At Animal Hospital of Onslow County, our in-house laboratory enables our experienced veterinarians to perform diagnostic testing that helps us get a complete picture of your pet's health. Our goal is to provide the most effective medication and pain management strategy for every pet that is suffering with pain.
Acupuncture is a centuries old holistic therapeutic technique that has been used to stimulate healing and provide pain relief. Animal Hospital of Onslow County is pleased to offer the treatment option of veterinary acupuncture to pet owners in Jacksonville, Midway Park, and Hubert, North Carolina.
A fact commonly acknowledged by veterinarians is that one of the most neglected aspects of pet health is dental care. Many pet owners are surprised to find that regular dental screenings and oral hygiene can actually add years to the life of their pet. At Animal Hospital of Onslow County, we offer the most up to date dental cleaning and polishing procedures for dogs and cats.
If you have ever had a pet suffering from skin issues and allergic reactions, you know that dogs and cats can be just as miserable as people who have allergies. At Animal Hospital of Onslow County, allergic responses are some of the more common conditions that we see on a regular basis. Instead of typical human reactions, however, companion pets are more likely to display their hypersensitivity through itching, scratching, biting, licking, hair loss, scabs, or dandruff.Classic triggers of allergy symptoms include food, flea saliva, dust, mites, plant and grass pollens, molds and fungi.
An important diagnostic tool that we use at Animal Hospital of Onslow County is digital radiography. Diagnostic tools such as x-rays are essential to veterinary clinics because our pets cannot communicate to us in words and tell us when something is wrong. Additionally, a physical exam does not always provide all the information a veterinarian needs to determine the overall health of your pet. Digital radiography enables us to safely and quickly assess the status of injuries or diseases that may be affecting your pet.

Great service and friendly staff. They took my cat Oscar in on a last minute notice and took care of the situation in a timely manner.

I moved here in Sep 2020 and shortly after adopted a cocker spaniel puppy. I started taking her here and have since adopted a lab puppy and began bringing him here as well. I'm not satisfied with the service I've received here or the pricing. On my last bill it was $163 for a puppy vaccines. They charged $63 for an exam, the puppy needs multiple shots but they have been adding fees for needles disposal and other erroneous charges.

The vet was very rude to me and so were here staff. I was being friendly, smiling and trying to be social. They made me wear a mask while none of them did. The vet told me my puppy needs to be bathed. I just took him to the groomer. He is a puppy, he literally rolls in the yard and acts crazy. He has just rolled around before we went there. I groom my dogs regularly and treat them like babies. I am looking for a new vet now.

I'm not at all one to leave reviews but I am very upset with my visit today. I brought my 12 year old dog in for a quality of life check, and expressed to them all of my concerns. Three of my main concerns were a tumor on her ribcage, her whimpering when she laid down, and the way she's been eating. After they looked her over they told me her teeth and gums were fine, and that she had arthritis, which explained the whimpering.

He pointed out a different mass on her chest and told me it the "tumor" on her was just a cyst and they drained it. I had to point out the rock hard tumor to the vet, to which he replied that he hadn't seen it. He then went and got a needle and stuck it in her tumor while we were all still in the lobby. After looking at the cells, he told me it was cancer and had likely spread from somewhere else.

I asked for X-rays to see if it had spread to her lungs (that had happened with a previous boxer I had) and the vet told me there was no point, it wouldn't tell us much. My concerns were dismissed and I was told to basically wait until she stops eating to be concerned. Upon checking out I was blindsided by the cost. I was initially told it was a $50 exam, and the only additional thing I had authorized was a rabies shot.

They did not discuss any additional costs with me before examining her tumor, so I was very surprised when they told me my total was $265. I called another vet for a second opinion based on what I was told and they asked for her medical records from today's visit. After sending them over, the other vet said she was confused by the notes as they were contradictory.

She said that the first thing they would have done is recommend X-rays to see if the tumors had spread to her lungs. Also listed in the notes was that they found a growth in her mouth and recommended dental, but that I had declined. No one at the Animal Hospital of Onslow County told me there were any concerns with her mouth, I was told that her teeth and gums were great.

When I called back for clarification, the tech on the phone said she looked at my dog's gums and they were receding and that she recommended dental. When I asked why I was never told this and that the vet told me differently, she said there must've been a miscommunication. I'm very upset. I love my dog, she is family. I took her in for concerns about her health and well-being, as she is a very old dog and I don't want her to suffer or be in pain.

I left Animal Hospital of Onslow County upset, confused and with more questions. The vet notes were very inconsistent and communication with the staff was just as unclear as her notes. I would not recommend this place to anyone, and I will not be back.

