APA Of Missouri Healthy pets make for happy families. We offer ongoing wellness and prevention services, including needs-based financial assistance. Anyone can learn new tricks. Our education programs were designed to help pets and their humans grow and thrive at any age. We're looking for 1,000 people to walk 100 miles each this year-all to benefit the APA Adoption Center.

Raise money, win swag and help bring pets and people together. It's an awesome way to get involved and celebrate the 100th birthday of the APA! Alongside regular adoption services, APA provides temporary care to the pets of those experiencing domestic violence.
Services
The APA is dedicated to bringing people and pets together, advancing humane education, and creating programs beneficial to the human/animal bond. To support this vision, we've adopted the tenets of a socially conscious animal welfare organization. That means we balance our commitment to animals with the St. Louis community, and consider the impact of our programs on the lives of both humans and pets.
We're glad you asked. There's a whole lot behind this tiny moment. Trust, appreciation and hearts full of love go into each boop you share with your pet. And thanks to the staff, volunteers, fosters, adopters and donors to the APA Adoption Center, there are a lot of boops happening all over the area-and beyond.
From partnering with organizations that help keep people and pets together in times of crisis, to promoting pet welfare causes, Purina works to ensure their support makes a positive, meaningful difference. We care deeply for pets, too, which is why the APA is proud to be a Purina partner, feeding all of our pets only high-quality Purina pet food and working together to make our community a better place for pets and people. As the leading funder of animal welfare in North America, PetSmart Charities helps transform the lives of pets and those who love them.
We don't mind being known for our pets, but we're thrilled to work with dedicated humans who turn their passion into action every day with us. An experienced fundraiser, advocate, and healthcare leader, Sarah Javier joined the APA in 2016 following her lifelong passion for helping animals. She received her master's in public policy administration from UMSL and fosters our culture of compassionate care while promoting animal welfare throughout the region as a member of the St. Louis Pet Lover Coalition.

I adopted my cat from here in late January, and it was the best decision of my life! I love this place and all of the support I have received. I appreciate the clinic there as well and appreciate the friendliness of employees at the APA. Thank you for making my life so much better!

I had been wanting to adopt another cat for a while, so when my husband asked me if I wanted one, we made plans within the week! I looked online and found Boy, and fell in love with him. We went to the APA and left with him 45 minutes later! I'm so glad we found him; he has been living with us for just a short few hours and we can already tell he was meant to be with us.

The process itself was very easy, and I was impressed with how clean the facility was. The staff clearly cares deeply for the animals, because they all seemed very comfy and relaxed in their little cat condos--you could tell they weren't stressed just from being there, unlike some shelters. Overall, it was a great experience, and we're so happy that Boy is already so comfortable with us!

Adopted two sweet girls from here. They made the process very easy and quick. Because of Covid, everyone was wearing a mask and you weren't allowed to walk around freely inside. Instead you went online to see what pet you wanted to adopt, then got a call to verify who you wanted to adopt and then paid over the phone. After that you went to the APA and was met by an employee at a table set up right inside the front door.

We were able to get the pups quickly without any issues. Everyone was friendly and took Covid precautions. Would adopt from again, but currently still loving my 2 pups from here.

This was my first visit to this shelter. It was very clean and well-maintained. Lots of staff present that were helpful and seemed happy. I saw dogs, cats and rabbits. We didn't end up adopting today but it is definitely a place I would be happy to return to in the future. There is an accessibility issue you should be aware of. The lot drops off sharply from the street so the parking lot is at an angle - creating a slope to the front door.

I think it should be manageable for most, but it is significant. None of the doors are automatic so it may require assistance for some to enter the building and access the animal areas.

A friend and I went late afternoon recently to check out adoptable adult dogs. No appt necessary, post Covid, was convenient. Unfortunately, the kennels are being renovated, and we were not allowed to walk through. Good for the animals : I was disappointed. They do have a tablet displaying the dog's profiles. They brought out Vincent for a visit upon request.

We had a good time getting to know each other. A tech was present to answer any questions we had. This was my first stop on my journey to adopting a rescued pet. Good step, good experience. 4 Stars!

We adopted a dog here. We loved this place. The people were kind. They knew the animals down to the smallest idiosyncrasy. They returned my call promptly. APA is middle of the road as far as adoption fees ($200). However, they keep a tight ship over there. So if that's how that money is spent, then the value is there. Worth it. They also sometimes have adoption specials (on pricing).

We got our little monster, Pollux, for $25 during a promotion sponsored by Bissell. They also offer a "foster to adopt" program too. Call them and ask about it. Anyway, after Pollux is trained up in a few months, we will be back at the APA to pick up a friend/brother for him - obviously hoping for a look-alike, but not necessarily. We just want to bring home another dog to love. If I could, , I'd adopt them all. They're ALL good dogs. Anyway, good job APA. Thank you! Ps and btw, in the pic, Pollux is on the right.

I am so impressed this this place! Came on a weekend, only place I could find that was open and allowing people to view pets without an appointment or filling out an application first. They have the most wonderful staff and a super easy process for adoption. They have a special right now; $25 for adoption includes all current shots, neuter/spay, a bag of food, a bag of treats, 30 days of pet insurance or $10 amazon card, 14 days of vet care, and microchipped.

Also gave us a really nice padded fleece cat pad-I about fainted! Plus, my 3 year old loved looking at all the animals, and being allowed to visit with the kitten (without being hurried along) in the visit room. We could not be happier with their service. The animals are well taken care of, and every staff member appeared to really love the pets. It was a great experience, we really cannot thank you enough! PS-Nicely done marketing department-This bag I got is hysterical!
