Capeway Veterinary Hospital At Capeway Veterinary Hospital, our mission is to restore health, prevent disease, and alleviate suffering in animals by offering high-quality veterinary services in a caring, professional environment. We consider our clients to be friends as well as customers, and we are committed to serving their pets with the same kind of genuine concern, quality care, and gentleness that we would our own pets.

The high level of communication we maintain between our clients and the direct, personal contact they have with their pets' doctor whenever they need consultation sets us apart from other veterinary hospitals.
Services
When Capeway Veterinary Hospital began in 1951, it was a one-doctor practice. Dr. Sherman and Dr. Gaudet purchased the practice in 1983 when the clinic also serviced large animals and zoo animals. In 1996, they decided to focus on small animals only and, with that specialization, the practice continued to grow.
At Capeway Veterinary Hospital, we take seriously the trust that we have been given in caring for Southcoast area pets. Our veterinarians and staff pursue continuing education to remain abreast of the latest advances and best practices in the field and strive to offer the most effective health care options to our clients.
Capeway Veterinary Hospital understands that pet owners want their pets to live longer and healthier lives and the best way to accomplish this is through preventive medicine. Our veterinarians recommend a multimodal approach to preventive pet health care including physical exams, vaccinations, regular blood work, and parasite prevention measures.
Dental health is enormously important to the overall health of all dogs and cats. Capeway Veterinary Hospital will partner with you to provide excellent pet dental care both at home and in our office. Caring for your pet's teeth and preventing periodontal disease will result in longer, healthier lives for pets.

I teared up during my first visit at Capeway because of the relief I experienced from the direct care of the techs and veterinarian. They got down on the ground to play and give snacks to my anxious dog to build her confidence up for her first appointment here. They were so patient and took the time tk really listen to her concerns and overall well being. The recommendations they made just make complete sense and it blows my mind I didn’t hear them from my dogs previous vet. Not to mention, I wasn’t made to feel guilty about spaying my dog after her first heat like I was at her previous providers. They did everything they could to make my dog comfortable during her exam and also made me feel safe, heard and validated. By the end she was playing with them and her whole demeanor changed to playful and confident. I’m so over the moon happy I changed my dogs doctor to Capeway. They come highly recommended from me and my animals. I can’t wait to have my other animals changed over as well

I have been going to Capeway since my dog Jerrico was 8-weeks-old (he is now 3.5) and they have been nothing short of amazing. My dog has had some complicated medical procedures (heart worm treatment and a stomach surgery) and they do whatever they can to make the both of us feel comfortable. Every person that you interact with here is friendly, courteous and is up front and honest.

They treat every animal like their own. Jerrico has not had pleasant procedures, therefore he usually doesn't like going to the vet. It takes me about 15/20 to physically get him in, but once he's in they always greet him with kindness, love and a toy/treats. I've since moved away from Capeway but will ALWAYS remain there. The way that they treat me and my dog is unmatched and I will commute here forever knowing to expect such pristine treatment from them. Thank you Capeway!

Just had my first visit. Was seen promptly on time. Dr Walsh and Rachel were so friendly, attentive, focused. I particularly liked the interactive nature of the dialogue where I had input into what tests and vaccines were essential and what optional. As a physician I liked that they addressed both in the visit and the billing just what I had come there for and nothing extraneous.. I enthusiastically recommend Dr Walsh, Rachel and the Hospital.

Very upset with Dr. Jays bedside manner and etiquette. My family was told yesterday that our dog is "very unhealthy", "this is the beginning of a serious problem" for our dog and "I am leaning towards cancer". The doctor said they felt a mass. The doctor also said that our dog has a heart murmur. Today my dog was taken to another animal hospital to get an ultrasound and x rays.

Not a sign of cancer. No heart murmur. Everyone said he was very healthy. Doctor said no signs of any cancer. He is thriving. It is important to not share scary information like that with patients unless you have facts. If there are no facts backing your information you should not be using words such as cancer. Our dog is a part of our family. I understand not everyone can be sensitive in hard situations like that, but what my family had experienced was horrible.

To spend $1500 on testing when you are told your dog most likely has cancer and for him to be completely healthy is just wrong. That is all. No need for a response back from the owner. Just want to share this information with the public so that you don't get yourself into a terrible situation like this. Steer clear of this facility. Our pets are our family and they should be treated as such.

