Dr. Jennifer Howard
Medical Director and Practice Owner
Dr. Jennifer Howard, DVM, was born in a rural town near Toronto, Ontario. In 1995, she graduated from Bishops University and in 2003 she graduated from the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine. As a child, her devotion to animals developed through the love of her family pets. Dr. Howard always worked and put herself through school while holding jobs including farm work and assisting local veterinarians.
Dr. Howard has experience working in both large (Equine) and small animal medicine. In 2010, Dr. Howard founded Boulevard Animal Hospital as a life long dream. She has directed it's growth into a"state of the art" facility for medical, surgical and dental treatment, ultrasound, x-ray and endoscopic diagnostics, emergency medicine and critical care, and grooming.
Dr. Howard lives in Athens, GA with her family that includes 2 nutty dogs, 2 wonderful cats, and 3 Horses. She is also a member of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) and the Feline Practitioners Association. In addition to general practice her interests include diagnostic ultrasound examination of the heart and abdomen.
When Dr. Howard is not busy at work she is an avid equestrian who adores time with her family, loves hiking, cooking and generally being out of doors.

It came time to say goodbye to my sweet senior cat, and during the pandemic, I was looking for someplace where I could be with him in his final moments. By that point Boulevard Animal Hospital was actually not allowing owners inside the building during most appointments, but allowed me to be with him to say goodbye. Not only that, but all the staff I encountered were so caring and kind, and helped me feel reassured about the decision I had to make for my boy.
It may seem strange to leave a glowing review about a heartbreaking day, but that is what an impact the hospital staff made-- they helped it be a slightly less-awful day than it might have been. When it comes time for my remaining cat's next vet appointment, I am going to see about switching him over to here, because it is clear that everyone who works there really cares about animals, making sure owners are informed to make decisions for their pets' well-being, and values the bond between pets and their people.

Two stray kittens landed in my boyfriend and I's lap. We took them to Boulevard Animal Hospital, because they were the only vet that could take the kittens in ASAP. They have become the biggest blessing in our lives. One of the kittens, unfortunately, did not make it and the entire staff mailed us a card with words of encouragement on it. The other kitten, Athena, recently turned 3 months old. Boulevard Animal Hospital has become a second home to our sweet Athena and they are just as crazy about her as we are. I highly recommend this animal hospital.

If you live in the Athens area and you have a pet, take them here. I interacted with three different clinic staff and each and every one of them were kind and seemed happy and eager to help. Dr. Harriet Daugherty was the kindest and most informative doctor I've ever seen, and that includes my own people doctors! My dog seemed like he actually enjoyed his visit to the vet, so I truly cannot recommend this place enough!

I made the switch to Boulevard from another veterinary hospital in town about a year ago when my dog had an allergic reaction to her internal spay stitches. Boulevard went above and beyond with pain management, and she healed quickly and comfortably. Since then, I've been consistently impressed with how knowledgeable the staff are. They are friendly and answer all of my questions; it is clear that they are following new scientific publications. They have been excellent about fitting us in for appointments and the prices are comparable to most clinics. I highly recommend Boulevard.

The vets here are incredibly compassionate and knowledgeable. After a disappointing visit to another vet, we were absolutely floored with the difference in treatment given to us here. It was like night-and-day. We never felt rushed, even though it was so late already. Procedures were explained to us in detail before going ahead and applying it. Questions were answered in full.
This dog is reactive and terrified of vets but everything was handled professionally and humanely. Thank you so much Ellie and staff for your kindness towards Happy. Thank you for making time for us even on short notice. You were not afraid to give us honest options and opinions even when the outlook was grim, and we can make a better decision for her because of it. I only accompanied Happy and her owner.but I was touched with how this place treated both of them. I'll be bringing my own dog to Boulevard from now on. Amazing!

We brought our babies, Sasha and Twain, to Boulevard last Saturday. They went out of their way to ensure that we had a great experience by putting us in our room rather than making us wait in the lobby because Sasha does not like other dogs. They kept them distracted with biscuits through everything and neither dog seemed too stressed. In addition, they called to check up on them, which made me feel like they really care about their patients!

I took my dogs here through college and law school. The entire staff is absolutely awesome. My dog started having seizures, and they explained that we would reach a point in all the testing where things would get really expensive but would not guarantee answers. My vet (whose name I cannot remember) never tried to push unnecessary procedures and truly listened to everything I said and asked.
I felt so comfortable there and trusted her opinion. We eventually reached the point where the next line of testing would be over a thousand dollars. My vet and I agreed to stop there and see if her seizures progressed. That was about 4 years ago, and she has gone 11 months without a seizure. While they are still sad when they happen, she did not force us to medicate my otherwise healthy dog or pay for expensive procedure that wouldn't have told us anything new.
My other dog had some weight issues, and they were great about letting us come in periodically (for free) to weigh her and make sure she was on the right track. I've since graduated and am SO disappointed to leave this office. No one will ever be as good as this office!

I love Boulevard. I have five pets that all frequent Dr. Howard's office! I lost my senior Shepherd in December, and the staff was so amazing. I will never switch vets and recommend them to everyone! The staff is very friendly, and Dr. Howard has been the best vet for my senior cat. I can't imagine going anywhere else.

Dr. Howard and Dr. Cooper are fantastic! Everyone is so helpful and genuinely concerned for your pet's wellbeing. They are always up front about pricing and I never feel pressured or shamed when I decline or delay something. James loves coming and gets the excited when we pull in. Incredible vet's office. I recommend Boulevard any chance I get! The staff is so friendly and you can see they truly care about your pets. My boxer had her second lumpectomy this past Friday and since then they have called three times just to check on her. If you have a pet, you need to be using Boulevard Animal Hospital.
