the thoughtful and patient updates and discussion of his care that you provided.

Although your office phone was ringing off the hook, and your services were in non-stop high demand, you made our pup a priority with genuine concern for his well-being and expert dedication to untangling his confusing symptomology and test results to try to bring him back to health. You've put him on the road to recovery.and helped us sleep so much better at night.

Dr. Rafferty is excellent! The Vet techs are wonderful and caring! However, the "desk staff" is a huge problem. I have taken my dog there almost 14 years, and almost every time I interact with the staff at the front desk, there's a communication issue, either NOT looking at the chart for my dog ( to get an idea of history, and treatment patterns)- or they make decisions without asking Dr. Rafftery and it becomes a bigger problem (3 times this happened, and one time almost killing my dog). I'm kinda fed up! It's terribly sad because the actual Doctors at Circle C are fantastic. The desk staff is just ding-dongs with zero skill in handling office tasks and patient chart-juggling.

I'm always nervous about new vets, and with the changes not being able to go in with dogs was hard. Circle C is amazing, they were kind and patient with my pups. Both vets Took time to go over their exams in full with me. I think they take a conservative approach to treatments and provided a number of options. They knew my pups were my kids and they treated them that way.

The front office staff are wonderful and the techs as well, everything is organized and efficient. Both appointment I was done in 30 min, highly recommended Circle C Vet Hospital!

We have two cats and two dogs and we have been going to Circle C for years. They diagnosed my older dog with lymphoma and helped us care for her through her chemo, so I'll always credit them with giving us this "extra" time with her. The vets (we have seen all of them by now, because we sometimes take a first available appointment-they are all fantastic) always take the time to answer all my questions and make sure I feel comfortable with my pet's treatment plan. And the vet techs are so kind and patient with my pets, even though they aren't in their best form when they are visiting. I'm so happy I found Circle C!

We have been bringing our beloved fur babies to Circle C Animal Hospital for 8 years and have always been happy with their services and treatment. We have seen all the doctors at one time or another over the years and everyone is so nice and caring. We were especially impressed with the care and compassion shown when our 15 year old kitty became sick beyond recovery and they helped him move on peacefully and let us take all the time we needed to say goodbye. We also received a personalized little memento to remember our sweet boy. Now we have 3 more fur babies to love and trust Circle C with their veterinary care.

My kitties have been getting annual check ups and vaccinations from here since it's the closest. Workers are very kind, they all loves animals. I love the chill atmosphere here, they strict on following clinical guidelines especially pandemic time like this. They are patiently respect the customer. Also do care for your buddies. My cats are sensitive, they took care of them very well. Sometimes one of my kitty are too stressed due to dogs may surround him while he waits at the lobby, he pisses himself, though it never had happened from this clinic. Nice!

Absolutely love this animal hospital! Dr. Rafferty is the best you can find. He truly cares about the wellbeing of your animal and has never been anything but calm and patient while caring for them. He and his staff are also very communicative with me and always makes sure I understand exactly what is going on with all my animals. His assistants are amazing as well! They are always kind and informative and stay patient with my animals! Overall an amazing animal hospital and I highly recommend!

I always receive great care for my two dogs here. The vets and staff deeply care for them. However, I recently no longer trust their decisions. Maybe I am naive or too trustworthy, but I had a recent experience that put a really bad taste in my mouth. My dog is on the older side and is pretty lumpy. She has benign cysts, which can burst. The first one that burst wouldn't heal with just antibiotics.

The next step is surgery to have it removed. The price to have it removed was too expensive at Circle C, so we went to Love Pet Hospital. Fast forward about a year, another cyst burst. We went back to Circle C, since they are our normal vet and have always done right by us in the past (or so I think). We are going to try the same regimen of antibiotics to see if it will heal without surgery.

Here is the part that really irked me. The bill was around $330, with $175 of the bill being two types of antibiotics. My dog was at an overnight pet place for a week and we just got home for the holidays before having to bring her to the vet. I wasn't really thinking and just trusted that this was the best decision for my dog. The $175 of antibiotics would have been $75 if I got the prescription elsewhere.

The one prescription for Prednisone cost me $35 and it would have been around $2.50 elsewhere. I didn't know I should be price checking the itemized bill at the vet. I trusted them fully. When I called to see if I could return the pills, I found out that it is against the law once I leave the office to bring back medications. I asked why the discrepancy in price and the answer I received was that they are a small business and can't compete with big box pharmacies.

