Chemotherapy refers to the use of anti-cancer drugs given intravenously, orally, or subcutaneously that will circulate throughout the body to attack cancer cells. With certain types of cancers, such as lymphoma, the first line of therapy is chemotherapy because the disease has a high chance of being present systemically at the time of diagnosis.
For almost half a century, systemic therapy of cancer has been dominated by the use of cytotoxic chemotherapeutics. Most of these drugs are DNA-damaging agents that are designed to inhibit or kill rapidly dividing cells. They are often administered in single doses or short courses of therapy at the highest possible dosage without causing life-threatening levels of toxicity.
All ultrasound imaging is done in house. Our ultrasound has digital capabilities allowing easy transfer of data to referring veterinarians, other specialists including a board certified radiologist who is available for additional interpretation if necessary.
Computed Tomography (CT Scanning) is an advanced medical tool that is not commonly available in veterinary practices. Computed Tomography is defined as the "presentation of anatomical information generated by computer synthesis of X-ray data into a video display." CT images are made by rotating an X-ray tube around a human or animal while multiple exposures are recorded on an array of X-ray detectors. The X-ray beam is narrow, transversing a very small volume or "slice" of tissue as it moves through an arc of 360o.

Everyone was very helpful and kind while my dog was going through her cancer treatment. I highly recommend them.

I firmly believe that if you can't make someone feel better, at the very least, don't make them feel worse and this is exactly what our experience was. After 6 months and close to $10,000 spent on out beautiful Golden Retrievers care, he passed suddenly 4 days after receiving a chemo treatment, i.e., he was under the active care of Dr. Obradovich at the time.

While we knew his condition was terminal, the timing was unexpected and we were devastated. Shockingly, we never received any follow up phone call, email or text from Dr. O, nothing. This lack of acknowledgment of our loss, lack of any show of compassion or care, lack of interest in what the details leading up to his final moments were after she had been his primary provider for so long, compounded our grief and made us feel he was really just a number for them.

To be fair, we did receive a card signed by 5 of the techs/office staff a month later and this was much appreciated, but it was in no way a replacement for some type of communication from Dr. Obradovich. Think hard about the type of relationship you want to have with the person taking care of your beloved pet and family member. This was a terrible experience for us in far more ways than just the obvious of having to go through it in the first place.

They deserve zero stars! That would be accurate! WARNING! WARNING! Do not go here! If your pet isn't better by Friday, they don't care! You need to get them out! I guess cancer has weekends off. Because this center does. You get to transport your ill pet to an actual hospital! So do not use this center! Surgeon does not even review scans or ultrasounds.

They over-charge and take no responsibility for any mistakes. A completely wrong diagnosis and a failed surgery! What a horrible shameful money grabbing center! Do not bring your pet here! Take them to an actual animal hospital who cares for the whole animal. They specialize in removing tumors at a huge cost and no consideration for the animal's well being. The only interest in pressing for surgery to make money.

I'm so sadden to think we put trust into this AWFUL place. ABSOLUTELY No bedside manners and mainly just money hungry! Our 8yr old french bulldog had developed a huge mass in his abdomen. We went here to get it diagnosed. Upon X-ray and Ultrasound they discovered the mass was on the spline and needed to be removed for Miggy to live a longer life. Well come surgery day mid surgery we get a call that it's not on the spline it's on the prostate. how could they get it so wrong?

Well the surgeon informed us she didn't even look at the ultrasound before opening our precious family pet! Well Miggy survived surgery but not without major life threatening complications! During surgery they sliced his bladder and he has rips all through his urethra and needs a catheter in at all time for the next 2 weeks! The doctor was completely unprofessional she was extremely rude when she called and informed us that it be an extra 5K for another to surgery to fix the bladder she sliced!

If we didn't pay the money then we could euthanize miggy! I tell you that what we went through was DISGUSTING and DISHEARTENING. The surgeon was fumbling her words when questioned for her actions and tried so hard to cover what she did! You would think your dog going to a vet or cancer vet he or she would receive the best care because a veterinarian office should be surround by people who love animals.

I beg to differ about this place. They just want more and more money! you will receive a very very sick dog at the end of it all! My situation was completely a botched situation! MY dog was botched and they surgeon knows it too! I would never think our dog would come home on a catheter and NEVER once was that discussed as a possible outcome! Maybe when they diagnose a dog they should inform u that they will ask more than the max estimation for your dogs surgery and you can't get your dog back unless u pay it!

It's been an absolute Nightmare for my family and the lack of communication and empathy is awful. To think they can go on as practice after what they did to my dog is repulsive! I Beg u TO NEVER go to this place!

Very knowledgeable vet. When I think about how to describe this center, nothing I write can adequately describe the awesome care here. I hope you never need their services, but if you do, know that you have provided your furry family member the best care.

Be prepared to wait! Staff very nice & caring. I saw Dr. O. She explains things in layman terms. Covered all scenarios. Took her time & answered all my questions. Very genuine.

I just responded to a post on another site from a neighbor with a dog who has cancer, then decided I should share my experience more widely since I would like to have seen as many viewpoints as possible before choosing a specialty vet for my pet. If you have a choice, I personally would recommend against Animal Cancer & Imaging Center in Canton. The people are nice, and I have no doubt skilled, but I got the sense that there is one specialist trying to handle every single case, so stuff gets dropped if it is not obviously critical and you don't keep harassing them.

My cat had an intake examination done. The specialist talked to me at length on the phone right after the exam; I was told I'd receive a written report, but I did not. I called back and asked to get more (very) expensive tests done. The results were indicative of cancer, and further action was promised by the clinic. I got no further communication from them, however, though I was assured next steps.

In the meantime my cat passed away, within a month of these tests. (She did not seem obviously ill, so this was devastating.) I kept waiting for the cancer place to call so I could say "You're too late!" But they never even called. I have since heard you can go to a clinic in Lansing for pet cancer treatment, and now I wish I had, despite the longer drive. It may not have prolonged my cat's life by much, but maybe the experience would have been better.

As i am greatful for the talented surgeon who removed a cancerous tumor from my dog, i am not please with the cutomer service. My dog has had 2 follow up ultrasounds each apt was at least 2 hours behind. Todays apt was at 1pm, they called him in at 3:30! No respect for people's time. The tech was rude and shrugged his shoulders at me. I was given a writted quote for his chemo would cost upwards of $600-800 per treatment for 5 times.

We delayed treatment due to cost. Our regular vet asked why we didn't start it, we told her. In reality the TOTAL cost of 5 rounds of chemo was only $55! Asked to speak to the oncologist before administering chemo and was told it could be up to 3wks before i would get a call back, which i never received.

Such nice and caring people. You know they love Dogs and Cats. My dog and myself were made comfortable and we understood her treatment. They also have entertaining squirrels to watch while waiting for test and results. Just a warm and caring place while going through one of life's traumas.

This place was wonderful to both my dog and family. Such an amazing staff and amazing doctors. My dog was diagnosed with lymphoma stage 2, when we got the news the staff and doctors talked about all our options and answered all of our questions and gave us time to think about all the info. We decided to do the treatment and all our trips there were amazing for both dog and myself, very warm, loving, kind people who my dog loved despite the situation she was in.

She was in remission after 2 chemo visits and hardly got sick. Best part is we moved away while doing chemo treatments and our dog got sick from the chemo and Animal Cancer and Imagine Center was more concerned and took the time to contact her vet and continued to stay in contact with me. They really are the best! These are pictures of aly while getting treatment and now still in remission :