Dr. Altman and his staff were great. Very professional. He took time to come out and talk to me to let me know exactly what was going on with my pup, the different ways to proceed and also what I had to do to move forward with an appropriate treatment plan. Will be returning. Quality pupper care.

Really like doctor Corey and Erica, but ultimately left this practice because they still aren't letting Clients come in with their Fur babies. I understand the need for safety but some animals do much better when they have their owners with them especially if they're hurting and in pain. I think it's been long enough that if everyone wears a mask safety can still be priority.

Took my dog Chip here today and had an awesome experience. Although my pup can be a little iffy of strangers, he was treated well and the workers were patient with him. Service was quick and pricing is reasonable. Will be bringing chippy here again :

I've called on two separate occasions with emergencies for my dog/s needing surgery and both times the receptionist was rude and wouldn't even let me finish explaining the situation before cutting me off saying "nope we can't get you in no way". I've come here for regular puppy visits prior to these and have had no issue so I'm not sure if it's a new worker, new management or whatever but very very rude and disappointing. Will not be bringing ANY of my dogs here again.

Very compassionate and understanding! Doc went out of her way to make time to perform a thoracentesis on Ben, so he could breath easier. My impression is both docs my Ben has seen care about him and are not driven by outside motives!!

We switched vets a few years ago from another local vet after realizing the monthly plan we were on was super expensive and we weren’t impressed by the care our dogs were given. We found Animal Hospital and have been much happier with our care and cut our vet bill in half! Animal Hospital takes the time and listens to our concerns. We have co-dependent dogs and they’re always accommodating when I request appointment times together. We have never once regretted switching vets!

We have taken our dogs here a few time for routine immunizations. This time we had to take my sweet older dog in to be put down. I called to make the appointment and the receptionist (Shantell I believe) was so sweet and compassionate. When we went in for the actual appointment the staff was amazing. They gave us all the time we needed to say goodbye and answered every question I had.

They were outstanding. I don't know how they made it happen but it truly seemed like we were the only ones in the entire clinic. Today we received a handwritten card from Dr McQuiddy. We are very grateful for the staff and how they handled a very difficult situation.

So caring about both your pet and you, NOT about money. He doesn't do senseless expensive tests or treatments and wants to help you and your pet in the most cost effective way possible. He takes the time to sit down with you and explain things and your best treatment options. All the other staff is wonderful as well.

Had a bitoif an emergency with my cat who was suddenly straining to pee. I called & they were able to get me an appt immediately. Dr. Corry was not only incredibly nice but was able to get my cat Odin to pee with absolutely no issue & Odin barely even budged. We walked out with new cat food & the ability in less than an hour it was soooo nice.

He actually helped me with another one of my male cats who has the same blockage issue & was able to help be during a late night ER visit with Zeus. All in all great visit, great helpful staff, & great Vet.

Literally one of the best veterinary practices I have ever encountered. My dogs are my babies and I am so glad I found a doctor for them so close to my home and so wonderful. The entire staff is knowledgeable, compassionate, and understanding. I love that they have walk in hours when something unexpected pops up. One of my dogs needed an unexpected surgery during a walk in appointment and it was done that day without hesitation. As long as I live in Jacksonville I will only bring my pets here.

An emergency with our dog arose over the weekend. He was sick, not eating and very uncomfortable. First thing Monday, I walked in with no appointment and the entire staff went immediately to work to address his needs. The front staff got us back into a treatment room with no delay. The vet tech took the details that transpired over the weekend and documented everything for the vet.

He took our dogs vitals and was gentle and effective. The vet was through and completed diagnostics with no delay. He identified the medical issue and began steps to address our dogs needs before we left. The medications he prescribed were spot on and our dog began to show signs of improvement by the afternoon. By the end of day 2, he is back to his former self and showing signs of getting his strength back.

We hadn’t had a dog in more than 12 years and I’m so pleased that we stumbled on to these great folks when he needed a rabies update. It really paid off when the situation became urgent. I couldn’t be more appreciative of this great group and highly recommend them to anyone with a pet. They aren’t new and fancy with their facilities, but they are up to date with their equipment and over the top with their level of care, from the folks up front to the techs in the back and especially the vets. Thank you for being there when we needed you.

Love everything about them! I switched vets due to the lack of care about my fur babies. I was recommended by so many of my friends to Animal Hospital. 100% would recommend to any fur parent out there.

My dog Charley was a first time visitor but was treated like he was a long lost family member. We came in on a Friday afternoon with a mysterious growth between his paw pads. Dr. Paley made time to perform surgery and remove. Fortunately after pathology it was benign. Glad to have found a Trusted Vet home for when we are at Emerald Isle.