I understand this fact, but I would have expected them to point me somewhere else instead of have me spend an extra $100 on meds. I have brought two dogs to Circle C for thousands of dollars in services over just 3 years. I guess I paid a premium price for that service. I hate not feeling like I can trust a business to do right by me. I still think they are caring and provide great service, but I will most likely look elsewhere in the future. Really unfortunate.

We love Circle C Animal Hospital and have been a customer since we moved to Circle C in 2012. Our dog developed cancer last year, and we recently had to put him down. Dr. Rafferty and the entire staff were absolutely amazing throughout the process, which was an incredibly difficult one for our family. Dr. Rafferty took the time to explain our options and could not have been more sympathetic and comforting.

He even spoke directly to our 8 and 9 year old daughters in a way that helped them have a better understanding of the situation, and why we had to make the difficult decision to put him down. The entire staff is super friendly and welcoming, and I would definitely recommend them!

Circle C might not be the least expensive, but they are the best! Clean, punctual, friendly, and easy to schedule an appointment. They're always accommodating if you need to move appointments around, and they take such good care of my dog, even when she's giving them side-eye (which is every time we walk in the door.) The vet's bedside manner is loving and gentle, and she does everything she can to calm Stella down when she's nervous.

We definitely feel welcome every time we walk in the door, and I trust them implicitly. I can't imagine taking my dog anywhere else. P.S. I saw another review that said you can't take your dog in for just a nail trim.you have to have a full exam. This isn't true! You DO have to schedule it as an appointment so they know they have time for you, but mine goes in about every month and a half JUST for a nail trim. $16 and I'm out the door!

Had a very good experience with both of my cats, the regular check ups are fast and least stress possible. The service is a little bit pricey but it definitely worth every penny spend here. Thank you for a great work, professionalism and dedication!

I love this place! Charlie (my chihuahua) usually gets nervous around strangers, but not when I take him to Circle C Animal Hospital. He's greeted with his name on the welcome board and usually a treat when he gets in the exam room. The office staff are super nice and they make scheduling appointments easy with my busy schedule.

I would not recommend this vet to anyone. They are a vet who nickels & dimes and tries to find a problem to prescribe medication. I used to work with one vet at this place who is never available when I schedule appointments and they basically tell me I can't order my flea and heart worm medication unless I see one of the other doctors. My dogs always have an annual and to be treated this way is poor customer service. Don't waste your time at this vet. There are better options that are going to treat you and you pet better.

I live within walking distance of this clinic. I called to see if I could bring my dog in for a nail trim and they insisted that I set up an exam and would not allow us to come in solely for her nails. To be clear, my pup recently had her yearly exam and vaccinations, so we certainly don't need a full $50+ exam to accompany her nail trim. The exam seems excessive for something that most vet clinics offer as a simple walk-in service.

Dr Greenville has been taking care of my 4 dogs for 5+ years now. The staff is great. Always helpful (and that means helping me lift a 90 pound dog back into my car). They explain every procedure and why they are suggesting a certain procedure. They are also mindful of my budget and understand if I can't always buy or do something. Dr. Greenville never makes you feel rushed and appointments last as long as they need to. She is always very responsive by phone call also. I have been so happy to have the Circle C Animal Hospital just down the street from me!

I think they were OK, but silly expensive. Drive 5 minutes farther out and the prices are like 50% of this place. Also. I had 2 dogs, and they would always try and get me to bring them in separately instead of just lining the shots up at the same time. "Our Doctor doesn't have time to look at both dogs that day. the nearest appointment we have for 2 dogs is like 5 months out." In the end I just told them it sounded like they had enough business without mine. wasn't very impressed with a clinic that wanted me to do 2x the visits to see them, especially since it was always the vet techs who did vaccinations and anal gland expressions. And. it just struck me as a "cat" place with lots of cat people.

Good doctors, but products are really expensive, the same products are at least 60% more expensive. Epi-Klean Ear Cleaner 8oz: * Circle C Animal Hospital = $29.25 * Amazon = $10.80 Tresaderm 7.5 ml (it requires a prescription from veterinarian) * Circle C animal Hospital = $38.38 * Pet360 = $14.31

This clinic is where we have taken our critters for years, cared for by Doctor Greenville. The latest, Twins "Moose and Squirrel" have a tendency to get into things, swallow things, and get banged up 'rastlin' with each other. This is our go to clinic for not only their "adventure results", but their annual visit and anti-flea and tick meds. Absolutely trust them we do!