I wish everyone's pets great health and safety. I wouldn't wish a situation like this upon anyone. Ever. Very very very sad situation that could have easily been prevented with better training on how to treat customers.

My bulldog and I were greeted by the nicest receptionist. She scanned all our paperwork without any hesitation. Our vet tech, Alexis, was so wonderful with Lacey. She got right on the floor with her and made her feel very comfortable. And she had great treats for her. She is a rescue and her nails were in very rough shape.she now can walk so much better. Alexis and the doctor took their time and didn't rush through the exam. Was very happy that I took Lacey there

Insane pricing! I've gone to a couple other places over the years across MA and this is by far the most expensive. No matter what I always leave there with something extra that I didn't think I needed. Also, has to be the most expensive version of the product available. They charge astronomical fees for services that are normally included with the fee of check ups at other vets.

I don't understand why they charge so much. priority should be the animals. obviously you need to get paid but all these other places I've gone to thrive in business and finances and are much more affordable. they could be more successful financially without upselling, it turns away a lot of business. If you have money to blow then this place may be okay for you however, even then I'm not necessarily impressed with the staff.

The two doctors I have come across have been friendlier than receptionist. I had a friend warn me of how they treated her nervous dog by dragging her but based on the positive reviews others gave I decided to give them a few chances. probably will not be back. I checked out other negative reviews and turns out they're all the same complaints. To give you an idea, I paid over $150 more here than a vet appointment elsewhere and mind you, way more was done at the other vet. Try to look elsewhere.

My husband and I are new to the fur baby world. Our friends & neighbors recommended Capeway Vet. Our 5 month old shihtzu has been coming here for a few months and so far we are very pleased with the place. The staff are very welcoming, friendly & informative. We have Dr. Vargas and we are so pleased with her. She is patient, knowledgeable and has been so kind in answering all of our questions.

I highly recommend this place because the staff is very friendly and they made us feel welcomed. Alicia Walsh was the best with my Sparky. He loved her very much and it's not that many people that he will warm up to. She was just amazing and answered all my questions and her assistant was sweet and friendly as well. I'm glad that I chose this place for Sparky!

I am very sad to say I had to leave the only Vet Hospital my dog every knew. I made an appointment for her annual physical for a Monday at 6:30pm. Only to show up to be told my appointment (made a week prior) was cancelled. No phone call was made. No text was received. It was cancelled because I did not confirm? WHAT? I was told there are too many "NO SHOWS" What about loyal customers like me who have not missed an appointment in 13 years. Unbelievable!

There was no one in the place - to add insult to injury. They could have offered to squeeze me in and did not. It was a freezing cold January night. Furthermore, after speaking to the manager, who I asked for an apology and recognition of the inconvenience of the policy, she refused. I am completely horrified by the customer service and lack of loyalty. I will never darken their door again.

I have never had a vet that has gone above and beyond to care so much. The other day I received a beautiful poem mailed to me in honor of my baby having to be put down. The staff is amazing, caring, and honestly I couldn't have asked for a better experience for how sad it had to be. Thank you so much. Reeses and I thank you. Sincerely Bree.

I would like to thank Capeway staff and Dr.Walsh. They treated my 14 year old Dexter. They tried their best. Unfortunately I had to say goodbye to my friend. The staff was super supportive and attentive. It was a very emotional time having to make that decision and Capeway made it as painless as possible. Again thank you Capeway. Me and Dexter were very grateful for your help. Highly recommend Capeway for your fur babies.

This is the best vet in the area. The staff is lovely and they genuinely care. When we had to put down one of our kitties who has been going there for a while - the staff all knew her name and gave their condolences. Specifically, Dr Oakham has been awesome. She is very kind and caring and has been very thorough in listening and responding to our questions and concerns. She's timely in getting back to us and is strategic in the tests she orders. It's clear she is very knowledgeable!

Everyone is so nice. I recently learned my cat has cancer. Dr. Rocha was so compassionate and gave me all of the information for me to make my decisions. He followed up with me a few days later to check on Sasha.
I have been going there for 9 years and have interacted with 4 different doctors with the same positive results. The support staff and technicians are top notch! I highly recommend Capeway!
