From Our Website

We appreciate your efforts in following our new protocols, and your patience, as they are always subject to change! At Ankeny Animal and Avian Clinic, our mission is to improve lives: the lives of our patients, our clients, and our employees. Our goal is to strengthen the human-animal bond by providing unmatched client service and patient care. We do this through open and honest communication, compassion, enthusiasm, and teamwork. We welcome input and feedback from our clients as well as our team members and are constantly working to improve.

You and your pet get a different experience at our clinic, thanks to our Fear Freeapproach. Fear Free is a certification program that teaches a gentler way of approaching ourpatients, in order to decrease fear, anxiety, and stress while here. When our patientsexperience these feelings, it causes a lasting unpleasant experience, which they remember atfuture visits, and in turn, causes a more fearful response at future visits. It can also causeadverse health effects, shorter life spans, and falsely alter lab results.

Proper grooming, bathing, and nail trimming keeps your pet comfortable and keeps their skin and hair in good, healthy condition. Our groomer Sarah uses the latest grooming techniques to help your pet not only look their best but feel their best, too. She provides a personal consultation when your pet visits to ensure you are getting the look you want for your pet. We recommend that grooming be introduced early on in your pet's life to best acclimate their pet with the process. This helps reduce fear and nervousness during grooming procedures.

For the past several years, we have been excited to offer our clients Companion LaserTherapy. Therapeutic laser treatments provide a non-invasive, pain-free, surgery-free, drug-freetreatment which is used to treat a variety of conditions and can be performed in conjunction withother treatment protocols, such as medication. Whether your pet is rehabilitating from trauma orinjury, healing from wounds, or simply aging, your companion can benefit from this innovativeapproach to treating pain and inflammation.