I'm so disappointed in this animal hospital. I have a pretty big puppy. He's 7 months and weighs 85lbs. he's always been a bit cautious but he's a happy and sweet guy. I took him here because he had an ear infection and I had already been here before and didn't mind the vet at first. 2 visits went fine. My dog didn't really like anyone there so that should have been my first clue because I have taken him to other clinics and he has been excited to see the people there.

I had a return visit set up so they could look in his ear after I had done a week of the ear-drops they had given me. My dog was pretty scared upon entering the exam room. He even hid under my legs and the table when the vet came in. The vet and tech cornered him so they could look in his ear. He was shrinking, getting smaller and smaller and more frightened as they both imposed on him.

The vet looked in one ear and then when the vet pulled his other ear back he turned his head as a warning with his mouth open. The vet then began yelling "no" at him repeatedly, which obviously scared him more. Then she stormed out of the room and got a muzzle. Clearly the vet has no idea how to deal with a scared animal. First of all cornering him and yelling is legit not the right way to handle that.

Obviously my dogs mouth warning was not acceptable but her reaction and all the signs he was giving her leading up to that should have been a clue to a trained vet that they were handling the situation inappropriately. I was so taken aback that I didn't have enough sense to grab my dog and walk out of there. Not only did she have no idea how to treat a frightened animal but she essentially reprimanded me for taking him swimming on a regular basis as well. Do your self and your furry friend a favor and don't go here.

Here's hoping I've found our new vet. Our old vet, whom we loved, is no longer in business. This morning, I came home to find my older dog with a slightly distended abdomen. He was shaking, whimpering and clearly in pain. Immediately, bloat and other scary things came to mind; I was so worried! So I called the nearest vet, which happened to be this one.

They invited me to bring him right in. Weirdly, my dog was already seeming a lot better by the end of the phone call (maybe 5 mins after I'd found him in pain), but I was still worried, so I went ahead and brought him in. Dr. Rafferty came out from surgery on another animal to give my dog a very gentle, careful exam. He took his time, was very thorough and knowledgeable, and seemed intelligent, caring and reasonable.

My dog had by this point made a complete recovery. And at the end of Dr. Rafferty's exam, he said everything seemed fine! He said it might have been gas, and told me what to watch out for in case my dog got worse again. I was really glad he didn't push me to perform further testing to make sure all was well. I tend to be a low-interventionist person, and always appreciate a vet with common sense, who doesn't just try to make more money through unnecessary testing and procedures.

Before Dr. Rafferty came in to see my dog, when I was with the staff member who initially checked my dog in, she mentioned that the vet might recommend X-rays and blood work. I told her we couldn't really afford the nearly $300 that would cost, and that we would probably decline that kind of expensive testing unless it was really merited. She seemed fine with that decision--what a relief that I didn't have to argue with her about it!--and then, of course, it wasn't even an issue, since Dr. Rafferty checked my dog out, determined he was fine, and didn't recommend further testing.

I also liked that Dr. Rafferty found a few things during his exam unrelated to the immediate issue, that he told me about so I could keep an eye on them. The staff were also very nice; I had even cried on the phone when I called in (I was so worried!), and they were very gentle and compassionate, and very kind in person as well. And the whole visit only cost $87, even though it was basically a drop-in emergency visit plus 6 months' worth of heartworm pills that I purchased since my dog was due for a refill! I was expecting it to be a lot more expensive! Thanks, Circle C Animal Hospital!

Circle C Animal Hospital We recently had put our Dog down and the staff at Circle C Animal Hospital were extremely gracious and sympathetic. They counseled us through the whole thing and provided a comforting and objective perspective helping us understand what was in the best interest of our Pup. Dr. Greenville & Dr. Silvers demonstrate a sincere passion for their professions and were perfect during what was an incredibly emotional journey. I cannot give them high enough marks and will recommend them to anyone who loves their pet. Thank you for helping us through this trying time.

Circle C is just fantastic. The place is clean. The staff is friendly--well not only friendly, but they go above and beyond to call/email me back when I have a question or concern, or an insurance claim, or a request for an Rx at an ONLINE Pet Pharmacy! I emailed them a form for an insurance claim, asking them to sign it and send it back to me so I could mail it off, and they took the time to call me JUST to let me know that they sent it off for me, and that it's all taken care of.

Absolutely fabulous! (My old vet wouldn't even call me to let me know our rabies tags were ready.) I've been vet-shopping for the past 3 months and I'm happy to say this is my (3rd and) FINAL destination. Love love love this place. PS: Sorry for all the caps. I can't figure out how to italicize in yelp.
