Dr. Renee Rumrill graduated from Colorado State University's prestigious College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in 1996. She began her career in mixed animal practice, treating many different types of animals from dairy cows to rabbits. She narrowed her focus to companion animal medicine when she found that she was most happy treating animals that are valued as family members.
Alta Vista Animal Hospital provides extensive veterinary services for your companion pets. In business since 2011, we form lasting relationships with our pet family because we are truly invested in their health and wellbeing. We really are your other family doctor. We have on-site diagnostic capabilities to treat sick animals quickly, in addition to wellness services tailored to ensure continuous good health for your animal companion. Emergency services are also available upon request. Surgery-We spay and neuter, perform soft tissue surgery, and specialized orthopedic services.

Our pets are our best friends, but they are great at hiding mouth pain and discomfort. We recommend regular dental exams for your pet to prevent tartar buildup, check for loose teeth, examine mouth sores, and stop the onset of periodontal disease. This last item is especially important, as unchecked periodontal disease can seriously damage your pet's internal organs.

We have used Alta Vista Animal Hospital for over 5 years and trust Dr. Rumrill and her staff with the care of all of our pets (4 dogs now). She does our vaccines, wellness checks and looks after special needs in our dogs. One of our dogs once needed some specialized treatment from a veterinary neurologist and Dr. Rumrill gave us an excellent referral to one that did a very successful surgery on her. I would highly recommend Alta Vista Animal Hospital to anyone in the Montrose area.

We have used Dr. Renee since she bought the business years ago and have always been pleased with her exemplary clinical skills and interventions, not only for our dogs but our felines that have known her. She conducts herself in a very professional manner and has shown great compassion for our animals and our needs as owners. Her staff communicates a high level of compassion and assures that our questions are completely answered before being discharged from their care. My family has been using Alta Vista for years (before it was even called Alta Vista). Over the years, we have come to love and appreciate Dr. Renee and her staff. They are all so caring and compassionate towards our pets. My cat has diabetes and Dr. Renee has been fantastic with helping figure out an affordable treatment plan and keeping close tabs on his health. I appreciate that she reaches out to other vets (CSU, for example) if she doesn't have an answer or wants other options. I can't imagine taking my cat any place else.

Nothing but good things to say. I called multiple clinics in town trying to see who could squeeze in my dog this week due to some sudden symptoms he was having. The front desk lady I spoke with on the phone stood out to me as being compassionate for my concerns and truly made me feel like she wanted to help. They got us in next day and Dr. Renee was kind and genuinely seemed to care about our puppy.
She went through labs and imaging and explained everything to me. I feel like we got the best care and we will happily continue working with this clinic for both of our puppies.
