  • I would recommend this business

Dr. Simon, unlike so many other vets, is mindful and compassionate. He remembers her (my cat) and always asks me a lot of questions about her and really seems to know what is going on and what to try. He did not recommend a myriad of diagnostics on my 13 year old cat, but a step-by-step approach to care. Highly recommend him!

Had an appointment last week and the reno at AHOC is FAB! Looks like all the galleries in Chelsea! I have been going here pretty much since they opened..a life of 4 dogs and counting. Dr. Simon IS a no nonsense person...the good news is that he does not trump up unnecessary procedures/testing for billing purposes and for those who want warm and fuzzy, they may not act like your dog/cat IS the most adorable thing they have ever seen. I am happy for the no nonsense appraoch AND the occasional reprimand for ignoring symptons or not follwing instructions. Dr. Simon has been there from neuter/spaying to euthanasia. We are lifers.

  • I would recommend this business

I lived in Chelsea for a long time and been going to Dr Simon for over 8 yrs with my 2 cats and dog. I read some of the reviews and never had any issues. There is always a veterinarian there during appointment hours. Dr Simon always explains to me if and why my cats need blood tests, he never gives them unnecessary vaccines especially now since they are older. The technicians are caring and always helpful. Same with the receptionist. I always get reminders in the mail for check ups or vaccines which I like, so I don't have to worry about missing anything. When I took my dog there for the first time Dr Simon took his time and explained puppy vaccines behavior issues etc. and I was able to read up on it on their website which was very helpful. Having 3 pets I am very aware of the cost but we do live in NYC I know my cats and dog are in good hands which what matters to me the most.

Customer Testimonials

I am so thankful for Dr. Simon and his staff. They are wonderful to Lomax and so kind and professional to me. I highly recommend!

Dr Simon is wonderful! He's always taken very good care of my Scrappy. The entire staff is helpful and we can't wait to see the new renovations.

I have always felt that Dr. Simon is not only incredibly effective as a vet, but that he genuinely likes the animals who are his patients. I currently have two cats under his care and initially had a third who passed away. He has always been very clear and informative with the course of treatment in each case when I've had to bring someone in. Right now, he has a great staff as well and they make an overall fantastic team. There have, in the past, been a couple of partner vets who were capable but I didn't feel as comfortable with. But Dr. Simon himself is the best.

Our most recent visit was very good. I always find Dr. Simon to be very knowledgable - caring - and patient. I always have pleasant experience with any members of his staff and everything is explained to me. I really think that my most recent visits with Little Squeak have helped us to take better care of her

I have been delighted and impressed with the service and attitude and medical attention my cat, Ed Feder, received in the Animal Hospital of Chelsea. Dr. Simon is an exceptional vet with exceptional attitude and compassion to animals. The supporting staff have been very friendly and helpful and attentive. Highly recommended.

Both the vet and the assistant were extremely helpful and acommodating getting an urgent care appointment for my dog on the morning I called. The vet was lovely with my dog, gentle an caring and was good at explaining everything to me, including follow up care.

We cant imagine going anywhere else. dr simon is so knowledgeable about bulldogs. after going to Dr simon for five year i have to say we know that dr Simon is not only is the best but also truly cares about animals. My puppy had demodectic mange and most of my friends dogs that had this were recommended to do all kinds of harsh treatments. Dr. Simon suggested we do nothing and that most of us want to do something to treat it but that he wanted to wait for it to get better first on its own. and it did! Most vets I feel would do unnecessary things to rack up the bill but Dr. Simon is always honest and does what really is best for the animals.

We were referred by another bulldog owner and actually switched from another vet nearby. I love my bullbabies and they are healthy and happy thanks to animal hospital of Chelsea!

I have been taking my small dog here his whole life - at this point over 8 years. This is a no frills vet. The office is modest and dated. The staff is small (although I have never found scheduling to be a problem). All of which keep the pricing competitive for a NYC vet.

I have found Dr. Simon to be great for us. For example, how I first found him: when other vets tried to put my doctor under to have his baby teeth extracted in surgery (high risk and high cost for a puppy), Dr. Simon suggested a dog bone and a tug and that took care of it. He has a common sense approach. We have come here for both routine and urgent care and left confident every time.

We use Fear Free techniques with every pet to reduce and even eliminate anxiety associated with veterinary visits. Our veterinarians and support staff take tremendous pride in their commitment to bettering the lives of our patients and their people. Dr. Ilana Yablonovich grew up in Englewood, New Jersey. Your pet's teeth and gums are vital to their health and well-being. Dogs and cats use their mouths for just about everything: eating, playing, exploring, and even protecting themselves! When they have discomfort from dental disease, it can take a toll on not only their health, but their quality of life. At Firefly Veterinary Hospital in Chelsea, we emphasize preventive dental care to put a stop to dental disease and help your pet maintain a healthy mouth for life. A teeth cleaning procedure requires general anesthesia for your pet's safety (and because most cats and dogs won't tolerate a hand in their mouth for very long!).

At Firefly Veterinary Hospital in Chelsea, we deliver emergency vet care during our regular business hours. We know that speed and efficiency are key in urgent care, and we work to quickly triage pets and get them in for treatment right away. Some emergencies are pretty obvious, while others are much more subtle. If any of these situations occur, or your pet exhibits any of these symptoms, please contact us or one of our referral 24/7 emergency hospitals. If you're concerned about your pet for any reason whatsoever, don't hesitate to give us a call at (212) 243-3020 and we'll do everything we can to help.

Laser therapy is a pain management option for dogs and cats that delivers non-invasive, drug-free, and completely safe pain relief. It is a wonderful option for pets who deal with persistent pain from chronic conditions. While pain medication is very safe for the short-term, there are risks of side effects in the long-term. Laser therapy allows pets with chronic pain to lessen their pain medication dosages or even eliminate them! At Firefly Veterinary Hospital, we're proud to offer our patients in Chelsea this innovative pain management modality.
